Rules- minimum post length is three sentences. Try to aim for at least five though
- don't godmod or powerplay/put some limits on your characters' abilities and don't make mary sues - characters with flaws make rp more interesting
- keep things pg The Setting The world that The City is located in is similar to ours but with some key differences. The people that inhabit this world call it Earth but it doesn't appear to be our own Earth with this Earth having vastly different continents and cultures. While that may seem to be a fairly big difference there's actually something that causes it to be far more different - the existence of magic. There is no one singular type of magic. Whatever type you can dream of it exists. There are also a near infinite amount of beings besides humans like elves, demons, fae, or anything else you could imagine. The titular city - simply called The City by its inhabitants - is a large megacity home to some 20 million souls. The City is the largest city in the world and draws in people from far and wide so that they can accomplish whatever it may be that they desire. The City is located on a flat plain and is surrounded all the way around by a large perfectly circular wall that is 150 miles in diameter. The City is incredibly diverese with architectural styles from all places and times in history. The terrain itself is also quite diverse being home to mountains, forests, lakes, farnlands, and even your occasional floating island. The population of The City is roughly 60% human and 40% other. While referred to as 'The City' it isn't controlled by anyone one authority with many different areas that can be governed quite differently with varying levels of safety in each area. Due the chaotic effect the presence of magic has on the city many areas rely on loosely regulated vigilantes to keep dangerous threats at bay. It isn't uncommon for battles to break out the destroy entire city blocks and there have been magic-based disasters in the past that have destroyed entire parts of the city. Despite these risks people still come to the city due the opportunities available from so much magic being located in a single place. |

(This is all just some miscellaneous stuff to help keep track of everything that's going on. It might be made into a subpage in the future. Either way don't expect this to be updated very often) Land Marks (Here will be a list of land marks- ones that I've created ahead of time as well as ones that others have created that have become noteworthy enough to be included) The City Walls - The walls that surround The City. The stand tall at a height of 200 feet and there 360 entrances into the city placed at even intervals The City Center - A relatively normal part of the city that matches up with what you would see on our Earth Magia Universitas - A university that specializes in the study of all things magic. It's said to be the largest of it's kind in the world. It's located in the city center
The Industrial Zone - a relatively newer part of The City it was at that time built on the edge of The City. The land it was built on once belonged to the Ihratsyo people but the land was illegally seized from them. A megacorporation know as the Roachinger Corporation dominates the Industrial Zone and has turned it into a company town. The industrial zone is divided into districts and movement from the rest of The City and the various districts is heavily restricted. Only high-level employees are able to move freely here with everyone else forced to go through heavily guarded checkpoints. Big Events/Plots Members and Characters (This just a list of people in the rp and their characters. You have to dm me to be added. You can also dm me a description of your characters if you'd like) Glatisant - Naga, Sera Naga - Male, 19. Slightly above average height, dark brown hair and olive green eyes. Human who can use magic
Sera - Female, 25. Tall, platinum blonde hair and brown eyes. Human with distant elven ancestry
hiraeth - Atlas Atlas - a 20 year old human Standing around 5'6 Atlas has a slender but healthy build, her white gently waved hair sits around the curvature of her hips, and her eyes are a deep amber color. She has full lips and freckles are lightly splattered across her nose. there's a small light colored scar on the corner of her lips from when she fell as a child. She’s a talented archer and owns a charm that allows her to use magic for she wasn’t endowed with these powers at birth.
Sylvia - 28, human vampire hybrid, around 5’9. As one of the mentors/professors at Magia, she sticks out like a sore thumb long jet black hair and upturned lavender eyes, Sylvia posses the power of short term mind control (if she tastes your blood.) and has the power to teleport. She has a talking black cat named Reaper as her assistant. She teaches Magical Telekinesis. Often Studies different types of magic. |

