Welcome.
You knew something was off, but not to this degree.
Things were supposed to be pretty straightforward -- You go to school, get your mage license, the whole normal thing. However, apparently fate had other plans for you, and now you stood before the priestesses of the empire, hearing things that wouldn't sound out of place in a fairy tale.
Or a horror story.
Demons on the move in uncharacteristic ways, general unrest between the people, and defenseless demigods.
Normally, one wouldn't think of the demigods, literally the closest beings to the three brothers that there are, being "defenseless", but apparently against demons, it's a bit trickier. The gods have summoned you, or maybe someone you know, to seek out a specific demigod as their guardian, their patron, and things have gone so far out of order that it's actually a matter of importance.
Good luck, you'll need it.
Rules.
- Character Limit: There's a limit of three patron characters apiece, and six characters total. This is so that everyone has a fair shot at roles, so please keep this in mind!
- RP Ability: We aren't expecting perfection, but please do your best regarding the quality of posts! Try to give the person you're rp-ing with something to work with in their reply, please!
- Be Mindful of the Lore: This is an rp that we've put a lot of background lore into, and we feel like the worldbuilding adds a little something special to the rp. We've worked hard on it, and we'd appreciate it if you took the time to look over it, and make sure that your characters fit into the world we created. If you have any questions or ideas you want to bounce around, we're always here to answer them and listen. Thank you!
- Activity: Listen, we're not going to come kicking down your door to get you to reply. Lives are busy, people have school, work, families, all that. Just try to check in with us when you can.
- Behavior: I doubt we need to go in depth here, but just covering our bases. There's a zero tolerance policy here on harassing another rper or breaking the site rules. If you need a refresher on the latter, you can find them here (insert link).
- Character Roles: as you may have noticed, the patron spots have been filled up rather quickly, because of this, for anyone that wishes to join, please work with us so we can make sure your characters have an important role to play as well! We want everyone to feel included and even if a patron spot isn’t open, there’s so much more we can do to include everyone! Joining Form.
Before joining, please make sure you have read everything on this page, because this roleplay is extremely lore heavy, and as such, we want characters to match! A couple things you may notice are magic circles, mediums, and specialties, for more information on those, please refer to our section on magic.
Additionally, we ask you to consider your kingdom and demigod appropriately with their name. Finally, a fun thing about the last names in this roleplay is that they’re not quite usual last names. Names like “Wonderwhirl” instead of “Brown”, this is very intentional as the last name structure in this world is different. When two people get married, they combine their last names (for instance, someone with the last name Jollybreaker might marry someone with the last name Fernbristle, and they’d combine their name upon marriage as Jollyfern, or Bristlebreaker, etc), please keep that in mind when creating your character’s last name, and try not to replicate names already in existence!
Additionally, there are certain last names that cannot be repeated, as they belong to the royal families and prophets. These names are: Crownspell, Winter, Fang, Moon, Jewel, Serpent, Sun, and Earth.
Name | Age | Gender | Kingdom (City) Circle - specialties (3) | mediums (2) Familiar (demon & familiar names) [gender/level] - an additional spot for an (optional) description of your characters, allowing you to go as in detail as you want, including family if you have the desire to make them as npcs.Demigod | @.screenname
An example of a filled out form might look like:
Annette Cinnamoncrisp | 21 | Female | Gesmain (Vinfort)
Earth Circle - plants, enchantments, & air | lyrical (mezzo) & craftsmanship (candle making) Thizziun “Bertie” [male/level 93] - a small girl with wispy golden hair and pale skin covered in freckles, she grew up working at her family’s vineyard, brewing wine that gets shipped all across Gesmain. She’s a shy girl with a deep love of plants and an even deeper love of alcohol, so she can bury her struggles in wine.

Magic.
Magic comes from the three gods who reign over the world. Rath’shak (god of the earth), Mon’shak (god of the moon), and Sol’shak (god of the sun), three brothers who created humans, demons, demigods, and magic in general. Not much is known about the brotherhood, however each kingdom typically has their own thoughts on them.
