I was reading the new writing contest and the terms/conditions said the prize will be "a printed dedication in the 2023 edition of The Ultimate Guide".
WE ARE GETTING A NEW EDITION OF IT!!!! AAGDHVJAZH

Super excited, I have the orginial and was always wondering when they were going to update it! I can't wait to see the new backstories and possibly new artwork!!! I think it would be cool if it showed an important seen from that cat's life for a artwork.

I imagine it will be somewhere in between a truly updated guide (with new character pages) and a reprinted version. They might update Ashfur's entry, for example, and other outdated entries. But I doubt we will get new character pages and designs because the old illustrator died. |

But I doubt we will get new character pages and designs because the old illustrator died. Yeah, true. Like, I would not mind an actual updated guide edition with new artwork by Owen Richardson. But something just tells me that's probably not going to happen and we'll keep Wayne McLoughlin's (RIP) artwork in TUG for now. Perhaps I'll be pleasantly surprised, after all. If they do end up making a new guide for the upcoming 20th Anniversary in January. With the dedication of who ever wins the writing contest as well as maybe one for Wayne McLoughlin too. That's just an idea on my part though. |

Oh, I hope this guide is going to be much better and accurate compared to the original!
It's felt like so long since we got a guide book, I can't wait to see new art of our new characters. I'm particularly excited to see Violetshine

Although I'm also still waiting for an entire Dark Forest field guide (and a StarClan one to go alongside it), which just seems very unlikely at this point but oh well, here's to hoping. |

๐ฑ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ I'd be so happy if they made. StarClan/Dark Forest guide. I want backstories on all the df cats. It be cool to learn about StarClan cats from era's we don't know much about either, such a pre-Bluestar ERA and post/pre-Mapleshade ERA

I'm obsessed with the other guides cause they introduce little characters that nobody's seen before and they're always just kinda interesting. Like Whitetail - the one that gave Tigerclaw a life. She's just kinda cool.

I just hope Juniperclaw, Snowtuft, Silverhawk, Sparrowfeather, Maggottail, and Redwillow are included. Looking forward to seeing to at least seeing Shadowsight, Nightheart, Rootspring, Tree, Frostpaw, Sunbeam, Flipclaw, Thriftear, Bristlefrost, Pouncestep, and Lightleap.

With just a dedication to whoever wins the "Hidden Prophecy" writing contest as the only new thing to it. At the very least, that's what I've been saying on other threads as also being a possibilty. Although of course, I'm hoping the reprinted Ultimate Guide will indeed actually feature updated artwork (maybe some portraits of cats we've not seen before/who've not been drawn by Owen Richardson before) as well as character pages in terms of information about other characters besides the ones we already got. |

I love the guidebooks and I love the useless guidebook only characters but my real biggest hope is literally just that they give Nightcloud a less awful description
