No, I understand that. That doesn't mean I have to like it. I also don't get why you're singling me out when I wasn't even the only one who commented against Brightheart's behavior anyway. You were "singled out" because I couldn't be assed to hit quote for every single person making the same general point while on mobile, I suppose. Congratulations, you're our lucky winner! Please stop being rude, thereโs no need for it. Thanks.

And nowarriornameshere, if everyone is saying the same thing anyway, you could've just made your point without quoting anyone. There really was no need for this.

Does anyone else find the frequent bolding of words to be rather annoying? I noticed this in Winds of Change, too. If it's supposed to denote emphasis, it's way overdone. I agree that the plot seems to be a bit repetitive of the plot of A Shadow in RiverClan. And I'm annoyed that they keep retconning Ashfur to be ~obviously~ sketchy pre-POS. Is he sketchy here? All he's doing is brawling Thornclaw over a squirrel. Which makes him look petty, yes, but no more than Thornclaw is for engaging him in the exact same thing. Both of them are being equally aggressive about it. Yeah Ashfur is fine for now, but I will be very disappointed if he turns out to be the thief. The Erins only know how to right two villains, the one that does the evil thing every time in every situation and was obviously evil since birth, or the completely forgiven and redeemed one who was Just Trying To Do The Right Thing. And the authors finally realizing their mistake in portraying Ashfur in the second category isn't as relieving if they just punt him right into the first. I would prefer Ashfur gets kept as the one who had moments of being a "normal" cat rather than a demon from birth who is still nonetheless not redeemed and genuinely treated by the narrative as a villain.

cool to see that ashfur was always possessive over things named squirrel anyways uhhhh, i liked that they remembered who swiftpaw was. that shocked me a little... also they acknowledged frostfur as brightheart's mom! been a while since that's happened. and brightheart talking about how she wants a daughter? is that foreshadowing to how whitekit was the only kit in the litter, and a she-cat? edit: also!!!! i love brightheart's little tune. look at her go.

I think Brightheart's fear makes sense to be fair. Longtail was attached to the hip to Darkstripe and Tigerstar, and there was never any proof that he wasn't a part of the initial coup against Bluestar other than his word. After that he stayed close friends with Darkstripe whilst the latter conspired with Tigerstar, and again only separated himself when Darkstripe was on trial for poisoning Sorrelkit. It's not unreasonable to suspect he was more involved than he let on. Longtail also used to be extremely xenophobic to Cloudtail and kept commenting on how he should/would die. I love Longtail but he was a serious asshole in the first few books. She's not only a direct victim of Tigerstar, but he caused the death of Swiftpaw and Whitestorm, and caused Cinderpelt (her sister) to be crippled. And pretty much every cat in the Clans at this point has voiced some level of fear that Bramblestar would turn out like his father, most so Firestar himself. So she's not unique or any more prejudiced than anyone else. It makes sense, like I said her feelings are definitely valid considering how she was impacted. I just wish we weren't getting another distrust story when we just got Feathertail's from her own manga. Brightheart's trauma is valid and makes sense for what she, and the rest of the clan, went through, but it just feels to me that when we got a plot similar to this only three mangas ago it feels a bit repetitive. I hope my post doesn't sound confrontational btw. I know I was one of the people saying I don't care for the plot so I just wanted to explain. No worries, I actually completely agree with you that this feels a bit too much like Feathertail's story. I hope it doesn't become a prevailing part of the story.

Really excited for this book and cannot wait for the spoiler thread <3
Yes, this is kinda my way of bumping the thread since it's relevant (hope that's alright).
(Also, added spoiler tags on the thread title just now.)

shoulda named this thread "cloudtail and brightheart being a power couple for 50 pages"
also i quite like longtail's character design. i've always pictured him as pale yellow with jet backs stripes, thanks to SSS Warrior Cats, but i think that design is a nice medium.

Hold up, what I would actually kind of love to see, is Ashfur and Brambleclaw hanging out here (in this upcoming book). Considering that they were mentioned to have been friends or at least on friendly terms during Firestar's Quest, which timeline-wise takes place around the same time as A Thief in ThunderClan will (as well as the Then portion of Graystripe's Vow it seems), I'm positive that we'll at least see a few (background) interactions between these two characters.
I would actually kinda dig it if Brightheart witnesses how Brambleclaw and Ashfur beat Smudge up until Firestar broke up that (one-sided and unfair) fight, just to see her thoughts on that matter, as an example of a Bramble/Ash interaction or friendship "bonding" moment (lmao at that weird wording, I'm sorry).

Yup. That as well. Although I do seem to remember that they didn't really have any on-screen positive interactions in that arc despite this. Or at least I can't outright recall any between them right now. Ashfur just seemed more focused on Squirrelpaw/flight after her and Brambleclaw came back from the quest in the third TNP book. The only mentions I know of is Ashfur speaking rather highly of Brambleclaw twice (could have only been once though) to Squirrelflight in the fifth book and him trying to kinda keep the peace at one point between himself, Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw in that same one. But that's pretty much it (iirc). Because then he insults Brambleclaw at the start of the sixth book and so on.

So he had a pretty consistently good opinion of him until Twilight.

But again, there just weren't (m)any actual friendly interactions/conversations between them besides during FQ (don't remember if there was one in GV taking place around the same time). Which I still think is weird/was a waste considering that Brambleclaw was a PoV for half of TNP (for three books: Midnight, Starlight and Sunset). But perhaps it just wasn't important to the plot unlike Brambleclaw's numerous talks with Hawkfrost in the second half of that arc. Most of it (their friendship/them getting along) probably still happened but just simply off-screen (or rather off-page).

I'll admit to not remembering this (from the start of Midnight, right?). It's not a full on conversation/talk though and instead just a friendly but still minor interaction. I'm aware that the writers simply had other stuff to focus on plot-wise and not much on a "friendship" (moreso friendly/respectful terms) that was not really all that important to the plot and was also gone by the end of this arc anyways.

It seems pretty interesting. I still don't know how they're going to resolve the plot (I have some ideas, but I don't know which is more likely), but I hope they have something good in mind. I love Cloudtail and Brightheart's interactions, they're so cute. In the scene where the 3 kits become apprentices, even though I already knew she wouldn't get one, it was still sad to see. She really deserved to have an apprentice. Also, I wonder why Longtail, Bramblepaw, Oakfur and Tawnypaw were meeting at the border. At the moment I'm guessing that Bramblepaw and Tawnypaw just wanted to meet up and Brightheart was being paranoid.

How would they have a pdf when the book isnโt even out digitally yet? I have no idea. Did not take a screenshot of their post either before it was deleted (probably could have done that but oh well). It was only on here for around twenty minutes before I called the mods and they removed it (as well as most likely deleting the account of that person). Their username was literally "thethief" though (lol) so they could have indeed had a PDF of AThiTh or they were lying about it (who knows, we certainly won't). They did post a link as well (did not click on it because I was not keen on catching a potential virus).
