to my little plot shop. But with a little bit of a twist~ You see, I'm not looking to personally be involved in any of these plots. I'm just the matchmaker pulling the strings, connecting roleplayers, and hopefully setting up wonderful long-term partners that work well together. Of course, I might take a few of the plots too~ It wouldn't do to have an entire plot shop and not roleplay any plots. Take a peek, see if there's anything you like, and please do use this thread to look for partners and plan your plots once you're matched up!
A b o u t
So how does this work? For you, it's easy! Simply fill out the "player" form so I can add your preferences to the database, then read through the plots and pick which ones you'd like to do. Simple! When someone matches your plot and preferences, I'll ping you both and set you up to start planning. But Brownie, you may be asking yourself, why would I use your thread to find a rp partner when I could make my own 1x1 search? In making this thread, I'm hoping to confer to everyone on the forums certain benifits:
1. Centralized Location. The forums are slow nowadays and it can be difficult for 1x1 search threads to get any replies. Weeks. Months go by with nary a reply and when an interested party does stumble upon the search, the thread might already be locked and/or months old. By creating a centralized thread for 1x1 search, forumers can easily see who is looking for partners and their preferences, all in one place. 2. A Mediator. There's always a bit of growing pain between two new partners and I'm here to help settle these stumbling blocks before they result in your partner ghosting you. Something in planning that neither party has a preference on? I'll pick it for you, no hard feelings. Are your partner's replies too short? Too long? Are they accedentally moving the pace too fast and you feel frustrated? Let me know and I'll see if the problems can be fixed~ No confrontations necessary. And if you need to drop the plot, let me know and I can wrap things up, no guilt, no ghosting. 3. Regular Activity Checks. Need a kick in the butt to remind you to get a reply out? That's me. You can ask me not to bother your rp once set in motion, but I'll default to weekly check-ins for all matchmade rp's to make sure things are running smoothly (and just to say hello~). 4. Top of the Line PLOTS. A lot of these plotlines have pre-built Clans, characters, archetypes and plenty of options of where to take the plots from the premise. Please do add or remove anything you want from the plots; once they're out of this thread, they're your plots, not mine, and you should always follow your muse! All characters, plot points ect are given only to spark your own imagination, and to use if it helps you vibe. That being said... my suggested plots are usually pretty good ideas (; N a v i g a t i o n

He could hardly keep up with Sagepaw's movement, darting here and there as she bounced from idea to idea faster than her paws could keep up, sending the young she-cat tumbling around the clearing as she tried to go many directions at once. The sight was so familiar, so normal, that he twitched his whiskers and just watched for a few moments, amazed at her energy.
"Indigothorn, I need to get into the medicine den," the small molly finally settled on, coming to a rest as she peered over the grasses towards the heart of camp.
The grey tom shook his head. "Something's blocking the tunnel," he lied, "let's go meet the others first. Maybe Duskbramble and I can dig it out tomorrow." No, he couldn't take Sagepaw there. Couldn't-- He could see Hollypaw's lump of fur in his mind's eye, Mudfeather's dark tabby pelt somewhere behind: they were both right outside the medicine cat's tunnel and he would not let Sagepaw come close to that grisly scene. No.
Instead, Indigothorn tried to lead the medicine cat apprentice away. Pronghornstar had headed east last he'd seen; they'd have to round the edges of camp to head that direction, but he didn't mind taking the longer path if it meant avoiding the destruction inside. "Cinderfall is injured. They need you, Sagepaw." D a t a b a s e

