I'm making a Warriors fanfiction where an omen is misinterpreted, leading the hero to be cast out and the villain to be cherished.
I bet this has been done before, but I like it.

Currently I'm writing it on paper *just to get into the habit*, but if I ever finish/get some chapters edited on a google doc or something similar then I might!
If you want I can info dump.

Happy November! I think I'm doing nano. Been mulling it over the last couple weeks and while I don't have high hopes of hitting 50k, I do wanna give it a shot and use it to build up a writing habit again.

ayo I'm down for that o.o I miss doing sprints, haven't done any of those since high school writing club~ now I just gotta figure out which scene I want to start on for this year.... doing arc 2 of the flintlock fantasy epic (that's already 70k in help)

i like word sprints they force me to surpass my mental critic in order to just get something on the page which is often the point i need to get to. wordsprints.org is a good site for them too, we could potentially do ones for the whole writers group if people were interested.
i'm gonna be working on my alchemy-fantasy story. it's like maybe 20k in progress? but a lot of that is out of place drabbles lol not sure how much of it is actual continuous story

oooo I didn't know they had an actual site for them!! wait maybe I've used it before? maybe a few times? a long time ago, though. I'd totally be down, force myself to actually get in the zone and get the words to the page
and isn't that a mood! more than half of the words I wrote for last year's nano are going to be discarded. or rather, moved, I decided one of the character's arcs (ironically the one I have the most written FOR :/) doesn't fit with the theme of the other character's plots and will probably be moved to a "book 2" (..........whenever that happens). I didn't have the full scope of the project planned at the start, and only once I finished writing like, half her arc did I realize that it fit (both thematically, logically and DRAMATICALLY) after the events of the other character's plots and the battle's end. very unfortunate, but they are still useful words, just not... now useful I guess

I used to use it fairly frequently with some writer friends, but I haven't done a sprint in probably close to a year yeesh
it b like that. I'm usually pretty good at mapping out characters/povs but I feel like a lot of times I get into writing something and then realize i started at the wrong point in the timeline and either need to go further back and write even more, or i need to cut a bunch because I started too early and it's just filler fluff. either way makes for a confusing and disconnected writing experience lol

I use to do word sprints/wars all the time here! Me and Mint had actually done quite a few in OTW back when Mint had started the NaNo page. Haven’t done one since then but I love doing them! So I’m totally down.

Writing exercise where you set a timer (usually between 10-30 minutes) and write as much as you can in that period. People do it as a competition sometimes to see who can write the most words in the given timeframe. There's also an alternate format for competitive sprints where you set a word goal and see who gets to it fastest rather than having a set time. I've never really found the competitive framing helpful, but I do like doing it in groups for the community aspect c: also like the time constraint bc like I said earlier it forces me to write without self-critiquing too much, so it can be a good tool to beat some types of writer's block.

I want to make a story where a wizard has an affair with a mortal *probably human* lady and she ends up pregnant. Has twins, gives the one that looks nothing like her or her husband to the wizard, and keeps the other one. In order to keep the town from discovering her secret she forms a riot or something and gets the wizard banished from the town.
Cassie gets raised by her magic dad, but for some reason she is more magical, and ends up moving to said town in order to be their 'guardian'. She wants to make friends but the only two people that like her are a crazy lady her age and a goth kid who thinks she's sick because of her magical powers.
So yeah, basic plot.

So I'm basically all ready to write my epistolary novel after deciding to move the setting from real to fictional since I'll have an easier time keeping characterization accurate while also not having to worry about little details, but a thought just occurred to me: I have absolutely no idea what to call the months.

What kind of world are you working with? Is it alt-earth or exoplanet?
