The Fog that covers the Stars (Rp in the making!)

Name:The Wistful Opals


Overall Description:
They live in a swamp-like atmosphere with fog covering most of the secrets that are hidden inside. This is a fairly small and new group that is developing slowly, but carried on their own traditions from their former homes and their way of life into the swamps. Certain things needed changing, but it had also developed new things that the cats haven’t explored yet. These cats are quick on their feet and are elevated to climb up trees and rough terrain. Their pelts are wild but sometimes slicked down as there are a variety of different cats that live in this group. They have enhanced hearing and telepathy that the whispers of the unknown have given them in order to adapt to their new home.


Frequent scent:Moss and swamp water

Origin:
A storm had occurred during the fall, the day in which both ruined and brought chaos to everyone in the area. With the roaring thunder and fallen trees, there was difficulty in trying to find a safe spot from all of the destruction. But with the lightning strike that struck into the swamp, it had attracted a few cats who found each other with the help of the lightning. A cat called Cloudy tells the cats about her dreams and how it interpreted them being together at this moment. All of the cats were confused about this and weren't sure to trust an old cat who’s dreams may have been something purely made up. But the fog started up and shifted around where the cats were all standing. The fog started to turn into different figures. Cat-like figures to be exact. All of the cats were clueless and were murmuring what they should do about it.

Mysterious wisps were now in the sight of the cats and made a trail into the intimidating swamp. What were they saying to these clueless cats? With Newtkit and Antnose, Cloudy needed to find a stable place for her grandsons and the other cats to live. So she trudded into the swamp without any hesitation. Evergreen was against doing this as it was risky but Corvidbreeze knew that the old cat had some wisdom and that in her former clan cats had dreams like this before. This was enough to convince the cats to follow Cloudy into the swamp to where they are trying to find out what this might mean. They crossed over from fallen trees and were cautious of some of the flooded areas that could be a danger towards them.

The ripples of the water led the cats to a clearing to where the fog cat figures were sitting in a circle around the middle of the clearing. The following living cats had sat next to these cats as another lightning had struck in the middle and frightened them. This led to the clearing to have a lightning strike symbol water had quickly taken place inside and had a small glow towards it. All of the cats were shocked by this coincidence and noticed that the storm started to clear up. It had become clear that it was destined for these cats to live here and find out the secrets of those fog cats and what could be lurking in the swamp. As the night sky slowly became clear after the big storm, The cats all were satisfied with their unity and decided to work together to find out what was in the swamps that they needed to discover.

For the upcoming weeks, the cats started to build their small structure within the swamp and focused on being able to explore certain parts of their new territory. Though not only the swamp group found this swamp, another group of cats found the swamp as a sanctuary after 2 moons of the group being there. Fieldclan has been traveling for moons to find this place after the storm had destroyed their home. It only takes time before a Corvidbreeze has to face her fears in trying to protect her new home and abandon what had made her leave in the first place…

The Whispers of the unknown:
These spirit’s whereabouts are unknown but it is known that they inhabited the swamp for many seasons. Living cats have the benefit to hear these spirits even when they aren’t in a dream state. When the fog is near, it will also give them an opportunity to hear these spirits. The fog can be also used to outline the figures of spirits as each spirit has their own structure that’s not limited by the fog. Though when communicating in their dreams or with the fireflies, telepathy is normally used and with the usage of facial expressions as well. This makes verbal speaking a forbidden way to talk to the whispers and if done frequently is said to give bad luck to a cat. In order to uplift this, a cat needs to confront the whisper spirits and give them an offering.

The Fog:
The fog is seen as more of a guidance than a danger or disadvantage to the cats. When fog is near, it will also give them an opportunity to hear these spirits. The fog can be also used to outline the spirit cats and follow their guide whenever they are available. It may also help with catching prey or sneaking up on opponents when they are not aware. The spirits of the unknown are connected to the fog and it can be heard by their faint whispers. It is offensive to verbally speak out to the fog spirits and is known to be bad luck if done so. Though for outsiders, the fog can be a trickster and more unbelievable to trust if tempted. They can mimic certain noises or voices that a cat might find to be familiar. Unless the fog sees potential in that cat, their main goal is to drive them away and will try with any method to do so.

Fireflies:
Fireflies are very sacred to this group as it shows their ancestors are still alive and thriving in the afterlife. Physically, they can use them to find the way back to their camps if they are lost and are present in many ceremonies. But spiritually it is known that when a firefly touches a cat’s nose or is in the presence of a cat, they can see the whispers in their true form and can feel a cooling sensation on their bodies. The environmentalists are very keen on trying to make sure that the population for fireflies do not die out and are particular with a watchful eye on them and what the whispers might be thinking.

