i'm certainly trying to be conscious of everyone's schedules and such!
speaking of which, i wanted to begin planning for the gathering!
you never have to apologize for mental health issues, whispersofthedead , never. it's completely understandable to need time or even breaks, so no need to worry about this rp. at the end of the day, it's just a fun group writing project with a cool community. mental health his more important!

I hope so too! c: My family is taking our trailer out for its maiden voyage so we can get a little practice in before our next big trip. We're not going far from town, but I won't have access to my pc for those few days, so I'll be unable to rp friday and most of saturday.

Also, since so many people have popped up and joined, I'm thinking of extending the first day until the end of the week? Just so that people can finish introducing their characters and we can wrap up some scenes? Then next week we'll begin the three day schedule... ? Does that sound okay or fair to everyone? I know we're dealing with different time-zones all around and I want to make sure I'm being accommodating! c: Fine by me, though after this we should try sticking to it a bit harder maybe, or maybe it would be better to jump ahead a couple days or even a week at a time int he time skips if we extend a day |

Yacinthe I think the idea of week long time skips on a regular basis would actually be really good - it's short enough that conceivably nothing important happened in the time skip (like, it doesn't force a pregnant queen to skip rping the birth of the kits the way it would if we skipped moons at a time), but it also should keep things moving at a fairly rapid pace. It also gives us the freedom to make up things that happened in the timeskip, like making up a story of something you did with another cat you don't normally get to rp with! Which would be great for me haha, it'd give me the opportunity to say that Coldpaw trained with the other apprentices without me being on at the right time to rp that out together, for example.

okay, i'm on and i'm going to attempt to get some replies up but i make no promises. ;-;
it's somehow embarrassing to admit and i dont even know why but i unfortunately face a lot of reoccurring medical issues that give me almost daily trouble and i'm struggling rn. it's very frustrating. anyway, i won't go on about it, just wanted to let you all know what to expect out of rping with me.. ^^'
Yacinthe , Tiri - that's not a bad idea tbh. i planned on throwing in a few bigger time skips throughout the month, just to make moons go by a bit faster, otherwise our characters would never age lol, but every three days skipping a week might be interesting! what does everyone else think about this possibility?

don't worry about it, blu! your health comes first <3 i've rpd with you before so i have some idea of medical issues being an ongoing thing. i'm not one to get impatient about replies to a roleplay. life happens! (that goes for all of the rest of you, too ^^)
i like that idea! timeskipping by a week sounds just about right. we can try it for a bit and see how it works for everyone.

a week every three days might be a bit much; you can always mix it up and do, say, monday and wednesday are new days, and do a week skip on friday so that new scenes and important events can start over the weekend when people are more active? then stragglers can finish up scenes and do the daily stuff on mon/wed, so that it moves along but there's a little more congruency throughout the week, but shaken up on weekends.
it's going to be hard forcing time skips either way, since time zones and poofy people make characters stuck, and even if they aren't, you can't get too far into a good scene within 3 days forum time. Maybe it'll push people to actually try and make scenes happen tho lmao and it does unstick characters from people that are less active. (except owlclan, I love the teams but it might be hard to keep schedules with the same cats in similar groups for outings)
Jay- we're just talking about the logistics of time skips.
And same, I have to zoom in to read a lot of people's replies, or copy and paste them into a google doc. I'm kinda angry that the old forum "sub" text carried over here as the subconscious marker for "advanced" rp, it's like everyone's whispering haha
(and for anyone who does that and wants to look cool without making it hard on eyes, using a nice font and changing the line-height to ~18px will give the same effect without the small text.) This post as example. I'm too lazy to do just chat-reply formatting tho

Thanks for using your post as an example of readable text, Brownie! I too often have to copy and paste replies into a doc to read them or highlight the text if it's all black. I hate to admit it, but I often felt/feel the need to conform to "advanced" standards by making my text small and neat as well. I'm totally gonna steal your idea for text formatting tho c;<
I'm fairly easygoing so whatever you guys decide on for timeskips is probably fine by me! I'll be sure to speak up if I think there's an issue. ^^

np! Hopefully it is readable like that. Should be. I'm quite fond of the font taviraj, but georgia is also a nice (and big!) serifed font. The line-height helps keep it a little further spaced, which harkens back to the old subs and draws back to that vibe without actually changing the font size itself.
And do! It's really easy to slip in there and helps everyone. Make it a trend, haha.

Some shenanigans would be fun! What would you guys think about, on the walk back to camp, being the first characters to deal with predators in the danger-predator-territory. Something manageable, maybe, like a bird of prey, or a weasel, or a half dead badger dragging around a foot in a bear trap? It'd totally validate Ravenswoop's alertness, and Pipitpaw wanting to keep an eye on Shadepelt

I like the idea of scheduling timeskips for fridays (it'd happen midway through a saturday from my timezone's perspective). Having new day saturday - new day monday - new day wednesday - week time skip friday on repeat might work well, the consistent schedule might help keep track of things, or new day saturday, new day tuesday, week time skip on friday, if longer days would be better to allow people to have longer scenes? But also, doing them just once in a while would work too, or not at all. This RP is already so fun, I honestly don't think there's a bad choice.
I also like the idea of being able to say what you think your characters did during the time skip, but I'm not sure if it'd come across as telling other people what their character did? Example:
During the time skip, Cardinalstar decreed that the elders would move out of their den for a week, and into temporary dens in the main cavern, while the apprentices gave the elder's den a dusty deep clean. So far this is now the fourth time that Pipitpaw has had to remind Shadepelt where her bed is.
Would this be too much 'piloting' of Pipitpaw? Or is it an interesting way to develop the line storyline of Shadepelt losing it? Would people not mind everyone else suggesting stories of what vaguely happened during the week? If, in fact, anything happened at all. If it'd work, it'd allow us to advance plot lines over time (not having to play out all the simmering tensions between Owlclan and Swanclan, for example, and instead rping it for a while and then putting a note about it in the time skip news and skipping to when exciting points happen?).

Maybe Shadepelt wanders off in the midst of it and Pipit and Raven are trying to shepherd Shade back to camp while Raven is trying very hard not to lose it for both Shade's and Pipit's sakes? Yeah, that's correct. So it's like a 5-hour difference but... on separate days. Weird. As long as I can remember that you're a day ahead of me I'm probably good xD Eagles can carry off frigging fawns, so any bird of prey smaller than that would have no problem with domestic-sized cats. Even Raven and Shade would be in peril. I'm down for this idea if Yacinthe is! |

Jees, that's a lot. New Zealand lost it's giant eagle a while ago, and I'm not sure our current wildlife roster has anything that capable. Kea kill sheep, that sounds like a similar threat range? But yeah, I have no idea what typical sizes most predators can fight!

please let me know in the future if this continues to be a problem. are my rp posts difficult as well?
okay, it might be because i'm still really groggy from medicine and sleep, but i am really confused on the whole skipping time situation...
at the end of the day, my goal is to keep the rp moving. my fear is getting stuck on a single day and never moving forward. also, a lot of the time rps die out because characters are frozen with someone who's not online. if we can avoid this by skipping every once in a while, that would be ideal. but i still want what's best for the group. so far i'm getting skip a week on weekends and skip a day on Monday and Wednesday?

As for the timeskips, I don’t mind what we do. I do think a week timeskip every 3 days is a little too much though.
