Literally the only book besides TFA that I like Dovewing in.

I liked it for the most part. I love Dovewing and her character was good in this book, although I kind of didn’t like the Three losing their powers. It was nice to see the immediate aftermath of the Great Battle though.

Love. Honestly was a really coherent and satisfying conclusion to OoTS, and Dovewing was definitely at her best maturity, and character development-wise. If her characterization from Dovewing’s silence would of been preserved through the future books. I’d probably like her and find her shenanigans, hostility and immaturity throughout OoTS more forgivable, and be more agreeable with sweeping them under the rug, or at the very least find her arc enjoyable knowing there’s a polished, satisfying ending to wrap up her character arc, and essentially remain i good background character once out of the spotlight. But sadly all that development and potential got thrown into a bonfire, and for what? Insufferable romance drama and character embellishment(Tigerheart) while butchering others(Bumblestripe, Rowanstar etc.). I’m genuinely baffled, like from a technical writing standpoint. There’s no conceivable reason for Dovewing’s story to be tampered with. It’s satisfactory, and left her on a good note, and even those that found her unbearable in OoTS had positive reactions to her performance in her novella. And from what I’ve seen, is easily her most popular performance in the series among fans in general. Why take a genuinely solid wrap up to her story and regurgitate the incongruous mess of diarrhea, that’s easily one of the most controversial(top 10 at least), disliked, and frankly pointless plot points in the series. Who thought it was genuinely a good idea?. Because it makes no sense to me.

This was the book that made me like Dovewing because it felt like she was finally going to drop all of the tom drama and be by herself. It felt like she decided to start a new leaf but then all of that went down the drain......

I love Dovewing's Silence! One of my top three favorite novellas besides Tigerclaw's Fury and Mothwing's Secret. I'm just sad her characterization went back to being mainly about her romance drama with Tigerheart afterwards.

I dislike Dovewing, but when I liked her character the most, it was definitely in DS. DS is what I wish her plotline, characterization, etc was in the main arc. I liked her characterization, her empathy, and overall character growth in DS, and I really liked that she was no longer with Tigerfart (I really, reallydislike DovexTiger), and I liked how she was able to eventually cope with the loss of her powers, and she seemed to be satisfied with her life in Thunderclan by the end of the novella. If DS's plot and characterization of Dovewing continued into AVOS, I might feel neutral on Dovewing as a character.
I have complicated feelings on Dovewing's Silence, so I will vote neutral. The reason why I feel I cannot vote "like" is because it feels like DS might as well not exist, since later books un-did everything I liked about DS. In Bramblestar's Storm, which takes place after DS, Dovewing can no longer cope with her loss of powers... so what was the point of her accepting the loss of her powers in DS, if that was just going to change immediately? She breaks up with Bumblestripe after they were shown to be stable in DS, but instead of being single or getting together with anyone other than Tigerfart, she gets together and has kits with Tigerfart, and moves to Shadowclan. But in DS, it seemed like she was satisfied with TC life, and without Tigerfart... so what was the point of those things in DS?
As much as I liked DS, part of me actually wishes it didn't exist, as weird as that sounds. Since everything I liked about DS and Dovewing's character in the novella, just got un-done in the main books later anyway, it feels aggravating and a little upsetting to me, when I look back on DS.
I'm almost tempted to vote dislike because of how disappointed I am with DS's themes and writing decesions on Dovewing not being continued in the main series. But since I actually liked Dovewing and her plot in DS and haven't liked her before, or since, then, I'll vote neutral.
