I have this idea to write what is a loose crossover of Warrior cats and the 1984 murder mystery novel, Felidae.
In this crossover, the plot focuses not on the Clans, but rather on The Sisters, a group of she-cats who were introduced in the super edition Squirrelflight’s Hope. The Sisters are a primarily all-female group, as they send away all their male cats when they are six moons (months) old, but keep their female members. The toms are sent away because the Sisters believe they are born with a sacred duty to wander and protect the land.
I have this idea because I find it a bit too much of a coincidence that Ice, the Sister who encountered Tree when he considered returning to the Sisters and expressed his sadness and loneines to her, was the one who left. Also because I think ''Warriors'' is somewhat lacking in Tragic Villains.
Please note, this is just a prototype version of the script, and will be updated later.
Script
Like in canon, Ice has an encounter with Earth, who is unhappy about having to be sent away to live alone just because of his gender. He asks to rejoin the Sisters, but Ice convinces him to continue his wander. However, the encounter with Earth plants a seed of doubt in Ice’s mind about the morality of the Sister’s traditions regarding toms.
Over a year later, Moonlight has another litter of kittens. One of them, a smart and kind, but undersized and somewhat timid and impulsive black tom who is named ‘Nightshade,’ is nervous about leaving the Sisters just like Earth was. And just like with Earth, the Sisters brush off all of Nightshade’s concerns and feelings. Out of all the Sisters, only Ice feels sympathy for Nightshade, but she makes no attempt to convince the Sisters to let him stay.
On the night of Nightshade’s farewell ceremony, the Sisters’ camp is suddenly attacked by a pair of stray dogs which injure Nightshade’s leg so badly he can’t walk.
With Nightshade unable to go on his wander, and the Sisters unwilling to break tradition by allowing him to stay so his wound can heal, Moonlight takes Nightshade to the nearest place she thinks will be ‘safe’ for him; a mysterious nearby human building. Nightshade doesn’t want to go, but Moonlight insists and he reluctantly agrees. Out of all the Sisters, only Ice looks back at Nightshade as they leave him to live in the world of humans.
Three years later, Ice is still living with the Sisters. She does her duties, but the events with Earth and Nightshade still prey on her mind. Furthermore, she comes to realize, after a fight with a fox, that she actually enjoys fighting, unlike her fellow Sisters. One day, the Sisters pass the place where they left Nightshade, only to discover that it has been burnt down. Ice is shocked and worried that something happened to Nightshade. Some of the other Sisters are shocked too, but Moonlight rationalizes that Nightshade either must have escaped or been taken by the humans to another place. Ice’s faith in her mother starts to crack even more.
Later, Ice meets a smart and friendly black tom called Francis, who shows her something she has never seen before; a dead human. Ice has seen many humans before, but never a dead one. The human died from having his throat torn open. Francis explains to Ice that many other humans have died in the exact same way over the past year; sometimes they have been found dead in their very own beds. As a result of all these deaths, humans are getting nervous, and some house cats (including Francis himself) are losing their owners and homes. One of these cats is an expectant mother, Lilly, whom Francis is currently helping to find food. Lilly asks the Sisters if she can stay with them for a while, and they agree.
Ice decides to help Francis find out whatever is killing the humans. He tells her that he doesn’t think it is another human, as none of the houses the humans were murdered in have broken into in human-like ways. Upon examining the corpse of a freshly killed human professor and his young son, Ice and Francis conclude that the killer is an animal, as the gashes in the throats of the murdered humans were caused either by teeth or claws or both.
In their investigations, they encounter the ‘Claudandus Sect’, a large cult of cats led by a small, hairless she-cat called Agatha, and an exceptionally large, long-haired brown tom called Joker who is missing an ear, which pray to and worship a cat called ‘Claudandus’ and revile an evil Twoleg called ‘Preterius.’ The cultist cats chase Ice and Francis, but they escape to a house where they meet a blind she-cat called Felicity. She tells them she has vague memories of being tortured by humans as a kitten, which Francis concludes is what caused her blindness.
After they leave Felicity’s house, the cultist cats catch up to Ice and Francis, who again manage to escape this time to the destroyed building where the Sisters left Nightshade. Inside, they find a damaged, but still partially readable book; the journal of the scientist called Professor Julies Preterius.
Reading through the readable parts of the book, Francis and Ice learn that the building was a laboratory, where Preterius and several other scientists were testing medicines designed to heal flesh wounds on cats. However, the experiments usually failed, resulting in the cats dying horrific and extremely painful deaths. When the scientists found Nightshade outside their door, they at first treated him well, appointing him their ‘mascot,’ fixing his wounded leg and giving him treats. But when they tested the medicine on him, it unexpectedly worked. Determined to find out way the medicine only worked on him, the scientists subjected Nightshade, whom they dubbed ‘Claudandus,’ to countless more of their torturous experiments for over six months. Unable to crack Claudandus’s genetic code, Preterius made plans to breed him and replicate his ‘mutation.’ However, wanting Claudandus to be ‘the best specimen,’ he made a serum designed to enhance one’s mental and physical abilities to the highest possible level, in order to turn Claudandus into a ‘super cat.’ The serum apparently failed, but Claudandus escaped and freed the other test subjects, and then confronted Preterius. The journal ends with the words, ‘Claudandus is coming.’