(Here are some starters)
Naga
Naga was walking through The City with no particular destination in mind. Not that he even knew anywhere to go. He had just arrived in The City and so was unfamiliar with it. The reason he had come to The City is pretty simple - he needed a job. He had just recently dropped out of school after getting bored with it and knew that he would be able to find a job in The City. He hadn't done much research about The City though. He only knew where the safer parts of The City were. He had ended up in the City Center where things functioned pretty much the same they would anywhere else. And so he walked on hoping he could snag a job somewhere.
Sera
Sera sat in the café sipping a cup of coffee in between her classes. She had missed her chance to get a cup before her classes started and had been paying the price all morning. It was hard for her to focus on her classes without caffeine to wake her up - especially Magic Circle Theory. Nevertheless she had powered through her morning classes and finally had her chance to take a proper break. Her morning classes were all so far away from one another that just going from one class to the next took all her time. Well, that's just what happened when you didn't properly account for the distances between classes in a university the size of a small town.

As long as your mindful of what other people are trying to do your characters can be anything and do just about anything. As for your idea with Naga that sounds great! I don't have anything too concrete planned for him so his story could go anywhere really. I really like the idea of him ending up doing odd jobs - feels like it would be a good way to flesh out The City too. Who knows where a job like that could bring him!) |

I have three 'city leaders' of different sectors. One for business/merchants, one for nonhumans of japanese descent such as oni & yokai, and a neutral party who kind of oversees those who lie in between. He'd be in control of the 'odd jobs' portion. And then maybe a police-type character because I was thinking of introducing a mystery and maybe getting your characters caught in it? I lost my notes for that though ><
So as not to monopolize the world, they'd all be in roughly the same half of The City.
Just want to check that this is all okay! ]

(Sorry for not replying sooner but yes you can join hiraeth. Also, Hushabye take as much time as you need! Your ideas for new characters sound great! Don't worry about asking me for permission when making new characters or sections of the city. Same when it comes to plotlines. I'm going to be very hands off in regards to those things. About your police-type character Hushabye, I actually thought of a new plot that maybe we could weave that character into. I can dm you the idea I had in mind if you'd like) |

(Yeah we definitely need some antagonists for the future. But we can hold off until we get a feel for our characters and their relationships.) |

The hands of the master clock in the library loomed over every second longer Atlas had been studying or err sleeping. Sitting there at a small coffee table, she was face first in a book about cats living secret lives under the floorboards of an abandoned mansion. Atlas had been attending Magia, for a little over a month now. She came to the city to learn more about the wild whims of magic, and to hopefully prove her worth to become an apprentice of Slyvia a renown magic chemist who wrote a book about necromancy and her secret desires to learn how to bring the dead back to life.
Ding dong Shoot! Atlas’s head shot straight up from the now dampened page. Gross. She thought to herself experiencing the type of second hand embarrassment that most new students do. Atlas was wearing light blue boyfriend jeans paired with a white Jersey corset top and an over sized black leather jacket thrown over her shoulders. Her hand fisted into her pocket pulling out a necklace that had an oval pearl charm attached to its chain. Legend has it, it was once said to omit magic, but she had no idea how to activate it. Her grandmother, Alice told her stories about the elves that she had befriended as a young girl that she was practically raised by. Her grandmother had gifted her the charm on her deathbed and said that its power can’t be in the wrong hands. Atlas’s fingers gently tinkered with the jewel around her neck. Will she ever be worthy of possessing magic? If she does get the chance whats the worst that could happen? Quickly fastening the necklace she got up from the table and began to head towards the coffee shop.
Despite her adventurous nature Atlas hated feeling like she didn’t know what to do. New school, new social life the possibilities would be endless. Magic had been carved into the walls of this city.
Arriving at the coffee shop, its high walls and its punchy but delightful scent of espresso, Atlas's amber eyes lit up at the sight of the matcha latte. Standing in line, she gazed over the assortment of french pastries her mouth watering. She had always been a girl of expection, a lust for the unimaginable, life itself can be just as exciting as a fresh butter croissant. ]
