Opinions on Squirrelflight?

I love her! She’s really interesting!

I adore Squirrelflight! Both her personality and story are interesting (while also relatable to me in case of the former and sad in the latter case). I truly want her to be happy.

Hate her more than any other character

Neutral, bordering on dislike. I liked her a lot up until TBC. She just became so selfish when it came to getting Bramblestar back. So many cats died just for him, Bristlefrost died PERMANENTLY for him. I like Bramblestar, but I would much rather have had him perma-die having lived a full life than let Bristlefrost die, someone who has barely started her life. Squirrelflight barley acknowledged the deaths that resulted from her crusade to save Bramblestar, and it comes off as though she didn’t care as long as she got her precious mate back. She caused turmoil in ThunderClan over her grief as well, and caused a problem for all of the Clans. If she hadn’t prevented Tigerstar from killing Bramblestar’s body, Bristlefrost might have lived, as would have Graystripe and Snowtuft. And after all that, she berates Bramblestar while he is obviously mentally unwell, and goes behind his back for a stupid reason.
I just can’t like her anymore. She’s become extremely selfish, and maybe she was always that way (how she acted about the Hawkfrost situation was wrong, trying to force Jay and Lion to forgive Leafpool), but it became most evident in TBC.

TNP-PoT: loved her.
OoTS: still liked her. Although I did find some her actions in a few scenes questionable and appalling, however still overall liked her.

Bramblestar’s Storm. Very much enjoyed her character and honestly was ecstatic with joy when her and Bramblestar rekindled their relationship( don’t @ me for that one lol). And their bonus scene in TAQ was adorable.

AVoS: Neutral-like. There’s not really a ton of her in that arc. And maybe that’s for the best.

SqH-Present: Flatline insufferable. Her behaviors awful. Her constantly arguing and undermining Bramblestar, even in front of other clan leaders, is just distasteful and unprofessional. Her idiosyncrasy of taking every contrary opinion, or not immediately being vindicated of her own opinions as a personal attack is emotionally immature.

And the continuous barrage of relationship drama has seriously been beaten raw. At least their drama back in TNP and breakup are relatable and understandable, and actually had legitimate reasons to them.

Brambleclaw breaking up their relationship was harsh, but perfectly understandable regarding the circumstances. And how people have tried to undermine and downplay the effects it undoubtedly had upon him just makes me smh.

Squirrelflight keeping the secret was undeniably atrocious. However, I can still sympathize with her to some extent. Her and Leafpool had an unconditional bond of love and loyalty, and Leafpool was in a very precarious position. And Squirrelflight being willing to shoulder such a burden for her sister is commendable. And she’s deserving of some clemency, considering her still being a very young, newly ordained warrior that lacks introspective reasoning, and capacity to weigh out the possible repercussions from her decisions, and with less impulsivity in general.

However, she’s a full grown adult now. So there’s really no excuse for her impulsive, immature and rather disrespectful nature nowadays. And all the recent relationship drama is just an insufferable mesh of bull forcibly shoved into the readers face whenever the editors strike an insurmountable wall of writer’s block, and have nothing else to fill their quota of manuscripts for new books.

It’s a disheartening shame that she’s fallen so far from grace. Given she gave the impression on the latter half of OoTS to have matured, become more introspective and pensive with her decision making, and much less prone to be argumentative and having to prove herself right in every debate. And was showcased to be a pretty efficient and competent deputy during Bramblestar’s Storm, that had no qualms in challenging Bramblestar’s decisions, and offering alternative solutions without being a disrespectful and immature 12 year old. And could handle others disagreeing with her without taking it as a personal slight against her.

I still very much enjoy her in the original arcs…. The new arcs? The sooner she’s shelved honestly the better, she’s been butchered beyond repair, and don’t see her recovering to a level that I’d at least find her tolerable at this point.

I've started to dislike her a lot, she's just gotten kind of annoying and boring. I think the problem is that she's been used way too much for way too long.
