Our school was broken into yesterday.
So, for new safety measures, probably given all the school shootings in the U.S. recently, our district has placed these massive chain link fences around all of our breezeways and outside doors, right?
But some wackjob climbs up on the roof and busts in through the ceiling of the Language Arts classroom, steals something, and walks out Now there's literally a giant hole in the ceiling. The funniest part is, school hasn't even started yet And that classroom? The teacher is probably one of the most hated teachers in this school. So why would anyone break into a school in summer? Seriously, what is there to steal?
Anyway, that's the story of why there were cops walking all over the roof of the school today.
So how has your day been?

This is the time that teachers are going back to redecorate their rooms and get ready for school. There aren't many people around, so it was opportune.
My day has been quite relaxed. I worked this morning. Came home and curled up to the rain. Now I may go back to work depending on if people want to come out like the sun did after the rain.

That's probably what it was. Still, I can't fathom what they could've possibly wanted to steal. Our district is terrible and not exactly rich.
Sounds like a pretty easygoing day! I've been extremely busy lately, unfortunately for me And we haven't had rain in weeks. I miss curling up on rainy days.

@ sphagnosidum ;; The usual ceiling material, I'm pretty sure. The roof, with wood and plaster, then some attic space in between, support beams and insulation/stuffing and acoustic panels. The building is decades old, so the roof might have already been in disrepair for all I know

Still. That's dedication.

Truly. The funniest part for me was the fact that they recently installed those 6 foot tall chain link fences for security reasons and then somebody drops in through the ceiling (and they probably climbed up there via the fence)
you tried, school disctrict

Maybe said teacher bought stuff with her own money? I know teachers who would do that because the district wouldn't give them what they needed.
Well, I was up at 4:30 in the morning for work. And I've been extremely busy as well. Today's the first day I've really done absolutely nothing. Aha. It was a good taste of our fall weather and I cannot wait for it to be here for the season.

@ golden ;; Many of our teachers do. She's one of the more sensitive ones, too. I genuinely feel bad for her. Hopefully nothing super expensive was taken, because she likely did pay for most of her supplies out of pocket.
I got up at 6:50 this morning and I will not lie, that's the earliest I've woken up all summer. Although it hasn't been raining here, we've been getting a nice dose of fall weather. It's like someone flipped a switch. There isn't really a way to describe it, but you can definitely tell. It just feels like fall. It's pleasant c:
@ bronze ;; when I first heard the news I initially pictured somebody dropping in stealthily, James Bond-style The ceiling's fairly high so they would've had a decent drop, too

Well, hopefully it turns out okay! It would be awful to start the school year like that! :c
I've been getting up at 4:30 for three weeks now. Today was the last day, thank goodness, but I don't ever sleep in, so I've been up and about by at least 7, even when I don't have to be. I'm told I don't know how to "summer correctly"
Oh, I get that! We've had that feeling of fall for a while now. It definitely is like someone just flipped a switch because we went from an exhausting 90 degrees to a comfortable 63 and drizzly. How lovely
