*SPOILERS FOR THE POWER OF THREE ARC I guess*
I've been rereading the warriors series and enjoying it. It's been almost 10 years since I last read the first three series. Upon rereading I have become confused on when Jaykit, Lionkit, and Hollykit were born (and when Leafpool began expecting kits).
I have just finished Sunset. The New Prophecy arc took place mostly during Leaf Bare. When the clans arrived at the lake it was Leaf Bare (despite no mention of snow). At the end of Twilight and during Sunset it is mentioned that things are starting to grow and New Leaf is just around the corner. It may have already been New Leaf as Two Legs were coming to the lake to go boating, but there was no indication it was definitely Green Leaf.
Now I have always assumed that Leafpool began expecting her kits during those brief days when she ran away with Crowfeather in Twilight. Having just started the Sight, Jaykit mentions that the leaves are frosted and Stormfur says outright that it is Leaf Bare. Sorreltail's kits are already apprentices (and implied to become warriors soon I think) which means at least 6 moons have pasted.
Cats are expecting kittens for about 2 months, or 2 moons. I believe that was about how long it took for Sorreltail to give birth in the New Prophecy arc, so the Erins must know it. In addition (though not evidence), all artistic renditions I've seen of the birth of Jaykit, Lionkit, and Hollykit seem to be in the dead of Leaf Bare. I should mention that I have not yet read Leafpool's Wish.
But anyway, my point is-Sunset ended at the onset of New Leaf. The Sight starts with the kits in Leaf Bare. If cats only expect kittens for 2 moons, then the only plausible explanation is that Leafpool must have sneaked away to meet Crowfeather in Leaf Fall in between Sunset and The Sight. BUT THAT DOESN"T MAKE SENSE EITHER!
So if anyone has anything to offer to help clear up my confusion, it would be much appreciated. Otherwise I could just chalk it up at an editing error.

Sunset tkes place in march or april, the first spring by the lake. At the end of the Sight the clans celebrate their second spring by the lake. Including what you said, lion, jay, and Holly could NEVER have been born in thee winter. But the fact remains that they were in the books. More plot holes from the Erins.

I get confused by the seasons in the books, especially since I sometimes skip around.
I think it was Leaf-bare, because when Jayfeather went back into his memories, he said it was cold. Plus, snow was on the ground.

Plus, snow was on the ground. Yeah, we know, thats the problem. Its impossible for it to have happened that way because of already listed reasons.

well the real reason is that the Erins are inconsistent and likely don't even know the right length of time in the first place
I'm not sure if there's any way to resolve it in-universe, though…it's a mess

In Leafpool's Wish, the three are born in an empty tree hollow. It's not winter; it's a day after a rainstorm but there is no snow or frost. I think the Erins realized the mistake and attempted to change it.
