Leap
A small black cat writhed it's way around the front gates and trotted likely unnoticed down the mossy cobbled path directly up to the front porch of the house looking for a way in through the half boarded windows and what she expected was to be a closed and locked door, not that she could open it anyway with her paws since the knob was round and smooth rather than a lever-handle. She began to sniff around and pace, looking upwards to a way possibly to climb up to the second or third floors instead since there seemed to be no way in from the porch or in her current condition. Her golden eyes finally caught a small candle light from an open window on the second story- all three of them glittered and contracted as she readied a wiggle to claw her way up one of the wooden support beams and hopefully make it to the top of the portico.

There was someone already sitting on portico. He looked very awkward and had all of his lanky limbs pulled close to himself. His eyes were following the cat though. Huh.
He blinked. This was puzzling. There were a couple people around, but he was busy fidgeting with his ring, spinning it around and around his spindly fingers. "... Who are you?" he asked, his violet eyes sparkling with curiosity. There was a shuffle of feathers as he stood, his grey feathers around him. It made him a lot taller than the cat, though it hopefully wasn't going to scare it. As the light from the moon hit his rings, there was a bit of an aura of purple around his wings.
Glowstick wings.
Leap
When she clawed her way up, she didn't notice something- some ONE else was up there until he spoke. Her claws stayed unsheathed and gripping the shingles now, hackles raised and tail fluffed. She let out a low warning growl. If not for the third eye in the middle of her forehead she would have looked like any normal black cat, blending in like part of the scenery in the given surroundings.
She, of course could understand perfectly what he said but in this form she was mostly like any normal house cat. Though he didn't need to know what she was or what her abilities were if she could prevent giving them away. This was the life of a witch, being wary of everyone as they might be the next to try to burn you at the stake. She only hoped he wasn't the type of person- or creature, that could sense ambient magical power. Maybe if she was fast enough she could just scurry into the open window before he could make a move and get lost within the house itself.

"... Silent type," Lupin said, almost dully. His head tilted and he looked at the cat for a long time - from his perception of time, which in this case was maybe two to three seconds. Then he said, "Are you going to say anything or are you just going to hiss? I'm not going to do anything to you."
Look at him? What was he supposed to do. Push someone off the room? That seemed very rude and, on to of that, not particularly practical. Why make enemies with something that was pretty powerful looking.
"Did I do something wrong?"
Leap
She still bristled as she inched closer to the side of the wall and towards the window away from him. So he can tell I'm something, but still doesn't have the brains to think I'm a bloody cat right now? I can't speak even if I wanted to. Fool. She let out a low warning meow, hoping he'd get the picture and just maybe let her sneak by without bother.
She could of course, transform back at any time with a little time and effort, shapeshifting for a human was a painful ordeal and made her vulnerable. Or, something that at least was human once, and still is... mostly. She was hoping to stay out of sight and not be bothered but that plan seemed to have been foiled the minute she ran into this... whatever the glowing wing entity was.
Never in all her research had she seen anything quite like it. Him? She still saw these entities, spirits, demons, angels, and monsters detailed in books as things of scientific and alchemical structure rather than people even though she was more like them now for all her tinkering.
Either way, transforming was not something she was going to do in front of any one or thing here.