Magic is a gift from the gods, given to kings and heroes of legend for their great deeds, though nowadays, people are born with magic, as no one has been granted magic from the gods in centuries. Though it’s usually the nobility who has been blessed with magic, there have been a growing number of cases of peasants being born with magic as well. Children are commonly tested for magic by the time they’re 10, so that they may begin their training in one of the Mageling training schools right away, however they usually show signs of magic much sooner than that, and while this test used to be exclusive for nobility, they have recently begun to allow peasant children to take the test as well. Mages are highly respected in Tai’Shakore, while the Arcani (those born without magic) are seen as a lower class. Arcani still make up a majority of peasants, which has allowed the class separation to grow, however with an increase in magic in peasant children, the power shift is slowly beginning to change. Now, most mages are allowed to specialize in three of the types of magic within their circle,, and the prophet is, of course, supposed to master all types of magic within their circle.
Earth Circle.
Earth Magic primarily focuses on manipulating the world around them for the mage’s benefit. Whether that be in the metals and minerals of the earth or enhancing something present like weapons or even yourself. It’s seen as the most offensive type of magic, and is predictively, led by Rath’shak. Favored in Ageleand and Uthela, Rath’shak and earth magic is viewed pleasantly in most kingdoms, excluding Jespuijan, who view the whole circle as unfavorable and even worse than the magic-less arcani.
- Mineral Manipulation (the ability to control minerals) - Metal Manipulation (the ability to control metals) - Plant Manipulation (the ability to control plants) - Air Manipulation (the ability to control air) - Fire Manipulation (the ability to control fire) - Golem Creation (the ability to create golems from metal/wood) - Enchantment (the ability to enchant weapons or other objects) - Enhanced Senses (the ability to enhance your own senses) - Enhanced Strength (the ability to increase your natural strength) - Shields (the ability to create forcefield shields)
Forbidden Magic Blood Magic (the ability to use either your blood or the blood of someone else to increase your own magical abilities to an extremely powerful level, this magic is forbidden and using it will result in you becoming a heretic)
Vampires are a type of heretic specifically connected to Rath’shak, they are earth mages who have used blood magic (the act of using blood to enhance your powers) and gone against Rath’shak’s wishes. As punishment, Rath’shak took away their connection to the earthly realm and dubbed them creatures of Feurine. Vampires are extremely powerful creatures, however they have to rely on the blood of others for their power, otherwise they have none. They cannot use their own blood anymore, for Rath’shak poisoned it and took it from them, so vampires must seek out the blood of others and drink it in order for their power to grow. They begin to crave it and feel antsy without it for too long, and it is said that, in their wickedness, two large fangs sprouted from their mouths in order to make it easier for them to sink their teeth into someone and drain them of their blood.
Moon Circle.
Moon Magic focuses primarily on the mind, which often means to become a moon mage, you must have a strong mind to begin with. Moon Magic, is of course, the magic of Mon’shak, and as such, the views on it depend entirely on the kingdom. Favored in Gesmain and Estania, it’s decently well liked in the other kingdoms as well, excluding Neflein, who view moon magic as tricky and sneaky, and is therefore looked down upon in Neflein.
- Illusions (the ability to create illusions of things) - Hypnosis (the ability to put someone in a temporary trance) - Charmspeak (the ability to control emotions through your voice) - Telepathy (the ability to read someone’s mind) - Telekinesis (the ability to move things with your mind) - Divination (the ability to use runes to predict the future) - Empathy (the ability to feel someone else’s emotions) - Shadows (the ability to control shadows/make things dark) - Camouflage (the ability to blend in with your surroundings) - Dream Walking (the ability to walk through someone’s dreams)
Forbidden Magic Mind Control (the ability to take complete control of someone else’s mind, control their actions against their will, and see through their eyes, this magic is forbidden and using it will result in you becoming a heretic)
Werewolves are heretics, they’re moon mages who used the forbidden magic of mind control, and as punishment, Mon’shak cursed them to lose control of their own minds, so long as the moon’s watchful eye is upon them. (The half moon through the full moon and then back to the half moon), with them losing the most control during the full moon. However, for the other half of the month (half moon to new moon and then back to half moon again), werewolves are still free to go about, controlling minds that don’t belong to them, as their powers grow stronger the closer to the new moon they get.
Sun Circle.
