Tribe of Falling Sands (Open!!!)

Blue's eyes widened when two of her children were called forward to quarantine, it did little to help her panic go down. What if both Storm and Thunder got sick? No one knew the source of this kittypet disease, or how deadly it was. She frowned more and glanced around, looking for Glitter or Branch. They had to be okay. If all four of her kits were to get sick, she's not sure what she would do.

It was pretty cute the way that Dusk was describing his feelings for Star, and she tried not to chuckle. Rosemary would feel bad if he thought she was making fun of him, she just found the whole thing rather endearing. Turning her attention back to the gathering, she watched as Storm, Thunder, and Cloud were called up. "I'm not sure, let me ask around." 

Leaving Dusk's side, she spotted Branch and Buck not too far off in front of the sand runner's den. Rosemary nodded to the two toms before glancing back to the crowd. "Do you two know what's going on? Something about cats needing to quarantine?" She asked with a frown.

"Maybe it wasn't a trader?" Star asked aloud, but quiet enough for just Sun to hear. The shadow guard frowned, trying to wrack her brain if she'd seen anyone leaving the oasis. It was just her who'd been on guard duty, so it was hard to cover the grounds at all times, or be able to know who exactly was going in and out of the oasis. Knowing all of that, Star still frowned, feeling like it might've been her fault for letting something slip that she should've been on top of. "I hope whoever it is that they recover quickly." 


Storm that Brews on Clouded Sky - w/ Thunder, Cloud, & Sandseer - crescent camp
"Huh? Oh, yeah, okay." Storm frowned up at Fang before padding forward and joining his sister and Cloud beside his father. He looked over his tribemates and wished he was up here for a different reason. The young tom glanced over his shoulder to look at the medicine den. His chest tightened when he realized that Mouse must've been the one to have gotten sick, remembering how she'd gotten scolded by Fang and Sunflower about leaving the oasis. Storm's fur prickled, but he tried to keep calm even though he was frustrated that Mouse's recklessness got her sick and brought a disease to the tribe. 


Duke - w/ Cinnamon - twoleg camp
Duke narrowed his eyes at his sister, biting his tongue to stop himself from saying something he might regret. Letting out a heavy sigh, the tom shook his head and stood. "It's fine, Cinnamon. I'm gonna go lay down." He said and let out a couple of coughs, his face scrunching up after. His throat still hurt immensely, but the medicine their twolegs were giving him definitely helped. After turning, Duke left to curl up in his fluffy bed. 

Sandseer looked to Blue sadly"If any cats have had contact with them please let me know so we can make sure you are fine"he called out.


Branch frowned"Storm, Thunder, and Cloud were separated due to that kittypet illness coming to the Tribe"he explained


Cloud kept the two apprentices close"we can wait over under some trees. It won't take too long"he said, trying to reassure them.


Fang frowned"Cloud, Storm, and Thunder were exposed to that kittypet illness"he whispered

(i think moonclaw would have to confirm, but it sounded like it this would be the first occurrence of redcough hitting the tribe, since Sandseer mentioned an illness spreading amongst the kittypet's only a couple moons ago when they left the last oasis.
i also, personally, interpreted the plot that this would be an unknown disease that the tribe was experiencing for the first time, but again Moon would have to confirm 🤷‍♀️)

(Tbh I agree. I assumed this because the Sandseer said they noticed a disease spreading through kittypets, and I guessed this may hav happened before. Moonclaw, if this isn’t true I’ll change my replies a little. But if it were true that it hit before I’m guessing it would only be for a short period of time and they didn’t learn much about it.)

(The traders would possibly know more due to interacting with kittypets/rogues/loners more)

Branch frowned"My younger siblings appear to have interacted with someone with it along with Cloud. Hopefully no one actually has it"


Fang nodded, clearly on edge"i hope our ancestors will let this pass quickly"

Branch sighed"for now, I suppose we give the Sandseer space. If anyone has it, he's gonna be interacting with them"


"All we can do is hope"Fang said softly"if you feel ill at all, let me know and I'll get the Sandseer ok?"

Dusk that Brings Cold (Dusk)

Dusk realized he wasn’t gonna get any more information off of what Branch and Buck were saying, so he padded off to the shadow guard den. Now with all his thoughts off his mind, he was looking forward to some sleep. After a few moments of tossing and turning, Dusk started to fall asleep.

Mouse coughed once more. She was stressed out, and the problems she had weren’t things she were capable of solving at the moment. Mouse tried to let out a sigh, but just coughed up blood.
“Ancestors, please let me and my tribemates live!” She thought.

