I've had this book ever since early childhood. I was looking through it again today and noticed how various cat poses are very similar to Wayne McLoughlin's art, mainly the original cover of Twilight and some Cats of the Clans poses. The last one looks way too similar to RavenBarley to be a coincidence. Did you compare when the books were published to get a more definitive guess?

This has been known for a while and comes back every now and then. Whether it was traced or just used as a reference, it's definitely what the art was based on. |

I was actually planning on making a thread about this topic and the Tailchaser's Song similarities as well sometime last year but then saw that both of this had already been talked about on here and in other parts of the fandom a few years ago, so I've scrapped it. Would've been a pain to try and get all the image examples together anyways (don't own this book by DK but a different one soely about a lot of the various cat breeds).
Thanks for going through it, there's definitely a huge resemblance in a few of Wayne McLoughlin's artwork for Warriors from this specific book. Although I don't think of it as traced art and indeed moreso him just using it for reference on poses and such. Not sure if that's problematic/illegal in any way (wouldn't think so though since he didn't copy everything exactly as the photos and did use different pelt as well as eye colors for most of these).

I find it funny that Tawnypelt (the calico) looks pretty much the same, and so does Brambleclaw (the tabby with its tail under the other cat's chin). Even Squirrelflight (the cat licking its paw) looks similar. Yeah, I think it's pretty cool to see the poses that inspired Wayne McLoughlin. Especially since some of them are such cute cat poses. |

Literally all of this is WAY too similar... that's so weird... I always thought Talon's pose there was odd, seeing it the EXACT same in the picture of that Abyssinian is so?? Strange?? They're all way too similar to be a coincidence