Sun Magic is primarily physical, as it focuses almost entirely on the body. It’s the magic of healing and the magic of Sol’shak, and therefore, strongly favored in Neflein and Jespuijan, and while none of the other kingdoms are actively against sun magic, it’s seen as a bit unneeded in Gesmain and Ageleand.
- Healing Injuries (the ability to heal almost all injuries) - Disease Control (the ability to create and cure diseases) - Temperature Control (the ability to control body temperatures) - Heart Speed (the ability to control the speed of hearts) - Alterations (the ability to make small alterations to physical appearances) - Healing Vision (the ability to see physical problems underneath the surface) - Numbing Power (the ability to make someone numb and unable to feel pain) - Sleep Spells (the ability to put someone to sleep instantly) - Poison Transfering (the ability to transfer poison from one body to another) - Energy Trading (the ability to give someone your energy, or take someone else’s)
Forbidden Magic Necromancy (the ability to complete bring someone back from the dead without any side effects on their side of things, no scars, no complications, using this magic is forbidden and will result in the user becoming a heretic)
Liches are heretics of the sun circle, they used the forbidden sun magic of necromancy, bringing those lost to death back to life, which is taken as a horrible deed in every kingdom, for their own reasons behind it. As for those who actually performed necromancy, as punishment they become liches, almost immortal creatures who can’t really die through normal means, they can only die by being lit on fire and burned to ashes so that there is nothing left of them that remains, they also lose their connection to sun magic and can heal no one but themselves from there on out.
Mediums.
These are how mages utilize their magic, allowing the magic within them to manifest through sound, writing, or movement. Most mages will choose two mediums (such as instrumental & archery) for their magic.
Sound Based Magic - Lyrical (singing, opera, etc) - Instrumental (piano, violin, etc) - Dictation (commands, riddles, etc) - Nonverbal Sounds (claps, hums, etc) - Animal Mimicry (bird calls, purrs, etc)
Written Based Magic - Glyphs (runes, pictographs, etc) - Drawing (sketching, painting, etc) - Linguistics (writing, languages, etc) - Mathematics (arithmetics, algebra, etc) - Composing (poetry, song lyrics, etc)
Movement Based Magic
- Martial Arts (hand to hand combat, etc) - Swordplay (swords, axes, etc) - Archery (bows, throwing knives, etc) - Dance (ballet, gymnastics, etc) - Craftsmanship (gardening, baking, etc)
Titles.
Mageling Young mages who can begin their magic training. Children will take a test when they reach 10 years of age to determine whether or not they have magic, even though usually magic surfaces well before that, 10 is just the official age for the test, and if they do have magic, they are referred to as a “mageling” until they’re older. Children ages 10-15 have something known as a “Child’s Permit”, which allows them to begin learning magic specifically in Mageling Academies, and then when they reach 15, they can apply for a “Trainer’s Permit” which will allow them to start to practice magic outside of school, so long as they have an adult present, and then finally, at ages 19-20, they receive their “Advanced Permit.” Which allows them to practice magic freely, with or without an adult present, while they finish their studies to become a mage.
Mage Mages are what magic-born humans are called once they have graduated from a mage college and officially earned their “Magic License,” which allows them to use magic freely and pursue a magic-based career.
Magician Magicians, (also called Wild Mages, or Tricksters) are magic-born people who never went to school to receive their license, they’re typically not bound to specific mediums like mages are, and sometimes might not even take a familiar
Arcanix Arcani, also known as Nomagi (derogatory), are people born without magic. Usually peasants, they don’t get the chance to attend the magic schools like mages do, and usually end up with low paying jobs as it’s almost unheard of for an arcanix to be a nobleman. Treatment of arcani differs based on kingdom and class, with some kingdoms treating their arcani better than others.
Creatures.
Demons Demons were on this planet long before humans. They were creations of the gods, given life to wander the planet as their own. However, the days came where they started to doubt the gods, scorn them, fight against them, all together turn against them. In the betrayal, they became corrupted. Turned to sludge and shadows and grotesque versions of their previous selves in a variety of forms. Unable to be killed by natural means, they still wander the planet, either choosing to hide from or terrorize the humans that now occupy it.
Levels Demons will often be given a number to serve as a marker for age and power on a scale of 1-100. These are known as levels and the higher the level, the older and more powerful a demon is. The lower the level, the younger and weaker a demon is. (It’s typically suggested you roll a d100 dice in order to figure out a demon’s level rather than assign it yourself.)