Romance - General romantic pairing scenarios for two characters.
I n c a n d e s c e n t
Muse A and Muse B don't fall in love slowly. They don't fall in love at first sight either. They fall in love in fits and starts, stutters and shudders, so slowly they hardly realize what's happening but so quickly they can't escape. It only takes three meetings: One, at a gathering, where they are both introduced with their warrior names for the first time. Two, on the border, when Muse A catches Muse B stealing herbs to try and save a dying Clanmate. Three, during battle, when Muse B saves Muse A's life, despite being on opposite sides of the fight. They can't care about the war between their two Clans anymore, not when all that matters is each other. The war will not stop for them. The only question now is: how can they be together when everything tries to keep them apart?
Recommended Setting:
This plot can take place in the canon original forest, with Muse A originating in RiverClan while Muse B is a ThunderClan warrior. The two Clans are in a long-term war over Sunningrocks and tensions are high, as ShadowClan is also skirmishing with WindClan and the four Clans are tentitively split in half, with ShadowClan allied with ThunderClan and RiverClan supporting WindClan.
In the second encounter, Muse B can be searching Sunningrocks for Chickweed, an herb that lessens coughs. Sunningrocks belongs to RiverClan and RiverClan warriors are swarming the rocks during the day, so Muse B tries to sneak there during the night, only to run into Muse A, alone.
Optionally, after the third encounter, Muse B can injure their own deputy while saving Muse A. They are pressured to leave ThunderClan because of this and are shunned by their family for helping a RiverClan warrior.
Optionally, Muse B can be ThunderClan's medicine cat, for extra spice and drama. Possible continuations of the plot include: Muses moving to the other Clan, both Muses running away together (to the barn?), both Muses running to a third Clan, continuing a secret relationship, a huge war breaks out between all four Clans. Optional Characters: (pick and choose what works for you~)
Rainstar - ThunderClan's leader. A large grey tabby she-cat with a fluffy tail and yellow eyes. Noble, just, and known for being strict on the Warrior Code. She often sticks her nose into other Clans' buisness and tries to enforce the Code upon them. Icewing - ThunderClan's deputy. A white tom with pale cream(ginger) dapples on his shoulders and green eyes. A no-nonsense cat that is fiercely loyal to Rainstar; he's good at taking orders but not very good at thinking on his own. One of ThunderClan's best fighters. Stormflight - A dark grey smoke tom with amber eyes. A ThunderClan warrior and Rainstar's trusted agent, he's ruthless and does whatever Rainstar asks of him. Rumored to be an assassin. Rainstar often asks Stormflight to stand in for her in other Clans' politics. Echoshade - A dark chocolate smoke molly with amber eyes. She has bold white speckles down her spine and a white tail-tip. A sneaky cat when she wants to be, but usually bored and standoffish. Often uses sarcasm. Brackenstream - Muse B's brother. A cinnamon tabby tom with white on his stomach, paws, tail-tip and a bright splotch over his face. He has green eyes. A rather timid cat that is scared to make mistakes. He'd rather listen to a senior warrior than make his own choices. Violetsun - Muse B's mother. A long-furred white she-cat with cinnamon points and purplish-blue eyes. A half-Clan cat with a ThunderClan mother and a kittypet father. She isn't particularly close with her kits now that they've been made warriors. A logical cat that struggles to empathize with emotion. Mothfall - Muse B's friend. A dilute tortoiseshell molly with blue eyes. A fairly average warrior in many ways, but has a good nose and is one of the better trackers and hunters in the Clan. She has a crush on Muse B that isn't reciprocated. She doesn't do well in crowds and tends to be shy around all cats but Muse B. Maplepaw - Muse B's apprentice. A ginger molly with black markings around her face and white paws. She has amber eyes. Maplepaw is full of life and while clumsy, has spirit. She likes to think she's funny but her humor is very dry and corny. Redpaw - Maplepaw's sister. A ginger molly with white stripes across her flanks and green eyes. A creative mind, she rarely does what she's told and seeks to make a name for herself. She is smaller than Maplepaw and always feels in her sister's shadow, so she acts out to try and distinguish herself.
---
Sedgestar - A rather small white and grey splotched tom with green eyes. Early into his leadership, he was often criticized by his own Clanmates and taken advantage of by his neighbors for his pasifism. Now, he's turned to a more aggressive policy as RiverClan is the biggest Clan in the forest and can back up his aggressive plays for territory. He believes in protecting his warriors above all else and unlike the other leaders, will take blows to his Clan's pride and reputation by retreating from battles before they become brutal --he knows RiverClan is stronger and will win the next fight. Fallenheart - A black she-cat with ginger and white speckles around her neck and tail. She has green eyes. She only has one ear and the left side of her face is heavily scarred. RiverClan's tactical leader, she often argues with Sedgestar and doesn't agree with many of his policies. He keeps the aggressive molly on a tight leash. Waterfur - A blue-grey cat with grey eyes. RiverClan's medicine cat. They are Sedgestar's closest confidant and Muse A's father. They were a warrior before becoming a medicine cat after RiverClan's previous healer suddenly died from illness, and was the only cat that knew enough herbs to step up to the position. They are very intellegent and have a good intuition; the stress of their new position makes them short-tempered sometimes, but they are usually easygoing and level-headed. Weaseljaw - Muse A's old mentor. A cinnamon smoke she-cat with a white throat and amber eyes. A cynical and pessimistic she-cat; one of the few RiverClan cats that prefers hunting for shrews and mice over fish. One of the oldest warriors in the Clan. Sandpool - A white tom with pale ginger dapples and green eyes. A warrior around the same age as Muse A and their rival. These two cats have never gotten along and Sandpool always tries his best to provoke Muse A any chance he gets. He has a sharp tongue and sharp claws and is always the first into battle. Muddypaw - A white tom with chocolate tabby markings, notably around his paws and face. He has yellow eyes. Muse A's younger brother. A rather obnoxious cat, he has the habit of sticking his nose places it doesn't belong. He cares a lot about his Clan but often tries to do things well above his ability, causing more problems rather than being helpful. Cinderpaw - A grey dappled tom with yellow eyes. Muse A's younger brother and Muddypaw's littermate. A skittish cat, he is easily frightened and while he often follows Muddypaw into trouble to try and convince his brother to let the other warriors handle it, he's often the one who pays for Muddypaw's mistakes as Cinderpaw is much more competent and usually has to be the one to save Muddypaw.
