Honestly I really like her as a deputy, if you put aside how the fandom treats other people who like or dislike Squirrelflight. She makes sure she gets duties done and she's good at calming the clan down. I kind of feel bad for all the hate she gets because she works really hard as a deputy and I admire her for that.

no, she puts her emotions in front of what's best for the clan as a whole.

I thought she was a decent enough deputy throughout BrS and parts of AVoS. But in SqH, TBC and now River? No. She’s become progressively more cringe as deputy with how she blatantly walks all over everyone else’s opinions and just undermines her leader without qualms. It’s annoying to me that the main reason so many like her is because she’s a complex and flawed character, yet everytime someone points out her flaws and bad decisions and mistakes, they immediately get meet with a tirade of justifications defending them and treating them as right. So people like her because she’s flawed and realistic, yet refuse to acknowledge her flaws? Pretty damn confusing to me just saying. And the phrases “Good intentions” and “misguided actions” etc have lost all meaning when pertaining to her. I mean how many times can someone get away with making the exact same blunders repeatedly without being held accountable? Without someone claiming she has good intentions? Or was misguided? or is only doing what she thinks is right? Honestly those statements carry such little genuine weight to them as there relative to ones definition of morality. I mean to a serial killer, murdering someone is completely acceptable and morally justified in their eyes, but most certainly not to everyone else. And her character development has grown stagnant due to her lack of maturity or any noticeable character growth over the years. I don’t expect her to have ax complete personality overhaul, but would certainly like to see her become less impulsive, more calculated during serious business and more prone to listen to others, become more humble and less intransigent in her mindset, and less argumentative and more willing to cooperate. To show that she’s actually learned from her previous mistakes and shortcomings, and at least tried to polish some of her flaws out to where there less prevalent and not as problematic all the time. But that’s never going to happen, because they need her to remain immature for cheap drama purposes.
And her recent performance in River was downright appalling not just as a deputy, but as a Grandmother. She’s such a self-righteous and conceited jerk it’s nauseating. And I’m sick and tired of people justifying her asinine behavior. There’s nothing wrong with characters having flaws and liking them for it. But disregarding and condoning their reprehensible behavior isn’t.

No. She's not lol. The only time she was decent was in BrS, but she gets especially worse in half of AVoS, SqH, TBC, and has learned nothing from her mistakes if River is anything to go by. Her behavior in the newest book is cringeworthy and makes me grimace. He behavior in the last arc especially shows how she's too selfish for her position as deputy and not suitable for leadership. She was willing to put her wants above the needs of her clan, even if that meant going against a leader vote and trying to free a tyrannical murderer just to save her mate's rotting corpse. When ironically before that, in SqH, she was lying to his face, going behind his back, and pressing for kits at the most ridiculous time. Her priorities are just never in the right place, and her "its my way or the high way attitude" is tiring. She even drags her own daughter into her foolery, getting her to lie for her, which is just...ugh. And in the new book, I honestly can't stand her. She sways Lilyheart to fail Flamepaw a second time. She argues with Bramble even though she knows hes not feeling well. Goes behind his back, again, to start unnecessary beef with WindClan. Which later gets Bramblestar mocked at the gathering, much to his confusion, it was embarrassing. And then the absolute gross anger she had towards Nightheart for rejecting the name "Flameheart" was appalling. She was behaving less like a deputy and more like an angry brat trying to throw her weight around. She keeps more unlikeable every series.

Yeah, I think she's been good. Like you said before she gets task done but also I also like how she isn't afraid to stand up for what she believes.

For the most part, yes. She's good at most parts, such as calming the Clan down, being strict yet kind, doing patrols and hunting, etc. She's only bad when emotion comes into play. Which is not a good quality for a deputy, but that aside, I think she's decent.

She's a decent deputy. Maybe she dosen't act like a saint and her emotions get in the way of her role sometimes, but she isin't so terrible that she's supposed to be demoted.
I'm also choosing to not include her actions in the newest book, since i don't consider them to be in-character.

I think Squirrelflight was a good deputy in BrS and AVoS. But just like her mate Bramblestar (who also was a decent deputy after the foxtrap situation), these days I'm more inclined to call her performance at the job mediocre at best. My hopes for new leadership in both of the roles currently still filled by BrambleSquirrel are very high these days for this exact reason. They had their chance and now should both either retire or perish sooner rather than later.