Familiars Familiars are demons that have been captured and bound to a mage. It’s a skill that had been founded back when the kingdoms were first created, as the first six rulers each found, captured, and bound a demon of their own. It captures the demon and prevents them from using magic on their own. Mages often use familiars as companions or storage for magic to aid them.
Vessels Vessels, meanwhile, are the bodies built to contain a demon’s essence and soul. When one binds a demon, they bind it to a body. They make looking at demons more appealing and can be built with just about anything. Many mages are typically encouraged to have a pre-built vessel, but others simply rely on the elements around them during the capture.
Animals Animals in this world are many and varied. They are combinations of animals that we’d find on earth- like how a Sprabbit is a sparrow/rabbit or a Horsow is a horse/cow. There is a list of animals that you can find here. Multiple animals are mounts for characters to ride, others are merely pets. Many more are wild creatures that one may stumble across.

Tai'Shakore.
A small continent, Tai’Shakore is covered in large white mountains that, legend says, are made out of the bones of colliding titans from well before the time of men. There are a total of 6 kingdoms on Tai’Shakore, with Neflein, Ageleand, and Gesmain making up the northern half of the continent, and Uthela and Jespuijan residing in the south side of the continent, and Estania resting comfortably in the middle of it all. The people of Tai’Shakore, regardless of where they’re from, believe in the brotherhood of the gods, with each kingdom favoring one of the three brothers more than the others.
Modern History In the time the roleplay takes place, it is the year 442, am (am stands for after magic, symbolizing the time humans first gained magic from the gods), and although each kingdom has a rich history, the major points started with the rise of the Estanian empire. Almost a hundred years ago, in the year 367, Neflein attacked Gesmain and Ageleand, promoting a war. Gesmain sought out the help of their long friend and ally, Estania, who in turn, convinced both Uthela and Jespuijan to join the war as well. Naturally, being horribly outnumbered, Neflein lost the war and in the wake of 371, Estania decreed that from then on, Tai’Shakore would be ruled under the control of Estania, creating the empire. Overall, it wasn’t so bad, Estania mostly left the kingdoms to rule on their own, only getting involved in the larger decisions and maintaining the peace between the kingdoms to ensure another war doesn’t happen again. However, still, certain kingdoms grumble over the loss of their freedom, and rumors of war have once again started to spread. Additionally, eighteen years ago, a horrible plague swept across all of Tai’Shakore, wiping out numerous people. It lasted for three years, before finally ending in the year 427, and although the plague was over, it had left many people orphans, widows, or parents without their children. The plague is considered the world’s greatest loss since the war that formed the empire.
Talor Institute of the Arcane While there are many places in Tai’Shakore dedicated towards teaching those with magic and letting those same people earn licenses to practice magic safely, the Talor Institute is the most renowned of them in the continent. Found near the capital of Estania, Talor takes in students from all across the empire. A large portion of these students happen to be from noble backgrounds, though not all are necessarily in high standing like that. The school itself offers a broad range of classes, ranging from general studies of each circle to the specifics and mediums. In order to encourage and foster positive relationships of students from different kingdoms, Talor assigns students to dorm houses with multiple rooms and randomly assigned roommates. There are five possible years for a student to be enrolled in at Talor, though the fifth is optional and dependent on the student’s curiosity to further learn. Entering Talor, a student would be around 19-20 years old.
Estania.
Culturally inspired by Ancient Rome and Greece with influences of Italy and Spain, Estania is not merely a kingdom- it’s an empire. They rule over the other kingdoms with a rather… lax fist, all things considered. They’re largely forests or open plains, covering the largest landmass of Tai’Shakore. While they don’t truly worship one god over another, it’s easier to claim that Mon’shak is their preferred God, if only due to the influence of their close ally Gesmain. They’re the center point of the continent, often acting as the in-between point for many kingdoms.
Estania, and all of Tai’Shakore, is ruled by the Crownspells in the city of Orbnandi. They’re also home to the famous Talor Institute, where those with magic come to learn from all across the empire, all while staying right near the capital.