---
Quailstar - WindClan's leader. A small torbie she-cat with amber eyes. She has a grudge against ShadowClan and, as ShadowClan is currently weakened by twolegs scaring away their prey, is assaulting ShadowClan's borders to claim more territory for WindClan. She believes only in strength and will use underhanded tactics to gain any advantage she can. Toadstar - ShadowClan's leader. A chocolate tabby she-cat with green eyes. Toadstar is trying her best to ward off WindClan while keeping her warriors fed. She's a proud cat and for a long time, resisted Rainstar's attempts at giving ShadowClan aid, but after a particularly hard loss in a skirmish, was forced to accept ThunderClan's help in reclaiming carrionplace. She resents having to rely on ThunderClan's warriors and stubbornly refuses to awknowledge ShadowClan is endebted to ThunderClan. Tod - A brown tomcat with green eyes that lives in the barn on the way to the Moonstone. A people pleaser, he wears himself out trying to help others. Pod - A black tabby molly with amber eyes that lives in the barn on the way to the Moonstone. A shy and elusive cat that rarely comes out to talk to the Clan cats passing by, but always leaves extra mice for them on their way home. A t y o u r C o r e
Muse A has never been good at showing their feelings. They are known for being stoic, unflappable, unapproachable. A perfect warrior, but a cat no one really knew. Muse B wears their heart on their shoulder, or so it seems. They are bubbly on the outside and are friends with half the Clan, but no one really knows them, not their true self. Only when Muse B is alone do they let down their mask... except Muse A sees and realizes Muse B is more than they seem. Muse A becomes the only cat that Muse B can be themself around and the two spend more and more time together. Muse A learns how to find a mask they can be comfortable in, Muse B learns how to let down the mask they hide behind. And over time, they both realize the only one they trust with their hearts is each other.
Recommended Setting:
Any Clan setting is the easiest, canon or fanClan, but this plot can also easily be taken away from Clans as well.
My recommended setting for this plot is a pair of alley cats in a big city. Muse A is a loner type, a cat everyone sees around but no one has talked to. There's rumors in the city that they're dangerous, an ex-Clan cat-- which can be true as it makes for a good, tragic backstory! Muse B, on the other hand, flits around several cloysters, never really sticking around long enough to make deep friendships, but is well known by all as a cheerful and helpful cat to hunt beside. They, too, can have a tragic history that makes them hide their real pain behind a friendly attitude (bonus points if they are also a runaway Clan cat, come to make a new life for themself in the city~).
In this setting, there are a few groups of cats, but it's totally okay for your muses to spend most of their time as a duo without any other major players present. Their conflicts can come from their environment (big cities have lots of threats for stray cats that need to eat!) and from their internal tragic backstories that make it hard for them to trust the other (and cause angst, if that's a good fit for the rp!).
A major mid-point crisis after both your characters know each other well could be that Muse B is called back to one of their groups and Muse B falls back into their old habits, their old mask, leaving Muse A alone for several days. Another crisis could be that the Clan cats find Muse A hiding in the city and attempt to convince them to return to the Clan. In this plot, do not be afraid to come up with tragic backstories and have reminders of them set back the pair's relationship or trust in each other! Optional Characters: (pick and choose what works for you~ Most of these are best suited for the recommended setting)
Cher - A bright white molly with pale grey spots down her spine and grey eyes. She has a green and blue nylon collar. One of the more influencial cats in the city, she runs the biggest group of alley cats. They live in an abandoned factory and are known for taking in queens and elders, with a large group of cats that pool resources to feed and provide for them. Mates are encouraged to raise their kits here, even if they don't share resources with the rest of the group, as animal control never raids the factory's basement levels, so queens and kits can remain safe until their litters are old enough to care for themselves. Cher herself is matronly and kind natured, though she doesn't hestiate to make hard choices. She doesn't believe in killing, but has enough strength in numbers that rogues have no place in her kingdom. Ike - A scarred black tomcat with one yellow eye. Cher's second in command. A soft-spoken cat, but one that isn't afraid to step in and break up fights. He's basically head of security in Cher's base and ensures that every cat does their part. Pixie - A petite grey and white molly with blue eyes. Once a partner of Muse B, the two spent several moons hopping between groups together; Pixie is the closest thing Muse B has to a true friend, though they never let the naive molly see behind their mask. Pixie is optimistic and kind, a cat that truly believes all disagreements can be settled with a smile and a sincere apology. Vix - A calico she-cat with yellow eyes. A bit of a bogeyman to the alley cats, Vix's gang of rogues are the violent ones on the streets. They patrol a set territory and defend it from all intruders, much like a Clan, but without the Clan's Warrior Code to keep them honorable. Vix herself is rarely seen and instead will send lackeys to do her bidding. Otter - A chocolate and white tomcat with amber eyes. He has a bright yellow collar with a bell attached as well as a red bandana around his neck. A housecat who sees himself as a middleman between kittypets and the alley cats, he's often advocating for kittypets' rights to hunt for sport, so long as they donate the prey to alley cats in need. Wilbur - An old ginger she-cat with patchy fur and orange eyes. The matriarch of the Church cloyster that lives in the overgrown grounds and dilapidated barn and shed behind the city's oldest church. Wilbur is stubborn, proud and dedicated to the cloyster's traditional lifestyle. All the cats in the cloyster are in some way related to Wilbur or were adopted young. Thistleflutter - A chocolate tabby she-cat with silvery blue eyes. A warrior of CrowClan (where Muse A fled from). She's here on a prophecy, following leads to find Muse A and convince them to return to the Clan. She's earnest, easily flustered, and talks quickly. s t a r g a z e r s
Muse A has insomnia and Muse B is tormented by night terrors. One warm summer night, instead of sitting awake in their respective camps, both Muse A and Muse B both decide to sneak out to visit Fourtrees (or insert gathering place here). They're both startled to find another cat awake in this late hour, it hardly feels real. And so they watch the stars together. That night, and the night after, and the night after that. Slice-of-life/Drama - Includes any 1x1 relationship type that isn't romantic in nature. Mentor x Apprentice, Brother x Brother, Father x Daughter; Rivals, Friends ect.

