For me it was the lack of casualties from the greencough. ThunderClan in particular needs to be thinned out.

For me it’s the lack of deaths despite having a few really good chances to kill off some characters and also the fact that Shellfurs personality in this book is really different from his personality in Spotfurs Rebellion.
But the second ones just me being petty cause I liked him is Spotfurs Rebellion.

That I don't have my own copy of it yet.
Seriously though, it was previously stated to arrive in the mail on November 11th but has since then been postponed with no specified date at the moment and I'm just a little peeved about that.

A valid in-universe reason is that people (cats, whatever, they're basically humans with fur and four legs) change as they age.

I feel like everyone in this book is a jerk to the point that it feels like an exaggerated hyper-reality, akin to those reality TV shows about awful people like the Jersey Shore, or like watching a political debate with the worst people. I'm not sure if this is a bad thing though, I have to wait for the series to finish before I make my judgement, but it makes everything seem surreal. Every cat is so mean-spirited and nasty to the point that you get an Alice in Wonderland esque effect where it's comedic. The reason I'm on the fence about if this is bad or not is that I think it's intentional, as thus far, the ASC feels like it's a satirical comedy what with the political allusions that are about as subtle as a hammer.
That said, I feel like Sunbeam is the worst affected. She is utterly insufferable whenever she thinks about Lightleap, which would be fine if she was a young warrior, but she's not. I wouldn't have a problem with this, except that unlike when Nightheart acts out, it does negatively affect the characterization of characters around her. In the last book, Sunbeam was our one sane person, the one against whom all of the drama and hysteria could be contrasted. However, now that she's just another part of it, the contrast is lost, and it ends up blending together and becoming less interesting. For instance, Lightleap goes from a fascinating look at how guilt can wreck someone's mental state, into just being another wacky Shadowclan cat now that Sunbeam froths at the mouth whenever they interact.
I think Sunbeam needs to be more stable, because the story needs a straight man for the comedy to work properly.

Your local library or bookstore might have it Considering that I'm German and the book just came out this month in English, I highly doubt that any of the bookstores or libraries here in Germany will have it already if ever. Since they've also stopped getting the newer English Warriors books in recent years anyways for some reason (probably due to low demand).

Sunbeam didn't get all the chapters sigh... /hj
I suppose that ThunderClan was weird in this book. The name things was the reason given as to why a majority of the clan disliked him, and maybe his attitude too, but it can't be the only reason. The cats in ThunderClan are way harsher on him than they've been on other ThC protagonist and I wish it were given more of a reason. Exspecially SF's behavior towards him, I expected there to be a whole scene of her explaining why she treated Nightheart so harshly, but he kinda just runs away.
Also, Owlnose was super annoying for me, he made Frostpaw chapters unbearable for me. Though that's more of a personal thing haha.
Also what others said about the lack of death. I wish more of the cats would've died in this book, most aren't even used and have been in the books for ages. It be sad but it wouldn't be a bad idea to let a few go, especially if they're not going to do anything all arc

The fact that it's called Sky and SkyClan did nothing and played no real role.

Probably ThunderClan randomly acting weird about Nightheart being a descendent from Firestar. Like, why him and not one of the several other far-removed descendants of Firestar? It seemed really forced, and it's hard to believe they would saddle him with that burden just because he originally had the name Flamepaw. It would have made more sense for that to have been a problem with Sparkpelt (because she looks like him, acted kind of like him, and was his grandchild) or for everyone put pressure on Nightheart to fulfill the steps of his father.

The sheer amounts of cartoon-tier bullying that were needed to make Nightheart leave this early work. Thunderclan went from a fairly nice place to live to THE biggest pack of assholes since TPB-era Shadowclan. He gets almost zero respect, is so starved for validation that he starts crushing on the first girl to treat him nicely, and when he lets rip with his decision to leave - pretty much the most blatant distress cry he could have issued - his mom says "how DARE you" and his sister sneers "bet you won't, bitch, you're all talk". He can be a **** himself sometimes, but bro.

Repeat of Darkness Within from TBC, but replace Bristlefrost, Rootspring, and Shadowsight with Sunbeam, Nightheart, and Frostpaw respectively. Most of the book was just Nightheart and Sunbeam flirting with each other while Frostpaw had all of the interesting plot points in her chapters.

OP, these you'll wanna wait to look at until you've finished the book but cx Tiger sh!ttwo... being an entitled helicopter jerk and imposing himself way too aggressively on RiverClan. Even if he means well he went about offering help in all the wrong ways, not to mention letting his stress over recently losing a kit affect things too. Not a healthy way to lead - as if his nepotism isn't making his reign insufferable enough. No wonder RiverClan thinks he's trying to take them out :/ Also, Rowankit... being the one killed off really feels to me like the editors' way of saying they have no regrets ruining Rowanstar just for the sake of putting his "pursuing unhealthy relationship > prioritizing your struggling Clan" son on a frankly undeserved 'heroic' pedestal.

This is the first book I've read without spoilers RIGHT after it came out, so everything was a surprise. Yet it kind of lacked in the 'big surprises' area. Owlnose was a shock, and I was hyped for Frostpaw's choice. And SplashFrost was a nice surprise too, but everything in Sunbeam and Nightheart's chapters was so, so predictable, except for maybe Rowankit.
