SILENTCLAN || THE GHOSTS OF THE FOREST (OPEN)

R U L E S

1. Please be active. Nothing is more irritating than having someone sign up and then just disappear. Members should post at least once a week.

2. Please be literate. I have dyslexia and struggle reading chatspeak and such.

3. No perfect or unrealistic characters. You don't need to have genetically accurate characters (ex: your cat can be black and cream with gray paws and blue eyes), but characters with impossible colors (green, purple, yellow, etc) will not be accepted. The same applies to eye colors -- no unnatural eye colors. No exceptions. Your character is also not perfect; they will get hurt, they will get sick, they will die, there are things they cannot do, there are things they are terrible at.

4. No mating/birthing scenes. No exceptions. You can have pregnant characters, of course, but please do not have an entire roleplay about a queen giving birth, and please please do not write any mating scenes.

5. No apprentice queens. No exceptions.

7. You cannot sign up as a kitten with no mother. You must have a queen that you will actively play as if you want kitten characters. Signing up as a pregnant queen or a queen with kittens is fine.

8. Absolutely no LGBTphobia. Your character can be gay, trans, bi, a lesbian, whatever.

9. Ask me before you start a major event. If a plot you came up with involves something major, like a lynx getting into the camp or a cat dying, consult me first.

10. Do not ask for high ranks. This includes medicine cat apprentice. I will decide who gets higher positions based on activity.

C A M P

The location of SilentClan's camp is a mystery to anyone who hasn't actually been there. The interior of the camp is a grassy area dotted with many large, hollow rocks and trees that make up different dens. It is surrounded by trees that form a thick canopy, preventing a lot of rain and snow from getting in, as well as keeping birds of prey away. Rose bushes also grow in camp, though no one knows where they came from, because there are no roses anywhere in the territory.

The leaders' dens are two oak trees in the center of camp. These trees are entertwined, making it difficult to tell where one tree ends and the other begins unless its leaves have fallen. Both trees have a hollow base that serve as the living spaces of the leaders, giving them privacy. Clan meetings are held in front of this tree; leaders sit on low-hanging branches.

The medicine den is a small cave at the very back of the camp. It consists of three chambers. One chamber is for housing infectious patients. One chamber is for storing herbs. The last and largest chamber is where the medicine cats sleep.

The warriors' den is the remnants of a cedar tree once struck by lightning. It is completely hollow and open at the top, and it is spacious.

The apprentices' den is an artificial tent-like structure built with large branches and random foliage. Apprentices are free to remodel it as they see fit, as it's considered to be good enrichment and a way to keep them from getting into trouble in camp. Learning how to build and maintain it is a skill passed down from the very first SilentClan cats.

There is no set nursery. Queens build their birthing nests wherever they feel want to. The only place off-limits is the medicine den.

The elders' den is an underground tunnel hidden inside a hollow stone. It is designed to keep elders somewhat active, but it does not require a lot of effort to get in and out. It is warm and dry within.

SilentClan territory is mostly deciduous woodland consisting mostly of oak, maple, and elm trees. A small stream runs through it, separating the forest from the meadow beyond it. The stream leads to a lake in the eastern part of the meadow. There are countless boulders and stones in both the forest and the meadow.

To the west lies the Silent Chamber. The Silent Chamber is a completely dark cave with only one room and zero tunnels. Inside it is a statue of a large cat posed like it is reaching for the stars. The statue is considered sacred, and the Silent Chamber is revered as holy ground. Falling asleep at the paws of the statue results in meeting with a representative of StarClan, usually a randomly picked member. The origins of the statue are completely unknown. Deceased cats are buried around or near the Silent Chamber unless they are considered unworthy of the honor, usually because they committed a terrible crime.

Cats are not the only creatures within the forest or the meadow. The largest predators include bears (black and grizzly), timberwolves, coyotes, and cougars. Bobcats are rare but also found within the forest, and are considered both predator and loner because while they are known sometimes to kill and eat cats, they can be spoken with. Cougars can also communicate, but are difficult to understand.

Smaller predators include red foxes, possums, raccoons, and gray foxes.

Birds of prey in SilentClan territory include red-tailed hawks, bald eagles, great horned owls, barred owls, spotted owls, great gray owls, and barn owls.

SilentClan cats usually eat mice, squirrels, chipmunks, songbirds, lizards, rabbits, and frogs, though larger and braver cats may try to take down some bigger game like turkeys or platypuses. The stream is too small for fish, but contains plenty of frogs and crayfish. Non-meat foods like honeycombs and eggs are also popular with SilentClan cats.

Larkpaw yawned as she got up and walked out of the apprentices den. It was still dark outside and she wondered if the sun was about to rise or if she should head back to sleep. She didn't want to make her mentor have to come and wake her up.

Larkpaw looked over at Snowthorn. "Oh, goodmorning," she said, "What is it we are going to do today?" She was excited to think about what she would learn.

Mistystream stretched her legs as she walked out of the den. Maybe I should try talking to cats today, rather then keeping to myself, like I have been this past moon. Everyone here seems so nice