Mystery - Cats have disappeared, a mysterious stranger appears, murder at the lakes? These stories all have a mystery that needs to be solved and include several potential story lines and "clues" for your characters to follow.
t h e m o u n t a i n
Muse A and Muse B are littermates. They're a part of ycClan, but they weren't born there: they were found on the border as kits, and ycClan adopts them. Many warriors detest the pair for their lack of Clan blood, but they have each other and slowly are accepted when they're made warriors. Then Muse A disappears. Muse B is shocked when, at the same place the kits were found, they find a scent they remember vicerally: their mother's (Muse C). She's kidnapped Muse A, forcing them to follow her to her own group in the mountains; their leader is sick, and Muse A has his blood, making them the only viable candidate for leadership. Muse B isn't going to let their littermate go alone and sets off on their trail along with Muse D their best friend. Luckily, Muse A is leaving little hints for their sibling to follow, though they have to be subtle enough to escape their captor's notice. Can Muse B and Muse D rescue Muse A before it's too late? Or might Muse C convince Muse A to stop leaving a trail and follow willingly? Muse A - Sibling 1 & Captured Muse B - Sibling 2 & Searching Muse C - Mother & Captor Muse D - Muse B's best friend. *note: this plot is intended for player 1 to roleplay Muse A and Muse D, and player 2 to roleplay both Muse B and Muse C, which makes two 1x1 replies.
Recommended Character Motives
The siblings Muse A and Muse B should be entirely reliant on each other. While the Clan took them in as kits, they were never treated gently by the warriors, feeling unwanted and outcasted from the rest of the Clan due to their blood. For a long time, they only had each other to lean on. Even when they started making friends and gaining respect, they still trust each other more than anything and must want to be together more than anything else. They can be identical twins to make the plot more dramatic and make their close relationship even closer.
Muse C, their mother, should be a complx character. She must have a reason to leave her kits in the Clan (one option is to protect them from her group's politics; as they are children of their leader, perhaps they are the result of a forbidden relationship and would have been killed if they were discovered, and both look identical to the leader which made it impossible to hide their father's identity). She must also have a good reason to bring only one back (perhaps the argument that returning is dangerous, and she doesn't want to risk the lives of both; perhaps they have strict gender roles and only the male sibling is a viable leader, or this sibling is the eldest and that's the ruling).
She may hold a lot of guilt for abandoning them, she may feel guilt for having the relationship in the first place and see the two as a mistake and a objectification of her regrets, she might instead be completely loyal to her group and be bringing Muse A back to satisfy their strict traditions and feels no motherly affection for them. Her motivations and relationship with Muse A is entirely your choice! The plot is very flexible in this regard.
Muse D is Muse B's friend. This could also be a crush/romantic interest if you wish to roleplay their relationship as such. They must be dedicated enough to Muse B to follow them away from the Clan. However, they are totally allowed to have doubts once the mission has gone on long enough that they get homesick; they could expect the chase to be a short and sweet adventure and are having second thoughts now that they've run into obsticles. They can also be an unflinching rock for Muse B, either is fine!
Recommended Setting:
The Clan is ShiverClan - the Proud and Fierce. Their territory is boreal forest and many of the cats are well adapted to cold climates with thick fur, wide paws and bulky builds with strong shoulders. Muse A and Muse B are also cold-adapted, hailing from the mountains, but have stronger hind legs and more nimble builds, smaller than all of the ShiverClan cats.
ShiverClan is part of a group that includes seven Clans and is neighbor to three: FirClan, NightClan and LynxClan. The Clans are hypercompetitive of resources and while territories are large, hunting across borders is common and skirmishes are therefore almost a daily occurance, so much so that an unspoken rule has been established: no biting is allowed in skirmishes, only claws, which because of the cats' thick fur, results in far fewer injuries and far fewer infected wounds.
Muse C belongs to a group of cats in the mountains, a group from which the Clans all originally stemmed from. The tallest peak hosts the heart of the Kingdom and the shorter peaks and valleys are home to smaller groups with their own local leaders, all who answer to the King. There are generations of tradition that hold their society together and strict rules that keep it running smoothly.
The King is old and very sick. The last pair of heirs killed each other trying to secure their place on the hierarchy, leaving the Kingdom in disarray. Muse A and Muse B have the King's blood, unknown to all but Muse C. They are the last viable heirs to the Kingdom, and placing them in power would also bring power to Muse C's group in the foothills. s t r a n g e r s

