RULES
1) Follow the rules. Each rule is color coded to reflect how severe the consequences will be if you break them.
Purple tier = No warnings will be made, nor will you be suspended or deleted if you break these rules. You will only be given friendly reminders and encouragement to try to do better.
Orange tier = Breaking a rule in this tier the first time will result in your account username being tagged followed by a reminder to revisit the particular rule you abused. Breaking a rule in this tier a second time will result in a written warning. Do it a third time, and you will receive a suspension of one week. The fourth time will be the final straw, and you'll be banned from further participation.
For every 6 months that passes since your most recent violation, you'll be given one extra "life" basically. It would be harsh to suspend you if your second "incident" occurred half a year ago or more.
Red tier = Breaking a rule in this tier will result in automatic deletion, no questions asked.
2) Listen to the mods. Mods will be assigned to monitor the Clan pages to ensure this remains a safe and sanguine place to be. If you see anyone plainly breaking the rules (at orange or red tier), don't engage with them. Report any inappropriate behavior immediately by tagging either myself or anividche. If someone has already reported the incident, don't submit your own report, but instead simply like the original post. We want these issues to be over with as quickly as possible!
3) Respect. Treat everyone here how you want to be treated. Please be respectful and considerate of other peoples' feelings; remember that they are living people on the opposite end of the screen too. Any homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, xenophobia, sexism, racism, etc. will be dealt with harshly and immediately; termination is guaranteed.
If you have a personal problem with someone, please take it to a DM.
Note: If you post a word that is a slur, but one that isn't clearly evident or well known to be as such, you will not be punished if you apologize for it and agree to never use it here again.
4) LGBTQ+. LGBTQ+ characters are allowed with full acceptance. If you have a problem with this, then this roleplay isn't for you.
In addition, anti-LGBTQ characters are strictly prohibited.
5) Follow the forum rules. This is a PG-13 roleplay. Let's try to keep it at that. No forced mating, only go very briefly into romantic innuendo, etc. Kits can be killed, but only "off screen".
Violence wise, do you remember the scene from The Prophecies Begin where Scourge sliced open Tigerstar? Nothing may go beyond the description level that was presented in that particular page. In addition, scenes like that are to be used very seldom; try to keep it more tame, but at the same time, this is Warriors after all.
6) Invite only & joining. As you may have noticed, this RP is invite only. This acts as a soft filter system for people joining who would only post one-liners or who would leave shortly after joining, so forth. This is not an attempt at gatekeeping; we simply want people to join who we think would add to the experience, not subtract from it.
If you wish to join the roleplay, explore the Joining Page (link is provided below in the Directory bubble) for further details!
7) Age. The minimum required age to roleplay here is 18. If you join and you are later revealed to be a minor, that will result in automatic deletion.
8) Activity. It is encouraged that you make at least one post a week for every character that you roleplay. We all have lives outside the forums or life can get in the way, we perfectly understand! But if you've been posting on other threads and neglecting this one, or if you have simply gone AWOL, fair actions will be taken. Read further below for details.
If you don't respond within 8 days, you may wake up to a DM. You won't be in trouble, don't worry! I'll simply be checking up on you to see how you are doing.
If you don't respond within 2 weeks, then a more direct DM will be sent to you, giving you a friendly reminder that your characters are gathering dust and should probably see some activity relatively shortly. You'll also be temporarily placed in the Inactive Members list on the Joining Page. Meanwhile, if your character's current involvement in the story is important, they may be temporarily roleplayed by someone else if you do not respond. Rest assured, strict stipulations will be put in place and they will return to you in the form you left them in. No deaths, no disease, no injuries, no fuss, no muss. If they're not as important to the plot at the time, they will only be mentioned by name and nothing more while you are away.
If you don't respond within a month, then your characters will be killed off.
If you wish to take a break that is beyond a week's length, notifying us would be greatly appreciated. If you feel like you won't be back for an extended period, the option will be presented to you for your character(s) to be temporarily used by others until your return, to be permanently adopted by someone else within the roleplay, or to be killed off.
TL;DR: Please post once per week as a bare minimum. This means the POV from ALL of your characters. Kits are excluded from this since a lot of the time, being honest here, they aren't all that interesting to roleplay as. If you need time off that extends this timeframe, please notify us. Going radio silent for a long period will result in necessary action being taken in regards to your characters in order to keep the roleplay flowing.
9) Literacy. You must be literate. Good grammar, proper punctuation, and spelling are all expected. This means full sentences that are coherent and easy to understand.
