... to make an rp, even though Blu knows she likely shouldn't. Still, I had a few ideas, maybe y'all could let me know if any of them sound interesting? sorry for the awful puns/garbage that is the poll answers btw, i have no excuse.
Three Clan Idea
Bird based clans:
- OwlClan, deciduous forest-based clan, they value cleverness, and their warriors work in teams of four. Some OwlClan cats are nocturnal, called moon-seekers, and they patrol and hunt specifically at night.
- SwanClan, stream and field-based clan, they value grace, and all cats are taught to heal basic inflictions. SwanClan believes they are the closest to StarClan and are very arrogant about it.
- CrowClan, coniferous mountain-based clan, they value stealth and have a tradition of giving gifts as tokens of affection. They have the most predators in their territory and take a vow of silence when outside camp for safety reasons.
Two Clan Idea
RoseClan v. ThornClan
Two clans with a feud as old as the clans themselves. The two brothers, Rose and Thorn, had always been competitive and when they decided to split up into two separate groups, the rivalry continued. Just some fun two-clan shenanigans, possibly some drama with a litter of half-clan cats.
One Clan Ideas
BrambleClan - A group settled deep in a deciduous forest. Just your average, everyday clan but they’ve got some issues. The leader is a bit controversial, their lack of care for the code and their ancestors rubs a lot of their clan-mates the wrong way. Their deputy is their best friend, and they have a difficult choice to make. Go against their own morals and beliefs... Or betray one of their closest companions. Deputy will be trying to garner support, potential for a civil war.
ScorchClan - They’ve settled in the middle of the Sonoran Desert. The group has been run out of their former territory and have only been in the desert for almost a year. They’ve set up their borders and camp but still struggle to adjust to the heat, lack of fresh water, and the new dangers of their home. With the second generation being born and more mouths to feed, it’s becoming a bit of a struggle to thrive.
IsleClan - Centered on a large island with a few smaller islands surrounding it. IsleClan is based around Greek mythology - loosely. There is an Oracle rank, where the cats receive visions from StarClan. The clan believes in soulmates which are assigned by the spirits (their verson of the gods), through the Oracle. Each cat has a patron spirit that guides their paws... potentially also gives them a power?
TwilightClan - They're vampires who sparkle in the sunlight. Actually, heavily inspired by Mortal Instruments. The warriors and apprentices all work in pairs, assigned by StarClan. Essentially parabatai but for cats. They live in a city, with a large network of allies (ally cats and kittypets) that keep an eye out for Shades (dark forest cats). TwilightClan hunt down the evil souls. [can you tell i'm running out of ideas? xD]

The cats of CrowClan are usually pretty scrappy and more adept at fighting than the other two clans. The greatest honor amongst the clan is to die in battle... like Vikings.
Amongst all clans, no cat is allowed to have Owl, Crow, and Swan in their name. And the birds are deeply respected within the clans.
Aaaand that's all I've come up with so far. o.o

I feel like the layouts are a little plain but at the same time I enjoy the simplicity.
(yes, i noticed that i forgot the rules and history sections. -.-' part of me just wants to shove them on the joining page to keep the clutter down, but i might try to squeeze them in somewhere...)

✰ God-modding, spotlighting, and power-playing aren't allowed here. This is a clan where everyone is living out their own stories, each character is a main character in their own right. Don't play other people's characters unless given express permission.
✰ You may not join with a motherless kit unless you have asked the mods beforehand and worked out a solution. Also, apprentices may not have mates or kits.
✰ Living in the wild is dangerous. Many cats are killed, succumb to illness/injury, disappear, run away, etc. Please be open to losing your characters. It keeps things new and interesting. Remember all cats die eventually and rarely of old age.

Differences of opinion and morals split them in two at the beginning. Owlfang's group, who valued wisdom and teamwork fought with Swanleaf's group that valued pride and spirituality above all else. Then another group splintered off and headed up into the mountains, led by Crowspark. His group didn't want anything to do with the politics between the other cats and focused more on honor and survival. As the seasons passed, each clan developed its own customs and way of life. Even still, they all still gather together every full moon and follow the same Warrior Code.

Agreed, I personally make history vague if it's an original Clan or just list the legacies of past leaders. It can clutter, though, that's for sure.
This is all purely suggestions, because I also hate clutter and try to condense everything down as much as I can. Links could remain unlisted, and maybe perhaps shown as little icons for the other two Clans. Credit could replace links as a section. Clan relations and relationships could go under one section. If you really want, you can put season and weather under plots.
For OwlClan, I would put teams and training together. SwanClan and CrowClan could have their victors highlighted in both the allegiances and member trackers. You could do something like "a dark ginger tabby with heterochromia eyes; star touched" or "a dark ginger tabby with green eyes; a victor of CrowClan" but it depends on what you want.
Of course! I don't mind helping, I just want to help you get something you really care for and with the least amount of stress. Making three Clans at once while being tied together can be overwhelming.