Ice and Francis conclude from the journal that Claudandus and Preterius fought and their battle started the fire that destroyed the lab, killing them both. Ice is distraught to learn what her brother went through because the Sisters abandoned him to live with humans.
Ice returns to the Sisters and tells her mother what she learned. Moonlight is initially shocked by what happened to Nightshade, but quickly rationalizes it by saying he ‘fulfilled his destiny.’ Ice is disgusted by her mother’s lack of concern and remorse. Most of the other Sisters are shocked by what happened to Nightshade, but they still agree with Moonlight, much to Ice’s dismay.
As they continue their investigation, Ice and Francis are led to an abandoned human shelter, where they are introduced to Grievous, a very large, mysterious black tom covered in scars and with exceptional strength, speed, and intellect. He offers to help them in their investigation by using his ability to use human technology.
The investigation continues. Despite their best efforts, more and more humans are killed and no trace of the killer is found.
However, Ice eventually notices something on the corpses they missed before; a strangely shaped cut. The cut is in the shape of a circle inside of a circle, with two thin lines, one on the top and one on the bottom of the outer circle. Ice thinks it looks familiar, but she can’t quite figure out why.
Remembering what Felicity said, Ice and Francis head back to her house to see if she knows anything else, only to find that she has been murdered too. However, she has managed to leave a message carved onto a chair; “three are one.” Ice and Francis can’t figure out what that means.
Shortly afterwards, the Sisters are attacked by the Claudandus Cult, which claims the Sisters must leave or die because they ‘act like humans by sending away their own sons and taking multiple mates only to abandon them.’ Even the Sisters are vastly outnumbered and one of their members is heavily pregnant and another has kits, Moonlight stubbornly refuses to back down from the Claudandus Cult, and a battle ensues. The Sisters are easily defeated, but they are able to escape. The event leaves Ice even more disillusioned with her mother.
In the midst of their investigation, Ice and Francis are developing feelings for each other. Noticing this, Moonlight tells Ice that she is free to leave the Sisters if she wants to be mates with Francis. This only angers Ice, who points out that the Sisters would never allow her to stay if she chooses to be with Francis.
Later, Ice and Francis sit on the top of an old house, and are about to admit their feelings for each other when suddenly they overhear two kitten cultist cats talking about eavesdropping on their leaders being told by the ‘big, black cat,’ to attack the Sisters.
Ice suddenly puts the clues together. She realizes that Nightshade, Claudandus, and Grievous are all the same cat, and he is the murderer and schemer.
Ice and Francis go to Grievous’ lair, an abandoned war shelter, where Grievous confirms their suspicions. He explains that Preterius’s serum actually worked on him, greatly enhancing his size, strength, speed, agility, and intelligence. Using his new abilities, he escaped his cage, freed Preterius’ other test subjects, and killed Preterius, after which he set fire to the lab to cover his tracks. Unable to move on from his tragic past due to suffering from daily flashbacks and nightmares of it, he renamed himself ‘Grievous’ both to ‘free’ himself from his past names given to him by ones who hurt him, and as a symbol of his grievous life. Deeply embittered by his experiences, Grievous now seeks to destroy humanity. Ever since his escape, he has been killing humans and marking them with a cut in the shape of his scarred left eye in order to make him ‘feel his fear.’ He intends to keep killing humans.
When Ice asks why he encouraged the cult to attack the Sisters, Grievous explains that he also wants revenge on the Sisters for giving him to the humans. He encouraged the attack on them in an attempt to ‘teach them a lesson.’
Ice tries to reason with Grievous, pointing out that there are good humans, but he won’t listen, denouncing humans as pure monsters.
Having come looking for Ice, Moonlight and Ice’s younger sister, Vixen, and two other sisters, Eagle and Owl, overhear Grievous’ confession. Moonlight asks Grievous why he has ‘forgotten his duty’ as a tom to wander and protect the land. Grievous denounces the Sisters’ traditions as ‘lies’ created to justify their selfish desire to live without toms. He then reveals that he planned the whole thing; he triggers a switch which closes the door, trapping himself, Francis and the Sistera inside the room.
Grievous then offers the Sisters a choice; abandon their traditions or be killed. Disgusted with her son, Moonlight denounces Grievous, blaming him for his own suffering and telling him he needs to stop ‘being selfish.’
Heartbroken and enraged, Grievous attacks the six cats and an intense battle ensues. Despite being outnumbered, Grievous defeats all of his opponents, killing Vixen, Owl, and Eagle and injuring the others.
Realizing that Grievous is beyond saving and that he needs to be killed both for his own sake and everyone else's sake, Ice reluctantly kills him instead by impaling him through the chest with a wooden stake as he lunges at her. Mortally wounded, Grievous, having unconsciously wanted to die the entire time, accepts his fate and lies down to die. While unable to condone her half-brother’s evil actions, Ice is overcome with sadness and remorse, and apologizes for everything Grievous had been through because the Sisters made the mistake of abandoning him to live with humans. Grievous accepts her apology and dies.
Afterwards, Ice buries Grievous’ body. Moonlight, who has been watching, eventually shows herself. Moonlight remains unrepentant and unremorseful, insisting to Ice that they must keep what happened to Grievous a secret so that the Sisters can continue living as they always have. This proves to be the final straw for Ice, who slaps her mother and tells her that her arrogance and stubbornness will get her killed one day. Ice then leaves the Sisters forever, and becomes mates with Francis, walking off into the sunset with him.
