Introduction
Are you looking for a pack to join? Are you looking for purpose? Do you want a family group that will be there for you? Maybe, you were kicked out of another packs for being different. The Blue Moon pack is the place for you. This pack has been around for generations and has been known to be accepting to all provided they show how serious they are in being part of the pack. Why not give it a shot?
About:
The Blue Moon pack is a diverse pack made up of wolves of different shapes and sizes. The common fur colors include, gray, brown, white, black or a mix of these. Red fur color is more on the rarer side. Some wolves can be on the smaller side while others can get pretty big. The pack will accept all those who are willing to give their best for the pack. The pack values, family, loyalty and honor.
Territory:
The pack's territory is main up of a deciduous and pine forests that stretches to large mountain peaks. There is a river that goes along the edge of the forest that flowers into a large lake. To the north east there is a open rocky area where you will find hot springs and a geyser.
Prey: Rabbits, mice, fish, elk, birds, deer, Moose and sometimes Bison.
Predators: Pumas, Bobcats, bears, Twolegs and other wolves.
Landmarks:
The Reflecting Lake: This lake is located at the base of the snowy mountains. The water especially near the shallow parts are so clear that you can see everything swimming beneath the surface. The beauty comes from the lake mirroring the sky which can be a site to behold on starry nights. The lake is a popular spot to hunt, train, swim, and bring others on dates.
Sacred Springs: The Sacred Springs are located in a rocky area and consists of a large, hot spring and several smaller springs near by. The springs are used as a place where healers can commune with the light souls pack. They say that a light souls pack member will descend from the sky, and either enter the spring or stand on top of it. Others claim, they emerge from the water. Other than being a place to talk to their ancestors, sick or injured wolves submerge themselves in the hot springs in order to feel better. Anyone can bathe in the hot spring, however there may be certain times of the year where only the higher ranks may bathe in the hot spring.
The Rapids: At the western border, there is a river that feeds into the lake. Upstream the water is slow and doesn't have much urgency, but downstream is a swift moving rapids that could sweep away even the most experienced swimmer. The river is dangerous after a rainfall and after the snow melts. At certain times of the year, bears will come to the river to catch and eat the fish. Most of the bears know the pack isn't a threat but still best to keep away until the bears are done eating.
The Thunder Woods: The Thunder woods is a denser section of the forest. At the edge of the forest is a set of train tracks that stretch on for miles. At least twice a day, a cargo or passenger train will speed on by whistling it's loud horn. Most creatures are used to this sound. However, at around leaf-fall hunters will come and use this area to hunt, sometimes using the sound of the train whistle to shoot their prey. Wolves are to be very careful when venturing into this area.
Be wary if you hear what sounds like a fellow wolf calling out to you or the sound of prey in trouble. This could be a trick!
Snowy Peaks: The Snowy Peaks are a set of mountains that stretch up high in the sky. Not much is known about the snowy peaks aside from rumors and legends. Wolves have tried to explore the mountains or see what's on the other side but they usually end up lost or having to turn around cause it's just to cold or too rugged. Aside from the cougars and bears that call this mountain home, there is a wolf pack that live deep within the mountain. Not much is known except that they are a secretive and territorial.
The Twoleg Town: The Twoleg town is located four hours away from the pack. The twolegs keep to their town, but occasionally they will travel to the forest to hike, fish, hunt ect. The pack is to stay away from the humans however if they get to into the pack territory then wolves are given permission to chase them away. The town has a many stray dogs that has formed their own mini packs. Entering the town is forbidden unless given permission by the alphas.
Camp:
Camp is a large cave located inside of a small mountain. Inside, there are tunnels that leads to large empty spaces for the wolves to sleep. Little ways from the entrance, you have the scouters, hunters and guardians dens. Across from them is the trainees den. Across from the entrance is long tunnel that leads to the healer's den. The healer's den has a small pond used as a water source. To the right of the healer's den is the elders den. The Den Mother and watchers are little bit away from the trainees den. Alphas, Betas and Deltas dens are located above the healer's den. Only way up is a rocky steps that wind their way up. The omegas den is located away from everyone else.
In the event of a emergency, there are a couple of tunnels that lead to old mining shafts that lead out into the forest.
Traditions and Customs:
Full Moon Howl: Every full moon the pack gathers to howl to the full moon. No one is sure who started this tradition, but it's something that has been going on for years. Some believe that howling together keeps the pack strong, others believe it's to honor the Light Soul pack and keep the dark soul pack away. Some use this as a way to express whatever emotions that they needed to let out. It is considered back luck if a wolf decides not to howl during this time.
Blue Moon Celebration: Every two or three years a blue moon will occur which is cause for celebration in the pack. During this time, the pack will host a feast, play games, and celebrate the founding of their pack. Wolves are forbidden from shedding blood during this time. This celebration can take place in camp, but usually happens at the lake.
Graduation: When a trainee is ready to fully join the ranks, they must pass a test best suited for their rank of choice. For a wolf wanting to be a hunter, they must lead a hunting patrol, and either gather a sizeable amount of small prey or take down bigger prey like a deer or elk. For a guardian, they must survive long enough in a fight either against other guardians or a delta. Scouts must go to a certain location and track something down or discover something useful to the pack. Healers will be given a test of herbs and illnesses. Those who fail will be given three chances to succeed. If not, they must remain a trainee for a little while longer. Those who can't pass their tests at all will be given the Denwatcher rank or the omega rank.
A solar Eclipse is considered a omen for terrible things to come. Any wolf born under the black sun is said to be cursed. Legend says that during this time the Dark soul pack members enter their world and look for innocent wolves to snatch their souls away. This is why if a solar eclipse is happening, you are to hide away until it's over.
Antlers and animal bones are used for den decoration, given to the medicine wolf or given as a gift.
Leaving your mark: When a trainee has graduated, they will be taken to a section of the cave which is covered in cave paintings and paw prints. They will dip their paw into some chew up berries and place their place their pawprint with the others.
Ranks:
