Fiona shrugged, smiling, "Well, I'd rather it not get anyone killed. I'd rather nobody get killed today. And I wasn't exactly asking." She gave a small shrug, rolling the shaft of the spear between her hands. If Lilah really was opposed to the idea, Fiona could easily gather another group, but she'd been hoping to keep an eye out for Lilah today and doing so in front of Cassie certainly wouldn't be a bad idea.
Seven glanced around nervously, then looked at Piper with a small smile, "So... You wanna group with me?" Otherwise, he'd probably end up grouped with his brother and he didn't want that one bt.

[ sorry for the delay, guys. pop in wherever ya want. ive also got Wisteria for another group ]
Piper stood half-turned as the rest of the patrol started grouping up, trying to listen to them and the rustling noises at the same time. Grouping up made sense, that way no one could be picked off if the monster decided to circle around, but he found himself unsure of who to bring along. Pulling his attention away from the trees, he looked over at Seven when he spoke up, a brief look of surprise sneaking it's way onto his face. God he hoped he could keep anyone from getting killed. Cracking a slight grin, he shrugged and gave a nod, gesturing for Seven to stand beside him. "Sure, although we'll probably be tackling this head-on if you're ready for that," he pointed out, scanning the rest of his other classmates. He considered a few of the other more confident and capable people, but figured they wouldn't bother listening to him anyways. Fiona was the one who had most of their loyalty. Squinting, he frowned briefly before turning and heading down the slight slope towards the stream, gesturing with his hand over his shoulder. "Anyone else wants to follow me, go ahead." This was probably a dumb idea. Pushing his way past some trees, he followed them down towards the stream bed, water frozen and currentless. The smell of monster overwhelmed almost everything else, but the least he could determine was that Risher's potential corpse was nowhere nearby. Scrunching up his nose, he observed the long, deep gashes in the surrounding trees. "Keep an eye out," he muttered, toeing some of the rocks with his boot and crouching down to listen. The rustling was there again, louder now, running through his feet. A branch snapped across the bank.
Stile muttered something with attitude back at Lilah, waving a hand dismissively as he tried to pay attention to what was going on. It was entirely likely that their group wouldn't run into anything, or at least not getting hurt, but he turned he brandished a pistol for extra precaution. And naturally, of course, Fiona had to show up and make things impossible to predict. He shot her a bit of a look, a not too friendly one, before exchanging a glance with Lilah and elbowing her lightly in the ribs. Was he really going to third-wheel on a patrol? Boy, his life was at an all-time high. Although he was less than happy about this outcome, he kept his grumblings to himself and only snapped out of it when he heard a bit of a familiar voice. Whipping around maybe a bit too fast, he recognized Cassie's face and relaxed ever so slightly. He never thought he'd be happy to see a Class A kid's face. Laughing a little to himself, rather nervously, he patted her shoulder. "You're my savior. Endure this hell with me," he said dramatically and without much context, waving his pistol around in the general immediate area as if that explained anything.

Luca looked around carefully once again. They were all ready for something to jump out at them, but as time continued and nothing happened they all seemed to get more and more tense. Shaking himself Luca took a moment to gather himself, there was no reason for him to act like this. He was pretty confident in his ability to fight off anything that came his way, and if he couldn't fight it he could guarantee he was faster then most students here.
Asher yawned and continued to look around the area. There were a fair amount of groups, but no one had sounded an alarm yet. The groups had been a good idea on the leaders part. He was grouped with a couple people who looked either equally as bored as he did, or were simply not all that interested in the idea all together.