Current Ruler: Lycus Crownspell
Oraculi the Soothsayer (Patron: Calliope Greatwood) [@.arexasaurus]
Oraculi has the closest resemblance to a panther in body, if the panther had long, drooping fur and a singular eye upon her head. She is quiet, considered shy and gentle when it comes to humankind for she worries about their well-being when they come near. She’s a demigod of Mon’shak, though she wasn’t created or born of him. It was negative thoughts and cruel whispers, secrets that turned men against men that formed her being. She was a force of destruction and misery when she first started in the world, until Mon’shak took pity on her. He planted an orb upon her head that cleared her mind and allowed for solace, however she has never quite gotten rid of the lingering darkness that still makes up her being. It’s said that she’ll tell you a secret in return for a secret if one asks, allowing one’s mind to be lifted of their own darkness and granted someone else’s.
Entelanus the Enduring (Patron: Calvus Scorchhound) [@.smore]
Entelanus is a golden sheep with matching horns and eyes of fire. He’s arrogant and proud, with a fierceness to his soul that most would not expect from an animal who looks like prey. His pride for being a demigod is ironic for he was an accident, suffice to say. Sol’shak cut a piece of his mane and gave it to a human- though the story differs on who it was and why there was such a gift- and the human chose to weave it into a grand blanket. The blanket itself was said to contain healing properties, an offering of immortality to any who wear it. However, things didn't go as expected and the golden blanket, warm and fluffy as it was, began to take the shape of a living creature and gained the thought of one as well. It’s said that to shear Entelanus and make a cloak of his wool would provide the same benefits as the original blanket of Sol’shak’s mane.
Cissivel the Elusive (Patron: Arbor Maplehound) [@.creamcrow]
Cissivel is a creature of speed, escape, and trickery, renowned across Estania for their quick-thinking and traps that allow them to live another day every day. Similar to a jackalope in appearance, Cissivel was a creation of Rath’shak in response to the demonic uprising. Luring demons to follow, they lead them into traps that leave demons stuck in caves behind large rocks or sinking to the bottom of the sea for eons, unable to cause harm to anyone else. They’re a serious sort who gets rather anxious to slow down, all the more reason why it’s said that if you want to stop Cissivel on their path, it’s best to get them a gift to go along with it.
Neflein.
Based on Scandinavian and Slavic cultures (namely Norse, Danish, Swedish, Russian, Serbian, and Polish), Neflein is a large, standoffish kingdom in the northernmost reaches of the continent, the land of frozen fjords, deep forests, and tall mountains. Home of the Sun Prophet, the people of Neflein favor the sun circle the most, followed by the earth circle, while the moon circle is mostly shunned and mistrusted, as is Mon'shak. They're a suspicious, religious folk, and don't warm well to outsiders, often resentful of the empire as a whole. They're skilled sailors, having their own explorer's guild, and also pride themselves on being skilled craftsmen. Neflein, while a member of the Estanian empire, previously considered themselves an empire of their own, and refer to their ruler as such.
Neflein is ruled by the -winter family, who reside in the heart of their little empire, in the capital of Kaspirmansk.
Current Rulers: Balanchine and Shinobu Winterchaser Current Sun Priestess: Drysi Autumnsun
Nesushchiyvet (Patron: CLAIMED) [@.semper]
A beautiful golden rooster, with eyes that gleam like diamonds, and a comb made of flames, Nesushchiyvet was created by Sol'shak from the hand of a Neflish Empress, who cut it off to seek knowledge on curing a deadly plague, and the waters of what is now referred to as the Well of Life. She gained the knowledge on curing the plague, and aided by Nesushchiyvet and the first Sun Priest, thousands of lives were saved. Nesushchiyvet lives now at the Well of Life, offering his knowledge and service to anyone willing to sacrifice something of utmost importance to them. It is rumored that his cry can bring back the dead. At the end of the world, he will be eaten by a crazed Valravi, and his crow will signal the beginning of the end.
Valravi (Patron: Sasha Falsecrest) [@.headphoneactor] Valravi is the son of Mon'shak, who retrieves the souls of the cowardly and treacherous on the way to the afterlife. He takes the form of a massive half wolf, half raven beast, with a bone mask as white as the moon itself, and it is said that his songs tell prophecies, and of events to come. If you seek him, you will learn of what your life is to become, both good and bad, and you will become a seer yourself, if you don't go mad with the knowledge. At the end of days, Valravi will be driven mad by his own visions, and will destroy Nesushchiyvet, becoming incapable of helping Mon'shak reign in the souls of the forsaken.