10) Post length. It is expected for each user to achieve a minimum of 6-8 full lines per post when roleplaying. In order to allow for everyone to enjoy this roleplay, it is requested that you include in-depth details of your character's actions, environment, thoughts and feelings. Please include a sentence of dialogue, internal or external, whenever possible. Posts that simply state actions without any other context can cause your fellow RPers to have a difficult time with responses.
11) No spamming. Any trolling, flaming or spamming on this thread will be deleted. If you see someone trolling or spamming, report it immediately.
12) Casual chatter. Casual chat posts are certainly allowed, unless they turn into a full-blown conversation that spans entire pages. Before it gets to that point, perhaps it would be best to take the discussion elsewhere?
13) Godmodding. Don't create any Mary/Gary Sues. Interesting characters have their own flaws they have to overcome or deal with, otherwise others cannot relate to them. Try to sprinkle in some less conventionally attractive traits here and there to keep them believable.
You cannot say automatically start off your character as being the "best fighter" or the "best hunter" in the Clan; this will only be permitted after they have earned that title. Even then, have them fail sometimes!
Don't control scenes and other people's characters. If a fox ambushes a patrol, don't have your character fight them off within a single post. If there are other people and characters present, let them take charge of their own character's actions instead of doing it for them.
Know as much as your characters do. If two cats whisper to each other, don't have your character hear their conversation unless it's pre-mediated by all parties involved. Also, don't have your character have knowledge about another Clan's internal affairs unless they were spying or if it's public news.
14) Kit stealing. All attempts at kit stealing will be ignored. Continuing to spam this will result in your termination.
15) Kit-killing. In regards to depicting the illness, injury, or death of a kit, keep it within PG13 rules. Never depict a kit's internal fear or pain/discomfort; you may acknowledge the latter in a limited sense in the third person or from another character's perspective. Don't go overboard with graphic detail; try to focus on the emotional storytelling. Some examples are provided below.
Illness: If your kit character has contracted a deadly, if not fatal, disease or illness, do not roleplay them in the first person describing their fear or pain/discomfort. If they have caught a minor sickness such as the common cold, you will not be as heavily restricted in regards to acknowledging it in the first person.
Injury: If your kit character is injured, do not describe how much blood there is or how much pain they are feeling. We do not want a gore fest. If they receive a minor injury such as a thorn in a paw, you are given a bit more freedom in terms of describing their discomfort, but if they receive a major injury such as a broken jaw, try to describe their emotional/internal thought process above all else.
Death: You are allowed to describe a perilous situation that may or will certainly lead to a kit's death, such as them being snatched up by a fox or clinging onto a branch that is floating down a river. However, do not describe the fear they are experiencing in the moment; roleplay the scene in the third person. If they start drowning, for instance, do not include that detail.
Note: We do not want another Snowkit incident occurring. If a predator is going to take a kit, we will roleplay through the scenes of the creature invading the camp, the moments of panic afterwards, followed by an adult cat(s) noticing the predator carrying "something in its jaws" before its departure, and afterwards the Clan can notice the kit's absence.
TL;DR: Do not describe any scenes in heavy detail regarding a kit's pain or fear in a life threatening situation. Don't go too far into detail over a cat's injury.
16) Mental Health. There are no restrictions in regards to the selection of mental health issues a character can have. To avoid poor representation, we strongly request however that you thoroughly understand the condition in question before bestowing it upon a character. Do not romanticize or dramatize the condition in any way, shape, or form. Intricately integrate into their persona; make it meaningful, while also not making it their entire character. Never excuse bad behavior for the character's mental health issues. If you poorly represent a certain condition, you will receive a warning via a DM, and an attempt to educate you on the matter will be made.
Examples: We do not want a Palebird, Shrewtooth, or Bluestar 2.0 as these were highly offensive examples of the representation of characters with mental health issues.
If you have any questions, DM Dark Sun or anividche for further instructions.
17) Canon lore. For all intents and purposes, the canon books are not a part of this universe. Don't expect to find any of the canon Clans or characters over the next ridge of mountains.
18) The passage of RP time. In order for a day to be completed, at least one mentor must have finished a training session with their student, one hunting and border patrol must have been completed, and most characters must have interacted with at least three of their Clanmates.
Remember to periodically check the Planning Page to update yourself on current events, such as current and future plots, daily weather, etc. This information will always be provided one week in advance.
Time skips are not permitted unless the people roleplaying in both Clans agree to it. Time skips can only span a maximum 1 moon/phase, and will be very seldom used.
If one Clan is a day or two behind the other, a time skip may take place in order for them to catch up if it is needed.
19) Studying. Be sure to read all of the information presented in the bubbles below so you have a clear idea of what WispClan is about. Have fun roleplaying!
