Sorry for the trivial question, but i got conflicting answers when I searched online. I figured where better to ask than the WC forums?
I was rereading my copy Rising Storm. It's the first Warriors book I ever read, second hand and quite old. I got it as a kid, so this book is easily over 10 years old, almost 20 years old.
But I could have sworn the cover had Fireheart and Cloudpaw, not Fireheart and Sandstorm like my cover has. I know there are two versions of the old covers by Wayne McLoughlin, but I was wondering if anyone here knew which cover was more prevalent or even why there where 2 of the older covers made?
If anyone has any information I'd really appreciate it!

The wiki has the cover featuring Fireheart and Cloudpaw on it shown for Rising Storm: warriors.fandom.com/wiki/Rising_Storm?so=searchI always thought that was the only old cover by Wayne McLoughlin for this book and did not even know there were supposedly two of them with different characters.

It is strange. I believe the HC has always had Fire and Cloud, and the paperback was Fire and Sand. I have both. I donโt know why itโs like this though.

As a kid, I got a paperback set of arc 1 that had Fireheart and Sandstorm on it and figured out later that the hardcover edition had Fireheart and Cloudpaw on it. I think whichever cover was featured in the back of the books when they showed all the books in the series would be considered the "official" version of the old RS cover. I'm pretty sure the Fireheart and Cloudpaw cover was shown there, but I don't have any of the old book prints with me to confirm this.

That explains it!

They changed it because they got feedback that Fireheart and Cloudpaw looked too cute and friendly for the series. Imagine that someone not familiar with the series would pick it up and think โaww, two kittens playing with each other, this must be a cute animal storyโ, meanwhile the book itself has cats burning to death, getting hit by cars, and murdered..