There was a long pause from Lupin, then he crouched and held out his hand to the cat. As if he was waiting for it to sniff at him.
"You seem scared," he admitted. "I'm not scary, promise."
Debatable. Since this was completely up to the viewer. Whatever the cat thought was what was actually the truth. Lupin tilted his head, waiting for a verdict. "Anything? This is strange, I suppose."
He still didn't drop his hand.
Leap
Liliana inched a bit closer, but kept her back to the side of the house and was still aiming to leap in the open window at any moment. Her cat nose could pick up his scent a little as he held out his hand. To her, he smelled like a mix of crisp leaves and something else she couldn't make out. It almost seemed like the smell of "nothing" but it was still "something". Her hackles were slowly falling back down.
She waved her tail towards the window and jumped in, deciding he was at least not an immediate threat. They could continue the conversation inside.
Mint
Okay then. Lupin still got the impression he'd said something wrong, but he wanted to press the issue while inside rather than trying to shout through the window.
He couldn't jump in. It was a tight squeeze with his wings and he had to wiggle inside. Then it was a bit of a drop to the floor, which creaked omniously.
The purple glow from his wings did light up the interior a bit though.
Cobwebs. Lots of them. And the cat was somewhere, he just couldn't work out where.
"Hello?" he asked. "Where were you planning to go?"
Leap
The crunch and snapping of bone came from just behind a covered armoire and a hunched dark figure stood up straight and turned to face him. She was tall and pale with black hair and a silver and purple cloak wrapped around her, with a black and gray skin tight suitbunderneath. The suit came with many pouches, straps, holders, and clasps. At least three of which resided visible daggers across her chest, and one holster at her side with a potion emitting a soft green glow. . The same three bright yellow eyes as the cat stared back at him in the dim light of his wings.
"I'm not sure what you are getting at, but I can't speak as a cat." she explained calmly. "What are you?" she dared to ask, "I've never seen anything quite like you before."
Mint
"Oh."
Lupin seemed ... almost disappointed. As if he'd only been planning to talk to a cat.
Well, this was still fine. He just wasn't keen on answering.
"You're not a cat then. I'm voting you go first, since you're the one who suddenly drastically changed appearances. What are you?"
He was still looking around a bit, but for now they just seemed in an old, dusty room with old, dusty furniture.
Leap
"Just a witch. A simple morph spell, nothing more." she replied. It was only half of the truth, but the full truth would have been much more complicated to explain. "It was important for me to not be seen coming in, which I still clearly failed at."
She paused for a second unsure if she wanted to tell him the next thing, then decided since she was already in the house, it couldn't hurt. "I wasn't exactly invited in but I guess you could say I have old business. I need to find the library."
Mint
"Just?" Lupin questioned. "Seems a bit more special than that." He was impressed though. He knew of witches, but didn't know they could turn into cats.
"And yes, I suppose you did. Why did you want to come in so badly?"
Lupin didn't see much of purpose here, but maybe she did.
"What might the library have?"
Now he was curious. Really curious. Just from the tone of voice, he seemed to say 'I'm coming too.'
Leap
"Magic can do almost anything, if you know how and stay dedicated to it. Ah, but you still haven't told me what YOU are." She felt slightly uneasy about still not knowing. She couldn't exactly sense evil, but that didn't mean that this thing couldn't still cause harm or chaos.
"I'm looking for.... basically anything that would be of use to my studies. Old tomes and grimoirss, experiment files, encyclopedias of flora and fauna or alchemical ingredients..." She counted on her fingers and gestured about the room while speaking. It was obvious that learning was a passion to her and just as much of a hobby as it was her job as a witch. "If you insist on following me and can help me find anything interesting I'll expain more."
Mint
"You're clearly dedicated," Lupin said with a low whistle. And he raised both glow-stick purple tinted wings in an almost abashed shrug. "Er. Ah. A ... er. Reject angel. Bargen box bin. 50% off. Three days past expiration date. Yeah. Name's Lupin."
No evil aura at all here. He seemed a bit pathetic, actually.
He did nod though. Then pointed toward the door (it was obvious. He didn't need to point) and said, "That way? I'm willing to help. I can reach tall shelves."
As if she couldn't. She was a witch. But the statement wasn't meant to be demeaning, just ignorant.
Leap
Liliana seemed even more confused, unsure whether to be relieved or more on-edge than ever. "A... reject angel. Not a fallen angel?" she tested, clearly implying Lupin might be a demon. "How does one become 'rejected'?"
She started to walk in the general direction he pointed as she talked, trusting him enough to turn her back to him. She decided in her mind she was at least smarter than him enough to get away if he did try anything. "I have had experiences with both demons and angels, but you are... different."
Mint
"No," Lupin said, squirming slightly. "Slight ... difference. Important difference, but still I suppose, only slight." He didn't like the tone. His grey wings shook a bit. He seemed embarrassed more than anything. "Rejected ... I don't have a particular ... purpose anymore, I suppose you could say. That's how. There really isn't a better way of saying that I'm simply not needed under my prior purpose."
He was different. He doubted there was a lot more to say than that. Still, he did wonder how she was picking up on that.
"What experience?"
That seemed like an important question.
The hallway was thin, but there was a bit of a clear sign that Liliana's search for books would not take long. The hallway was narrow because the walls were lined with bookcases.
Leap
Liliana finally let her guard slip a little. An angel, even a purposeless one, was far better than a demon. "That sounds unfortunate." she said in a tone that suddenly sounded sympathetic rather than hostile. "The details aren't important, but I was slave to a demon for some time, and it was an angel that finally freed me from it's grasp." she explained.
"In fact, if you can find anything mentioning angels or demons specifically around here, or even tell me anything that would be most helpful. Even though I spent a lot of time carrying out dirty work for them there are... gaps in my knowledge that I want to rectify as soon as possible." She turned away and immediately started thumbing through stacks of books and skimming titles and authors on the spines.
Mint
That was curious. Lupin tilted his head and considered this prospect. Huh.
"That sounds pretty rough," he admitted. "I don't think I have much frame of reference, I'm afraid, but at least you're okay now." Presumably. Then again, he wasn't particularly sure of the details that he might have liked.
He stood there while she started flipping through the books around her. There wasn't any comment, as he seemed to be deep in thought. He wasn't really sure what to say - why was she looking?
"What purpose do you want to find this information for?" he eventually asked.
