warriorcats.com/content/poll/was-riverclan-right-to-try-and-lie-about-mistystar-s-deathThis poll got posted on the official Warrior Cats website a few hours ago and since the topic is interesting while also directly related to the newest book release Sky, I thought sharing it on here for discussion purposes might be fun. Had to change the wording of the third and fourth voting options because of the limited writing space. My vote went to the third option, although I do understand that RiverClan wanted to clear up this matter by themselves and appear strong to the other Clans instead of admitting to a weakness. Feels like it had to do with a mix of pride and their previous isolation approach to situations which might still be a lasting effect from time of Mistystar's leadership. Just a thought. But either why, it's not their fault Tigerstar decided to copy his grandpa and take over. Not blaming them for that.

hiding it was kinda dumb. the books right now r insisting all clans be buddy-buddy with no conflict anymore...so why should they hide the truth? who cares if they look weak. the clans r insisting to be buddy-buddy. they wont attack riverclan for being weak at the moment. i just dont get it. what were they gonna be afraid of?

That’s a rather difficult question honestly. I’m choosing option 3, considering that the recent arcs have heavily emphasized the importance of fostering stronger interrelationships between them. However, I completely understand their skepticism and weariness of informing the other clans as well. Especially considering both Windclan & Shadowclan haven’t made a very good reputation of being very helpful( thanks to Onestar & Tigerheart respectively). And there being some residual tension between Riverclan & Shadowclan I’m sure, from both the Kin and Shadowclan members decimating Riverclan back in AVoS, and their border tensions back in SqH with Tigerheart being rather aggressive towards Skyclan during that debacle, just reinforces that Tigerheart bad reputation of being uncooperative. And what he’s doing now in ASC is certainly not earning him any brownie points.

I chose option 3 because I do believe that assuming everyone acted reasonably, the other Clans could have helped RiverClan with their leadership problem quickly and efficiently. Plus a major theme of the past few arcs have been about working together and setting aside hostility and whatnot so option 3 would be a good option to take. But I also understand why they didn't tell anyone because it's such a unique situation to be in, and they didn't know how the other Clans might react and didn't want to risk anything.

Definitely option 3, even if that's a hot take from what I'm seeing. The other Clans didn't really have any sort of right to know and it's purely RiverClan's business. Look what happened when the other Clans found out. Tigerstar going all dictator on their butts.