“Don’t worry about me,” Sunflower told Fang. He then went back into the sand runners den. Sunflower wasn’t tired, but there wasn’t much he could do.

Buck shrugged, "I suppose." But, even with Rosemary's consolation, his mind still lingered on one thought. What if Snow gets the sickness while traveling and decides to leave. He'd hate if Snow left.

Blue made eye contact with her mate and frowned for a moment before offering an encouraging look, she then turned and spotted Glitter's white pelt near the elder's den where she'd just seen Root go through the entrance. She weaved her way through the crowd and approached her eldest daughter, sticking by her side and giving her cheek a lick. Her blue eyes swept over the crowd once more, looking for Branch.

Rosemary's gaze lingered on Branch for a moment, wondering where he'd gotten that idea. She just smiled softly and turned to look for Dusk. Seemed he'd disappeared somewhere because he wasn't where she'd left him. Not wanting to sit by herself, she remained with the shadow guard, and her fellow sand runner, her head turned up to pay attention to what the Sandseer had to say.

"Yes, hopefully." Star responded, letting out a heavy sigh. A pit sat heavy in the bottom of her stomach, a feeling that things wouldn't get better from here. If this kittypet cough was anything like whitecough or greencough then surely more cats would become infected. No one knew how fast it could spread, except perhaps the traders. Casting a wary glance towards Sun, it was Sandseer's next words that fully caught her attention. "A vision from the ancestors? Maybe it's good news." She spoke, though softly and mostly to herself. Though, with Sun right beside her it wouldn't be surprising if he heard, too.

Feeling Cloud's tail wrap around him was comforting, he'd always respected the older tom, but more-so after seeing how calming of a mentor he was. He stopped when Cloud spoke, looking over his shoulder before turning around fully. What more was there to say? Storm's held tilted curiously, wondering what kind of vision his father had.

Dusk froze for a moment. The Sandseer was going to die? He stepped outside his den, and looked at his tribemates. Their faces all showed looks of horror, and so did Dusk’s. Sandseer was never very friendly with Dusk, but he had been the Sandseer for many moons. Dusk didn’t think this day would bring this many challenges!

Mouse eye’s widened, and she lifted her head. Did Sandseer just say what she had thought he said? A part of her wanted to barge out of the medicine den to see if this was true, but Mouse knew she was in no condition for that.

“What…?” Sunflower gasped. He limped closer to Fang, and got a glimpse of the Sandseer’s face. He looked worried, but seemed to be trying to stay calm.

"It will be ok"Sandseer called out to his tribemates"despite this, I will make sure you have a successful successor to my position. And I will continue to watch over you all, for now, we need not focus on that"

(there's something about Glitter looking the most like Blue out of the bunch that i find absolutely adorable)

With a sad expression, Blue nodded and laid her head on Glitter's shoulder. "I'm afraid he's being very serious, dear." She spoke softly, afraid her voice might break and tears may shed if said anymore. Now that the tribe knew, there was no denying Sandseer's inevitable death. Wanting to be strong for her kits, Blue lifted her head and tried to ignore her heavy heart, for now.

Rosemary couldn't believe what she was hearing. A sickness spreading within their tribe, and now Sandseer was dying? She could hear Branch beside her and she looked at him, noticing how his claws flexed into the sand. Frowning, the russet molly leaned against her fellow sand runner, trying to wordlessly show her support.

Of course it wouldn't be good news. Star's fur bristled and she visibly tensed as well, a frown set deep on her face. Her tail lashed and she let her head hang, choosing to stare at her paws instead of at their sandseer. How long had he known? Did sandseers always know when they were going to die? "It's not true, it can't be true." Star spoke softly, looking to Sun. Seemed it was true as Sandseer tried to reassure his tribe.

Storm could feel his blood go cold as he heard his father announce that he would be dying soon. His bushy tail grew twice in size and he wasn't sure which emotion he was feeling more strongly, anger at his father being taken from them so young, or sadness over his soon-to-be passing. Thunder's words hit especially, and he looked to his sister. Storm leaned over and licked her forehead. "Let's go over to the trees, then. Like Cloud said earlier." He spoke just as softly, looking to the den caretaker as well.

Vulture - appalled that his son might get sick, frustrated with whoever brought it to the tribe, and shocked that Sandseer is dying - in his opinion - so young.

Cactus - worried about his tribemates, worried about finding a cure, worried about Sandseer, but ultimately trusting whoever he picks to lead next.)