I'll put two romance plot ideas down, but I am SUPER bad at coming up with romance plots so they might suck a little. Good news is that this place is to find any 1x1 not just matches from the plot shop, so if two people prefer romance and match up together, they can come up with some plot on their own =o

This is an amazing idea! I love that it’s a central place for a plot shop. I’ll probably get a form up later today or tomorrow. Also, the plots and coding are top tier. @ sandclaw // Sand she/her Genres (rank from most preferred to least preferred, omitting any that you would not like to rp at all; add any genre you feel applicable): [ mystery, adventure, slice of life, drama/intrigue, fantasy, romance ] Character Preference: small cast & full clan Length Preference: 2-3 paragraphs or advanced Planning Preference: complete improv, some planning & detailed planning Activity Availability: 3/week and more. RP SAMPLE (Include a rp post that is your average preference. Do not use starters as samples, but replies to other posts; please put sample in spoiler tag) [honestly my replies vary by length. It’s always 2+ paragraphs.] TW: death, injury, blood.
Fernpaw's pale amber eyes were fixated on Hollyheart's limp body. Pebblepool's answer echoed in her ears along with her own heartbeat. It sent chills of fear up her spine as she had never witnessed something so horrific before. You're going to make it, Hollyheart, she thought with a sliver of hope. Unfortunately, Hollyheart looked far from surviving. It wasn't just injuries, it was death, lurking around the corner of the medicine cat's den. She didn't want to believe it, but something felt off.
Taking a deep breath, the silver spotted tabby's tail trembled nervously. She was on her own to figure out her anxiety and fears-- for now, at least. What mattered more than her own being was Hollyheart. The Night Guard always seemed like a brave feline from what Fernpaw could remember. She suddenly heard her mentor's demand and hurried away for the soaked moss. "Okay, I will be back," she managed to mew in response.
Once she had reached the herb storage, Fernpaw searched frantically for the moss. Luckily, it was right before her and she was able to reach it. She took a small bundle out, forced it into her maw, and headed to the small pool.
The sound of the waterfall was normally calming to her. Today it was anything but that. The waterfall no longer looked clear blue anymore. It appeared red as the caked blood on Hollyheart's limp, injured body. The apprentice shook her head while her eyes burned with anguish. Not now. You can cry later, the tabby told herself. She slowly dipped the moss bundle into the pool, briefly watching it float around. Once Fernpaw knew it was soaked enough, she picked it up with her maw and made way for Pebblepool.
She spotted Icetail leaving the den and she knew she needed to hurry. Fernpaw rushed over to the blue grey medicine cat. "I have the soaked moss," she meowed. She set it down gently between Pebblepool and Hollyheart. She wanted to ask about the other Night Guards, but decided against it. The ginger she-cat lying before them was the cat who needed her focus and attention. "Is there anything else or... anyone else?"