((hiiiii this looks awesome
Riandylan Johnson; 17; Gender-fluid; Class B Riandylan, or "Ria" or "R" or "Dylan" or "Andy" or other fun nicknames for short, is, in a word, small. Short, chubby, and cheerful, Ree could easily be mistaken for a way younger child. Black curls spring out of her head in a cloud about her face, often held back with a brightly colored headband. She has warm brown skin and large brown eyes, with her lips usually curled into a bright smile under her button nose. / Riandylan is a sweetheart, unable to stand an unhappy face. He will happily help someone out, shrugging off any attempt to pay him back. He loves adventure and learning what new surprises the world has to offer and suffers under the crushing weight of routine and boredom. While he absorbs information like a flower soaking in the light of the sun, connections and patterns are lost on him, with trivia and the more interesting tidbits of info cramming most of his thoughts. Because of this he often seems spontaneous and ditzy or unable to follow a train of thought into the deep end. There's a charm and charisma about him, possibly from his authenticity and love for other people's company. / Riandylan's big fluffy ears and tail mark her quite conspicuously as a mutant, giving her slightly heightened senses of smell and sight, impeccable balance, and the look of an overgrown puppy. Riandylan is also partially deaf, and while he prefers using sign language he will, albeit reluctantly, speak out loud if he has to. Is totally cool with pronouns he/her/them, though will feel one way or the other most days. Ari is their best bud. willowflower
Ari Bhardwaj; 18 ; Male ; Class A He's a lanky dude, all angles hidden underneath sweatshirts and hoodies. Dark curls are permitted to fall long just above his shoulders. His green eyes sharply contrast his deep brown skin, just barely making the top of the list of his most prominent features with his large hooked nose threatening to overthrow them. / He is ridiculously clever, with an intuitive sense that allows him to see patterns and puzzles in the world around him, but he doesn't like to wait for others to catch up and he doesn't suffer fools gladly. Ari has a rather loud personality, wearing his heart right on his sleeve and letting the whole world know the thoughts bouncing off the top of his head. However, he lacks a very necessary filter when talking to others, so he's not the most sensitive of people. He believes full-heartedly in honesty, from carelessly thrown remarks about the state of one's hair or the existence of a hanging booger to the more dangerous acts of insulting the enemy. Despite this, there requires a Friendship Level 16 before unlocking his less-than-happy past, which one could safely assume there must be from his less-than-happy attitude. Ari will happily bite off the head of anyone who dares cross him, and he seems to exist in a perpetual state of grouchiness. He won't trust nor believe your nice, friendly shtick anytime soon and enjoys audibly ruminating about human existence and the ultimate pointlessness of it all. He does appreciate intelligence, sincerity, and those who will admit they've got an ulterior motive. The only one he does have a soft spot for is his friend-pretty-much-sibling Riandylan, who in his eyes is the most precious being in the world. willowflower
*shuffles forward with these two dorks* could i join?))