Ah thank you! I was planning on writing small one-shots to combine certain events and such. I'm probably going to expand the origin as to have some sort of solution between the two groups. Plus I'm not done with info dumping as i have other stuff like roles and traditions to organize and post as well.

Traditions/Safety Requirements (WIP):


Kits who are 4 moons old must learn how to swim as most of the swamp’s area is full of deep water. They swim in the more dense water at 6 moons before being apprenticed. They are also given a fungi lesson from the herbalist to prevent any accidents from happening.

When a cat dies, they will be sent to the mushroom springs where their body would be left in a heap of vines and fungi, this is practiced as to let their spirit go on into the fog. Over time, their body will be covered with fungi and if the cat’s fog spirit is formed, it will determine if they made it into the afterlife.



The moaning lurch:
When mourning, certain cats may let fungi or moss fester in their fur as a sign of silence for their loved ones. Over time it may take over their body as a whole and look a part of the swamp. Because of this, they are usually excused or retired from their rank. This is where they will be taken care of by the Guardians until they have improved from their grieving process. Reformed Nightblights have been seen in having to improve the mood of the cats who are in the moaning lurch and are now always active in interacting with them. (With a Guardian watching nearby)

Feildclan
The Zealous and Picky

Description:
Feildclan left their former home as it was flooded during the storm and found the swamps. They were unaware of the group of cats that currently inhabit the swamp and made a small camp in a ditch near the borders of the swamp. They are still in the process of raising their numbers as they have been witnesses to their clan dying out from an unknown illness. After Reedfur took the place of their former Deputy, Mumblefire, he had vouched that his kin would be able to figure out how to save their clan. But as he went through the unlogical way, the current Deputy position was cursed by the Whispers of the unknown after Reedfur tried to start a battle on the swamp grounds. Any cat that takes deputy position is prone to be weary of any sight storms or possible dangers because of the accident. But it also seems like Reedfur’s children (In Feildclan) might be taken up by this curse as well for the horrible mistake that he had made.

Characteristics:
Feildclan cats are normally skinny and lengthy or stocky and stout. They adapt better to open areas and windy climates. Their personality towards strangers have changed now that they are in a new environment and don’t know much about the place that they live in. They are more defensive over their clan and with their borders. Though as clan mates Feildclan can be seen to be split on if certain cats really believe in the ideals of Starclan. Most cats don’t like to talk about how Starclan didn’t defend the patrol that Reedfur was in and are likely to call the Wistful Opals “Baneful hearts.” Feildclan is positive that the Wistful Opals are hiding something that will allow them to reach their Starclan ancestors and are too blinded by the grief of everything that they had already lost. So instead they want to take whatever might be precious to them that is hidden in the swamps.

Fighting/Defensive tactics:
Cats are known to claw trees that have fungi to unleash the spores of that fungi to distract and put off their opponent. They use the wind to direct the spores in a specific direction and avoid the spores from getting on them.

If a cat still has spores on their paws, they can use this to their advantage when attacking an opponent. They can be given a fungi infection if made contact with a fresh wound or just from the inhalation of the spores.

Fungi infection is known to give opponent's a harsh reaction to their skin and give them blisters. If it’s in the system already then it will cause shortness of breath, a fever, and vomiting. The only way to heal this infection would be with frog mucus and borage leaves.

Small Magic System

Crystal wands:
These wands are given to every cat when they come of age or are trying to become officially a part of the group. On the top of the wooden stick, there is a crystal or opal that is kept tightly wrapped around with vines. They can be decorated to the user’s content but most add ons are small shells, fungi, flowers,or feathers. The crystal is from the Sea’s reflection where kits are transitioning into being apprentices and are taken to the Charmer in order to find the crystal that best fits them. All cats are trained in using their wands in order to protect themselves from any Nightblight if in danger and are advised that every Opal has their wand on them at all times.

The wands have a mutual connection with their user and are like a soul vessel for every cat. This comes with caution as cats will need to develop a bond with their crystals and learn how to handle them. Leaders don’t need to have their soul harnessed from their crystal but instead at their leader ceremony where they exchange words with the 4 Opalites. But they are still given a wand for normal magic properties.

The elements being used with the crystals are:
•Hydrokinesis-Manipulation of water
•Purity-To purify a tainted or evil spirit (This can work with possessions but will take up a lot of stamina)
•Crystallokinesis-Generation of minerals and crystals.
•Atmokinetic Sensing-Can sense future weather patterns
•Charms- Are used to put protection charms on objects specifically.

A cat may have a strength in one suit of element but the majority are taught how to use all of the elements. As long as the Sea’s reflection is spiritually active, the wands will be active as well.
