Nice to meet you!
Fostering six cats sounds adorable but also like a lot of work!

Oh yes it was a blast but consumed a lot of time. Add on to that I work and go to school full time, have two other cats, and four dogs! Two of the kittens were really sickly. The male came to me lethargic and needed a bit of nutritional supplements to boost him up, but he bounced back really quick. The runt of the females had really bad congestion and required nebulization and antibiotics every day. She was on formula much longer than the others because she wasn't gaining any weight. I got her and other one of the females adopted out from someone I knew, and now I see them often because they became patients at my hospital

Kind of an upsetting update. Trae and Mystic, two kittens we socialized a couple of months ago, are still at the shelter. We saw them today and they looked scared and miserable, and Trae is now quite overweight. It's so sad when I think about how they were thriving in our home a couple of months ago.

I miss having fosters. Kitten season is coming, though, so I feel like we'll get some soonish.

We got a new foster named Aldo. He's an adult black male, and we're fostering him to see if he'll be nice and use the litterbox in a home setting. So far, he's been bullying my fiancée by invading her space and then getting angry when she moves lol. Hopefully he gets nicer as he gets over the stress of moving.

Now he's just hiding out in his carrier. Seems to be really stressed, poor guy.

Aldo wants nothing to do with us lol. He seems like a grumpy old man who's tired of BS, and honestly I don't blame him. He hisses and swats any time we try to make contact with him. I'm fine to let him be, but the shelter wants us to try to socialize him more. Honestly, I would just rather let him settle in and adjust; if he wants to hang with us, that's cool--if not, I want to respect that.

Okay, so now he's turned into a complete snuggle bug! He loves cuddles and purrs when we touch him. I guess he just needed time to adjust . . .

We had to hide our butter dish because Aldo loves licking butter He's a goofy boy.

Unfortunately, Aldo has started urinating in the house. We're not sure why, because his behavior seems normal and we've been keeping his litterbox clean, but it's a problem. Our theory is that he gets upset when he can't be around people.

Aldo's going back to the shelter tomorrow. We're going to get two adult cat fosters after him, although I don't know if that will be tomorrow or some other day.

We returned Aldo today and got two new fosters, Avery (female) and Avett (male). They are both gorgeous gray longhaired cats with SUPER fluffy tails and beautiful green eyes. They are both extremely friendly and cuddly and soft. Here are some first photos:

Avery is the the freakin' CUTEST. She's so dainty and polite, and her fluffy tail has a curly q at the end. Pictures don't do her justice. Avett is adorable too and very friendly.

Here's a pic of Avery that shows how cool her aquamarine eyes are (although they're even prettier irl!)

We got contacted today to potentially take in a very mean cat who tries to attack people to see if he will do better in a home situation. Not sure if it's going to work out (the staff at the shelter are struggling with him quite a bit, and things are kind of up in the air), but we'll see.

We didn't end up getting Waldorf as a foster because he was deemed too dangerous for foster volunteers.
(Waldorf is the cat mentioned above)

I just found out that my local humane society publishes a list of adoptees every couple of weeks, so I've finally been able to confirm that Trae, Mystic, Kevin, Clark, and Viola have been adopted!!!!
I'm pretty sure Aldo, Avery, and Avett have also been adopted, as they are not on the website anymore. Hopefully they will announce their adoptions in the next Facebook post.

It's confirmed-Aldo, Avery, and Avett have been adopted!
Also, we picked up two new fosters yesterday, two young and shy torties named Baylene and Midge. I will post pictures once they are confident enough to come out of their hiding spots!

Here's a picture of Midge! She's still frightened, but she lets us pet her.

Here's Baylene. She's the shyer one of the two We're not sure how old they are. They look like older kittens and I swear they're siblings, but they're listed as one (Midge) and two (Baylene) years old on their papers.

We took them in for surgery yesterday, and then the shelter said that they weren't going to give them back until Saturday to "monitor their behavior." Not really sure what that means, or why they need to do that, but whatever. They haven't displayed any super concerning behaviors with us, they are they type of cats who are terrified but still let you pet/handle them.

We're making some progress with Baylene and Midge, they both are food motivated. Midge seems to enjoy pets and is quite curious, despite being fearful.

We had to bring Midge back to the shelter because she was bullying Baylene, who was regressing and having physical health problems because of it. Hopefully Midge will be able to be put up for adoption, though, because she was doing quite well with people/

Baylene is acting a lot less fearful, but she will only accept/express affection in exchange for food. As soon as it becomes clear she will not be getting more food, she starts swatting at us and walks away. Not sure if this is something that can be improved or if that's her personality.

We returned Baylene to the shelter today for adoption. She did NOT like us putting her in the carrier, and gave my fiancée a few scratches. This will probably be our last foster because we are moving soon.

Midge has been adopted!!! Baylene, on the other hand, hasn't even been listed for adoption because she isn't ready

Baylene is officially up for adoption on the website. I think she'll be a tough sell, since she's aloof, scared, and kind of fussy (and she's in competition with all the adorable kittens from kitten season). Hopefully someone will decide she's right for them, though!