I'll officially add yall to the database once I figure out how I want to code it~ I'm thinking two columns, I'm thinking heavy defined boxes, I'm thinking scrolls, but I want it to look clean so it might take some doing. Sand <3<3 Thank youuu I need a place to get ideas out of my head and I know I won't be able to do them all. Hopefully I can figure out a way to get this place rolling~ Also I really want to get people's 1x1s to stop dying and jfdaf;dadj idk how but I'm going to try >:[ I put a second romance plot up~ The idea for these is that the base plot is generic enough for anyone to build off of, but the suggested settings and characters are there to narrow the focus of the plot for those that enjoy stricter planning of plots (or no planning, in which those suggestions can allow players to start immediately with no setup necessary) let me know yalls opinions on the format~ I'd like to have some critique or suggestions now so that I can implement them in my plot-creation process. also, if there's any tropes/basic plotlines you'd like to see, please please please suggest them!! The whole point of this place is to be a generic plot shop for everyone, so please let me know what you would like from it!~

1.) I think Scolls would be super cool!
2.) Thank you very much for making this, I'm sure it will build a lot of friendships, introduce some people to RPing, as well as bring joy!

I'm always kinda confused how they die & then a new one pops up later on and it dies too. as for the format, I think two columns or heavily defined divs (boxes) would work. Usually when I design a site with a database, I do 2 columns or sometimes I'll do more, depending on what needs to be inserted. kinda like this, but I've done it for menus using html & bootstrap. I've used it often for menus and tarifs (can't find the english word rn.) 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | Row 2 column 1 | Row 2 column 2 | Row 2 column 3 | Row 2 column 4 | Row 3 column 1 | Row 3 column 2 | Row 3 column 3 | Row 3 column 4 | Row 4 column 1 | Row 4 column 2 | Row 4 column 3 | Row 4 column 4 |

ngl I completely forgot BBCode has built in tables. I might need to use those for some of my worldbuild organization zzz I think I'm going to try something like this? (Idk why one is fatter than the other when they're both set to 50% zzz) At least they stack as intended. I think instead of the bevel, I'll try something a little fancier like.... this. custom inset bevels ;);) which is super cool because!! the scroll sits between the two borders so I can use that in the color design if I want to! I have also learned that the boxes will stack neatly as long as all the borders are the same, which is fair. I might add a 2px padding to the outside border to offset the bevel a hair... hmmm i actually don't like that very much. I'll leave it as an option though. It's also an option to put the scroll bars INSIDE the second div, which will make them all perfect squares... but I kinda like the disappearing inner bevel to indicate there's more in the box? Scratch ever putting the scroll in both borders: I could do it, but it would require a LOT of bugfixing~ Right now, the outer div is constraining the inner one, which is easy; if I put the scroll on the inside, the inner div would have to constrain the outer one, which is significantly more difficult to achieve (on all screens; I could simply use pixels, but then mobile would look turbo scuffed) But yeah I think this is the proof of concept code haha. The colors/fonts/border widths ect can all be tinkered with, but here's the greyscale base~ This is the base code for the boxes if anyone's learning coding and curious what I did. It's really simple code, though the interactions are a step up from basic level. If ya have any questions about coding, DM me I love to teach coding (at least, however much I know of it zzz I'm still not as good as Rain with float shapes but I'm getting there) [div style="width:50%;float:right;border:solid #232323 5px;background:#a1a1a1;font-family:georgia;font-size:11px;line-height:14px;overflow-y:scroll;height:200px;"][div style="border:solid 3px #828282;padding:10px;"] @ brownie // Brownie/Quill They/them [ Fantasy!! I always forget tbf, I only remember when I'm building something in HTML and CSS. I like it! The inner border is cool against the beveled one. Am bit unsure about the scrolls. In this case, I think the troubleshooting will be ridiculously frustrating. Rain's very good with the float shapes, for the life of me, I suck at them in bbcode. The properties aren't all the same in html and css oh I see now. Psst, how'd you learn to put notes in your bbcode?