I was actually debating removing the team/star-touched/victors sections. They seemed a bit extra when I could slip them in elsewhere. I'm thinking that putting their "title" after their description makes a lot of sense and would keep things organized.
Not going to lie, I am a bit intimidated by working on all three, but I enjoy what I've come up with so far. Getting rid of one of them would throw off the balance and I genuinely enjoy aspects of all of them. I love a challenge though.

Yeah, I stopped worrying about detailed history and just made points under past leaders. I think it's a far better approach. Only issue with icons is that you have to come up with a symbol for each Clan. Once you do, it's so much easier. I'm glad that could be helpful! I don't know how many really look at the allegiances but who knows. If it helps at all, working on one then slowly spreading to the others helped me with one three Clan I have in the works. The real challenge is making them unique without one shadowing the others. |

so here's what i've got for OwlClan so far ~
OwlClan resides in a thick, deciduous forest. Full of oak, maple, ash, beech, and walnut trees. The undergrowth grows dense in most areas, unruly and hard to navigate for outsiders. A small pool - that branches off from the thin stream that stands as their border with SwanClan - is where the clan gets most of its fresh drinking water. Their camp is settled just to the left of the center of the territory. This clan's far border is only a day's journey to the two-leg place.
▶ Dark Hollow ; As its name suggests, this is a hollow relatively near camp that's made from stone. The oak and beech trees that grow around it are close together and have woven branches, that let only small patches of sunlight through. The ground is covered in soft dirt and patches of grass, making it an ideal place to train.
▶ Tree Graveyard ; On the southern edge of OwlClan's territory, one of their open borders, is an area that was devastated by two-legs during Mottledstar's reign. All that remains of the forest here is dead, overgrown trees, mossy logs, and insect infested stumps. A good place to catch rodents but also is good shelter for predators.

i love the idea of apprentices daring each other to go inside hollowed logs, eat insects, and making up stories about how haunted the Tree Graveyard is. xD
i have essentially finished OwlClan, I only have the intro left to do, i think?

