Excuse me if this topic has been discussed before, but i reread AVOS, Squilf's hope, and I'm currently on Lost Stars, but I've also read the whole src + the two recent books. I feel like, compared to stories we see of the older generations and the first couple of arcs, the clans are wayyy too reliant on StarClan. They stop talking to the clans and they act like it's the end of the world or that they need them to make decisions for them. It's so irritating! Especially characters like Jayfeather, who has seen first hand that they are not all-knowing, all-powerful gods but simply dead cats. That used to be a huge point for his character!
I know this is being explored more in the newest arc, but I'm curious as to what everyone else thinks. If things change so the clans revert back to being religious but independent thinkers I would be thrilled.

In some ways, yes, I agree that they are too reliant on StarClan. I'm surprise they didn't start questioning StarClan more after it was revealed that Ashfur, a StarClan cat, was possessing Bramblestar and using his body to do terrible things.

yeah, but only because StarClan keeps meddling more and more until the cats became used to it.

I really don't think the current arcs have the clans be more dependent on Starclan. Even back in the first arc, everyone still scattered when Starclan put clouds over the moon, it was always important.

I feel like there's a difference between them scattering at a warning from StarClan and needing StarClan to make every decision. In lost stars alderheart literally says something along the lines of "What if we chose the wrong path / make the wrong decision?" it seems like they need to consult StarClan before doing anything, and leaders/Medicine cats aren't trusted to simply make these decisions on their own experience and instinct. It was rare when leaders or medicine cats would seek out StarClan personally for advice, only in high-stress incidents.

Everyone's concerns in Lost Stars need to be taken with the context that this was them realizing something had overpowered Starclan and closed them off; not exactly something to brush off. Pretty much every single decision in ASC sans leader choices has been made without consulting Starclan whatsoever, and in AVOS it was pretty much the same barring a few prophetic dreams. The situation in TBC should be understood as a case of cats panicking over their gods basically being silenced by an unknown force. It's not that they expect Starclan to do everything for them.

I feel like starclan in general has become too present within the series. All the mystique and curiosity about starclan from the first arc has kinda withered away, and now they're just annoying.

I also have to agree that the clans are to dependent on Starclan, so much so that they practically worship them like gods.. For example, at gatherings, whenever fights break out and Starclan "Covers the moon" the cats end the gathering not wanting to face their "wrath". It's very annoying especially when the Erins confirm that the cats DO NOT BELIEVE they are almighty powerful beings. -.-