the scrolls shouldn't break? idk I don't use them too much but overflow-y with a discrete height bound has never failed me yet. And yeah floats in html aren't very intuitive for me. Sometimes I can understand what z-levels are doing, other times they just yeet themselves from the constraining box into the void //shrug I had one yesterday just... translate itself like 30px down for some reason and it would not go in line with the rest. I had to break my other two working boxes to fix it, then re-fix those two boxes it was so weird.
I've been using html for over a decade now and I swear I still don't understand half of why things work and don't work I just know what does what and how to troubleshoot and get them to do what I want them to do with brute force haha
And comments!! I got so frustrated when empty constraints would just vanish themselves (back in like, old forum html days) and so I would use the workaround of putting text there... but at zero font size. You literally can put the entire bee movie script and it wouldn't show anything on the outside, but you could see it if you quoted and looked inside. It's like writing with invisible ink haha but yeah a cool thing to come out of an old forum bug. Some of my older code (including the one on this page) is a little inefficient because of the way I learned to code due to that bug. I'd have to put text-modifiers in a separate div or they'd be at risk of randomly deleting themselves from the code if they were in the same line as background modifiers (for some reason...?) it doesn't do that anymore (!!) and hasn't for a long time but the habit is hard to break sometimes.
waitwait I didn't even comment anything funny into this one. are you talking about my post header for CurrentClan?? lmaooo

Normally no, they should not. I removed the scroll from mine to test something in another tab & then put it back here on accident. Height bounds are usually pretty good, I've not had one break on me surprisingly. 😵 that is confusing and weird. I don't understand why it would do that, I've had it do that to me but then does 10px instead of none, like ?? BBCode needs to go.
I'm the same, I've been coding since I was 14, so troubleshooting is constant. I can understand how some things work, just not everything. I usually edit my code and rewrite part of it and then I find out it was just a misspelling or forgetting a dash.
Oh my god I hated the vanishing part. It was something that annoyed me back then when I was putting code on the forums and the invisible ink made it easier. now I remember the bee movie script joke. I still keep some of my older code, but if I go back to look at it, I immediately want to trash it. It's horribly done and the text-modifiers made the code feel longer. I'm glad that the bug is gone, but I want to know when they actually fixed it.
shit, I've been caught lmaoo yes, I looked.

bruh I always forget the semicolons :( Or I miss the closing quote and the whole div deletes itself love that
I just hate picking colors so I use my old code as a base and then I don't have to find a new color scheme zzzz I don't think I've coded anything new in a long time. My bird Clan post header is the only thing I can remember coding from scratch since like, 2018. that thing was so annoying too and it kept breaking cuz it was the first time I was trying to manipulate right floats and I just hacked bits together without really knowing how they'd interact
that code... I have to admit I took over an hour (probably more like two) just designing the bracket for the ooc box. it went through several iterations before I found one that I was happy with, and even then it took me like, 45m to actually make it work. Surprisingly it's not too complicated! My first few designs had square corners for the top left and bottom right but I couldn't get the text to get on the right z-level. I think I like this design better anyways.
But yeah I put the text in there to see who was peeping it ;)

in CSS, I always forget the colon and I am not sure why. THE DIV. WHY. each time I have that happen, I want to flip my laptop over. then I remember how much I spent on it. I love color picking omg, it is one of my most favorite things in this world. I usually change up my coding every few months because new ideas, new colors, new characters, new... everything. I don't like when code breaks bc I had that happen recently all because I was putting in a 1 div and of course it deletes itself >: floats are a favorite, I like to mess with them. I really wish the forums had html & css because I could do more with them instead of right or left float. oh god. my first thing I ever coded in BBCode took me a long time. It was supposed to be a simple box, but I accidentally put 2 boxes together when I only wanted one. Somehow stuck with the 2 boxes. It doesn't sound too complicated at all! I do like the rounded square / rectangle designs. I see many of them because they're popular with web design now & web devs. yeah, that'd be meeee

I used to be Obsessed with rounding corners and now I'm just like. No that's Effort squares are Good
THO now you are tempting me to round the corners on the little sidebars of the title header for CurrentClan.. ... .