ABOUT This clan values cleverness and teamwork above all else. OwlClan cats have almost a pack mentality; a lone cat is a dead cat. There is safety in numbers and the clan holds an unspoken rule that it's forbidden to leave camp alone. The clan values brains above brawn, often relying on their quick smarts and strategy in times of trouble.
Clan members are encouraged to speak up and share their thoughts and opinions. While the leader's word is final, OwlClan has always valued the ideas of others and the cats enjoy debating amongst themselves. Large decisions are usually made as a group. Apprentices are taught not only to fight, but methods of battle strategy.
Working in teams allows for a deep sense of loyalty and kinship amongst clan-mates. Teams can end up closer than littermates. OwlClan cats are intimidating in their efficiency and intelligence. They do not fight recklessly and are intimately aware of every flaw and strength their team holds. They use this knowledge to work out plans that let their teammates reach their fullest potential, while supporting their weaknesses.
Appearance wise, OwlClan cats are mostly tabbies of varying shades and the random calico here and there. Their coats are most commonly shades of brown and ginger. The average OwlClan cat is tall with a long tail and powerful hind-legs for both pouncing and climbing. Coats tend to be mid-length and their night vision strong. CUSTOMS ╎Moonkeepers ╎
- This custom began after a series of night ambushes SwanClan tried to pull during the time of Mottledstar. The attacks took out many of OwlClan's warriors, but the real blow came in the loss of elders and apprentices. So, the clan as a group, decided to form a new rank, one that woke at sunset and patrolled while the moon was high. The name originally began as a joke but has stuck over the years.
The leader and deputy watch over apprentice training carefully until the eighth moon. Then, they decide whether an apprentice is strong enough or has the constitution to become a moonkeeper. If so, they will be given a moonkeeper mentor and begin changing their schedule.
This rank is highly regarded by the clan, it's an honor to watch over the rest of the clan as they lie defenseless in their nests.
The moonwatcher is the pseudo leader of the clan at night and makes the decisions that normally would be left to the leader or deputy. Since there are two medicine cats, they switch shifts every season between being up with moonkeepers or during the day.
╎Teams & Paints ╎
- First brought about during Quietstar's reign, while wild dogs ran rampant. A single cat was no match for the much larger creatures, but the clan found that in teams of four, they stood a chance. The whole debacle was quite new and a bit confusing at first, which is why Quietstar and her medicine cats, Cricketspring and Leafheart, began to experiment with mixing herbs and berries into thick, vibrant pastes. They used same colored "paints" to mark all the members of a team, making it easier to identify who belonged with who.
Indigo leaves and elderberries gave a deep blue shade. Blueberries are used for light blue. Pokeweed and blackberries are used for purple. Camelias and roses can be made into pink. Amaranth flowers can be used for red. Marigolds and dandelion petals produce yellow paint. Orange cosmos are used for orange. Meadowsweet and walnut husks are used for black. Sorrel roots make green paint.
Teams are expected to hunt, train, and patrol together. They're responsible for one another and are often tight-knit units. If there is an issue between members of the team it's expected to either work itself out or in serious cases, be brought before the leader. The leader will hear all sides of the story, evaluate how the issue is affecting both cats and clan, and decide from there whether to change up the teams. Sometimes teams will seek out the leader's opinion to end spats or minor feuds.
In the case that a cat mates within the group, the leader will separate them into different teams, if only to make sure that there is balance. If a warrior protected their mate before the rest of their team, it could leave the other two vulnerable. There's no stigma around falling in love between teammates, but it's important that the cats are honest and are split between teams. Siblings are rarely put on the same team, but it does happen.
╎First Day of Every Season ╎- The first official day of every season is a day of bonding for teams. There's a hunting competition, where the team that tracks down the most prey is crowned victor. During Greenleaf they have a challenge of taking out the largest or rarest prey, since food is most abundant during this season. The day is treated as almost a holiday, with lots of storytelling, sharing tongues, and large meals.
TERRITORY OwlClan resides in a thick, deciduous forest. Full of oak, maple, ash, beech, and walnut trees. The undergrowth grows dense in most areas, unruly and hard to navigate for outsiders. A small pool - that branches off from the thin stream that stands as their border with SwanClan - is where the clan gets most of its fresh drinking water. Their camp is settled just to the left of the center of the territory. This clan's far border is only a day's journey to the two-leg place.
╎Dark Hollow╎ As its name suggests, this is a hollow relatively near camp that's made from stone. The oak and beech trees that grow around it are close together and have woven branches, that let only small patches of sunlight through. The ground is covered in soft dirt and patches of grass, making it an ideal place to train.
╎Tree Graveyard╎ On the southern edge of OwlClan's territory, one of their open borders, is an area that was devastated by two-legs during Mottledstar's reign. All that remains of the forest here is dead, overgrown trees, mossy logs, and insect infested stumps. A good place to catch rodents but also offers good shelter for predators.
╎Berry Patch╎ Not only berries are found in this small span of forest, nearer to the clan's border with SwanClan. The trees have greater distance between them, allowing an abundance of sunlight to fall on the forest floor. All kinds of herbs and berries grow plentiful here. The sweet, pleasant scent makes this a prime area for sunbathing and romantic pursuits.
╎Lightning Oak╎ Up into the northern part of the forest, the clan has a tree that has been split and burned by lightning in two places, as though the lightning struck the oak twice - hence it's nickname. Birds are easily caught here, along with smaller rodents. Owls tend to perch in this tree, making it a treasured landmark for the clan. Smaller cats are to be cautious.
╎Shallow Pool ╎ A little pool a few bear-lengths from the camp. The water is relatively clear but since it's not deep, it can be tepid during the warmer moons. The clan's main source of drinking water, along with the thin creek that branches off. The creek bisects the western side of the forest until reaching a wider stream that separates OwlClan from SwanClan.
╎Mossy Stones ╎Just beyond the Berry Patch, is a clearing full of stones that are covered in moss. Catmint grows here in abundance and prey is usually simple to find. Due to the high number of resources and the fact that it sits next to the SwanClan border, it's always been a contended spot between them. Currently it belongs to SwanClan.

What about a shallow brook that trickles to falls in like a foggy plateau? It could be slippery but a lovely view during sunrise or sunset. |

i took your idea and ran with it, Rain! xD
Abandoned Camp - This had been the camp until a horrible flood seasons ago. Odd brook ends in a small waterfall that empties into a shallow pool. The plateau beside it is covered in near constant mist and the ground is slick with moss and condensation. Now this area is used for battle training and swimming is taught in the deeper sections of the pool.
SwanClan is essentially finished now!

i'm just not sure what to do with that section tbh ~

I usually don't write intros, because they tend to be similar to others or spotlightish? If you feel that you must write one, you could focus on the current plot. |

So, I took your advice and decided not to do intros. I feel like most people just skip over them anyway and it's clutter. cx
I never figured out graphics so the clans still look a bit... plain but that's okay (hopefully) ~
But at this point in time, the layouts are all complete! ^^
It's the struggle to make characters now and go through finishing touches... o.O
Someone pls tell me why making characters is suddenly so hard? -.-