((^.^ thanks! super excited to be here!))
Ari could almost feel the dark circles under his eyes grow even darker as he stared wearily up at the bay door. "Welp," he said as he looked down at Riandylan, who smiled up at him. "This is it." Ria only grinned in delight and tugged at his sleeve, skipping up to the entrance of their new school. Home. Boot camp. "Ugh," Ari muttered at the thought, letting Ria drag him through the doors. "You know we've gotta split up now, right?" Ria shrugged. "We can still hang out, d-u-m-d-u-m," her hands spun as she turned to face him. "Sure, yeah, uh-huh," Ari said, frowning up at the tall buildings. He felt an insistent tug on his sleeve and looked down at a furrowed brow and a frown that looked utterly out of place. "We can still hang out," Ria repeated the movements, but with an obvious question mark in her eyes. Ari felt his face soften into a small smile, taking a hand out of his pocket to ruffle her hair, the soft fur of her ears tickling his skin. "Well, duh. Like being in a different class is going to keep you out of my hair, huh?" Ria burst into giggles as Ari's affectionate ruffling turned into an affectionate noogie. "Don't worry, Ree. Chances are I'll probably get knocked down to Class B anyway. I'll just 'forget' homework for a few weeks or sass the teachers one too many times and get kicked out ag-" Ria delivered a rather well-placed punch to his arm, her face scrunched up. "Alright, alright!" Ari said with a laugh. "Don't worry, I get your point! It sure hit me rather hard." Ria's face fell into a deadpan as Ari cracked up at his own lame pun. "Sorry, sorry, the opportunity was too perfect," he said unapologetically. Ria observed him with grave disappointment before walking off. "Hey! Oh come on, Ree, it wasn't that bad! Ria!"
Well, that was then. Now? Ari was standing in the cold, hands nestled deep in his pockets, clumped with a bunch of others waddling out past the gates and into supposedly monster-infested woods. Yay. Much fun. He can hardly contain his joy and excitement. Even worse, apparently they have to group up. Talk about awkwardly turning to the nearest person and communicating through shrugs and raised eyebrows. Yet, amazingly, strangely, weirdly, he's been blessed with a sunshine child at his elbow, Riandylan's steady presence allowing him to breathe easy. Riandylan grinned up at him, and Ari marveled at how, despite the dreariness of the morning, it somehow seemed like the sun was threatening to burst from underneath R's skin. "Sup, Ree," he said. "How are you feeling?" "Like a boy," Riandylan signed. "Pair up?" "Sure, whatever." "Find another?" "Ugh, do we have to?" Ria failed to hide a grin and took hold of Ari's arm, as if he'd somehow lose him.
Keeping a firm grip on Mr. Grumpypants, Riandylan searched for the girl he couldn't help but notice shaking visibly, most likely not just from the cold. Sure, no one really looked all too enthusiastic, but she looked like she was on the verge of a panic attack. Though, when Riandylan did catch sight of her, she looked like she had found a group already. Pouting, he did a 180 and dragged Ari the other way. Ignoring Ari's whiny "Reeeeee" he determinedly looked around for those who are staring at the floor or still turning their heads in search of a group, for those who showed signs of fear and the urge to throw up on their faces. "What are you doing?" Ari asked, sounding more dead than anything else. Riandylan threw back a grin, which made Ari's face grow disgruntled. "Dude, why don't we just go with that guy?" He pointed at Piper, who was about to disappear into the trees with Seven in tow. "He seems to know where to go." Riandylan stopped, then raised a deliberate eyebrow, knowing all too well that Ari was not one to trail after a leader who seems quaky in their boots. Ari, knowing that look all too well, rolled his eyes. "Fine, it's- he's... weird," he muttered. "Something's not right. Didn't you notice? Wind's blowing, but not a hair is moving. And why's he got a shadow when there's no sun?" He sounded so frustrated at the discrepancies, Riandylan found himself torn between smiling and sighing. Of course Ari would want to pry apart his newfound puzzle. "He's a mutant like me," Riandylan pointed out. "Oh, of course," Ari scoffed. "Monster blood breaking physics. Why am I surprised? Of course that'd create something just wrong."
Ari knew he said something wrong the moment the word "wrong" left his mouth. Riandylan stilled and the smile faded from his face. His hand slowly slipped from Ari's elbow. "Wait," Ari blurted out. "You must be spending a lot of time with your classmates," Riandylan signed, and then turned to maneuver back into the crowd. Ari smacked himself in the face, cursing under his breath. As he looked up, dragging his hand down his face, he noticed the Class B leader gone and swore some more, making his way through the others after him. He found himself luckily catching sight of the two heading down towards the stream and followed. "Yikes," he said, looking at the deep gashes. The way they're going, they're probably going to be bumping noses with a monster soon. The gun holster resting against his leg suddenly felt heavier. He came up behind the two just as a branch snapped from across the bank. "That's not good," he said without warning.

Seven stuck to Piper's side like glue, making his way down the bank as quietly as possible. As the groups began to spread out a little, the background noise of a dozen marching feet faded. He paused a few feet from where Piper crouched, running a finger over the deep gashes in the wood. Pulling his hand away slightly, he rubbed his fingers together. The sap was still running, leaving sticky traces on his fingertips. The gashes couldn't be all that old. Glancing back over at Piper, he whispered, "Got anything?"
Fiona led her little group off on the other side of the trail to put a little distance between her group and Piper's. The undergrowth wasn't quite as thick here and there were far fewer saplings, which was a small blessing for her at her height. The trees were taller and older. The massive oaks towered above the forest and cloaked it with a thick canopy that left everything underneath dark and still. She made her way over a few boulders that lined this section of the stream bed. As she dropped down, she took a beat to evaluate the immediate area, then turned to look back at the others, "All clear, but watch the ice." It looked like the stream had frozen all the way through, but one couldn't be too careful.

Caspian continued as his group moved away from the others. He could hear something lurking around and lifted up his hand. "There is something here." He said keeping his eyes peeled for anything. The sound seemed to be coming near the trees.

[ bbbruh u flatter me so. but yes welcome B^) ]
Piper frowned to himself, trying to ignore the other students talking around him and about him, waving a hand to get them to keep quiet. He drowned it all out, focusing on the vibrations running up his feet, the sound of more branches snapping. His eyes searched the trees, waiting for it. And then all at once he could smell it, all sulfur and mud and earth, overwhelming him. With only moments to spare, he grabbed Seven's shoulder and pushed him down as he dipped his body towards the ground, shouting out "MOVE" just as a huge messy black shape launched itself across the river, jaws snapping wildly.