@ coniferous // Con she/they/he (usually she/they) Genres: [Mystery > Adventure > Fantasy > Drama/Intrigue > Romance + Slice-of-Life ] Character Preference: small cast Length Preference: 2-3 paragraphs + advanced Planning Preference: complete improv (admittedly I have never done this before) + some planning Activity Availability: usually 3+/week, but can be sporadic RP SAMPLE (This one isn't from a warrior cats roleplay, but it was a post from a cat roleplay if it counts!)
Hayzaline gave a sneeze when the curtain was draped around them. They glanced suspiciously at Kip - weird that they’d panic when they leaped at the cart - before skittering back towards the cart, trying to balance with one leg in the air. That ghost - it seemed getting weirdly heavier.
Hayzaline opened a shelf to take a peek inside. Nothing suspicious in there - maybe at a first glance. The tortoiseshell tried to shove a paw inside, only for their view to get blocked because of that damn thing on their arm.
“Hey!” they hissed. “Come off, come on!”
Hayzaline lashed out at the wispy thing, trying to hit it but not even hitting it - instead they banged their paw against the side. Hayzaline bit back another hiss, shaking their paw again. No use talking to Kip, they didn’t seem like much help… and Cardinal? Stuck with xer own problems. And the rest of the crew… they couldn’t really see them with in the dark, behind the cart.
Maybe they could just push the cart out…? For inspection? Would the ghosts follow them outside as well? It was worth a try. They pushed their paws against the cart, willing it to budge.
Also fair warning: this is the first time I'm trying 1x1 / small group roleplays! If partnered up with me please let me know if I make mistakes ^^;

Welcome aboard~ And your sample is perfect! As long as its cats and a reply to another's post, it fits the criteria.
Also I'm surprised so many people like mystery =O I've always been a bit confused on how to write a mystery roleplay... do you make up the clues as you go along? Do you discuss your clues and outcome beforehand? Do both players know the answer? I guess I like to see where plots go, so knowing the answer to the mystery on the outset isn't engaging (hence, why the only "mystery" plot so far has player characters on both sides of the mystery; they're both leaving the clues and following the clues as they go!)
I remember glow tried to get a mystery otrp going where each individual only knew part of the plot and each had something to hide. Kinda like a rp clue. That was a super cool concept but dead forums be dead forums </3

I'll admit that I have a penchant for adventure + mystery ones - where the characters have to go on a journey to solve a mystery / mysteries arise in a journey - usually the ones I've formulated involved the admin / mod team keeping details under lock while giving out small clues, but in these I think it could work either as fully plotting it out or just going back and forth (both roleplayers have an idea and go back and forth in a manner that makes the story consistent, and agree on a solution halfway in progression?) or small group rp (not necessarily 1x1 but like 3-4 people?) with small prompts given at the beginning by the rp prompt itself so that a group can collectively piece together the solution?

Do you think it would be interesting to have a plot by a third party (coughcough me) that has hints under spoilers to go through one by one, slowly unravelling the solution? So that neither player knows the ending, but that it's already "plotted" out? Like a list of scenarios that happen in order, that give clues to the answer? I'd have to be very vague so that any actions the players take can be subsumed into the logic of the scenarios, but it would perhaps give direction without the players having any idea of what will happen next until they click the spoiler? does that seem like a concept that would interest people? ( Sand I know you like mysteries too; any insights?)

Yes definitely! I agree with Con, that’s a way I’ve done it in the past. Usually when I’ve rp’d mysteries, there’s sometimes an adventure or not. If it’s me and someone else, we kinda plan some things out but not all of the clues. Some may be thrown in at random which means we’ve to think on our feet. If it’s planned all out, we choose to keep it short, but by the time it comes around, we detail it.
I’m totally down for the idea though 👀 I’m all for anything mystery.
Random side note: I thought more people were into romance, but I’m kinda surprised more like mystery.