Kozhalezviy (Patron: Kaja Gravewind) [@.equus]
A dragon with blades for scales and flame for eyes, Kozhalezviy was crafted by Rath'shak himself, a daughter to lead humans into battle against the demon tribes originally. It is said that her metal scales can be forged into weapons far beyond what mortal metals can make. She is the mentor of heroes, and as long as her proud nature isn't crossed, she's kind and motherly to humans that seek her out. At the end of days, her scales and claws will rip the border between worlds, releasing the fallen heroes to do war with the risen scoundrels.
Ageleand.
Based on Celtic cultures (such as Irish, Scottish, Cornish, Manx and Welsh), with a touch of Roman, Ageleand is a small kingdom largely dictated by tradition and honor. While they favor the earth circle in their choices, they also have a strong affinity with moon magic, due to being the home of the Bard's College. Ageleand is a kingdom where a brutal warrior culture collides naturally with a rich bardic tradition that spans back many centuries, with songs of gladiators and other heroic fights being most common.
Ageleand is ruled by the Fang family, in the capital of Balenshiel, alongside four different noble clans who help keep order in the kingdom.
Current Rulers: Naois and Diana Fangbreaker Clan Lords: Dana Stonesworn, Carina Brambleglen, Teasag Marshflower, and Kieron Moorsomething
Gaibhnenna (Patron: Myrna Brittleblaze) [@.equus] Part tree, part highland cow, Gaibhnenna is a creature that was woken up from the earth by Sol'shak, in the time of a long past famine. She's shy and reclusive, but her milk is said to cure diseases, and the plums that grow from her back can bring the dead back into the realm of the living, and the wool from her body is said to be of endless supply. It's unknown where she rests now, but she's often portrayed in Agelean ballads as the tree of life itself, to be woken once more in a time of great need. While most myths claim that she was simply woken up like this, other sources imply that she was a normal Highland cow that was merged with a tree. Sometimes referred to as the "Mother of Plenty".
Failiniar (Patron: Padrig Swiftguard) [@.smore]
The original brother of the hunt, Failiniar is an Elkhound that was both Ainé's steed in that first hunt against demons, and her companion, created by Rath'shak. It is said that his sense of smell and his ferocity are second to none, and that you can still hear his blood chilling screams and howls during large battles. He doesn't sleep, and he doesn't eat until his task is complete, which many say was what the gift inherited by the -Fang family was based on. Rath'shak created him from the thrill of the hunt, the bones of those already lost, and the armor of the fallen hunters. Sometimes referred to as simply "The Devourer".
Nuggi (Patron: Cerridwen "Cerrid" Meadowpeach) [@.creamcrow] Created not in a time of stress, but because Mon'shak himself was lonely, and wanted a friend, Nuggi is a docile, playful creature, a horse with the tail of a dolphin, who can transform into a young man. His songs are legendary, and if a Bard manages to find him, he'll address you with a friendly challenge: beat him, and he'll grant you all of the knowledge he possesses of song craft, and hand you a harp made of ivory and seaweed, which will play the most beautiful music you've ever heard. However, he's shy, and demands to teach you, threats of violence, or even a general nasty demeanor will cause him to flee once more into the streams and oceans of Ageleand, and he will hide from you forevermore. Sometimes referred to as "the Weaver of Fables".
Gesmain.
Gesmain is heavily inspired off of France, with smaller inspirations from England and Germany as well. They’re a small kingdom, heavily tied to the moon circle, as they have the moon prophet, who is always the second born child of the royal family. They’re extremely religious and superstitious and favor Mon’shak over all the gods. Gesmain is a kingdom that values education and elegance above defense and artillery, they don’t have the best defenses, which is why they have always leaned so heavily on Estania for help, however they are extremely well educated and have numerous libraries and schools to teach those with and without magic. Often known for their lavish balls and long celebrations, their only real form of defense lies within their knights (that serve the people) and their jousketeers (that specifically serve only the ruling monarch), which has led to Gesmain having a rather large criminal underbelly full of heretics, degenerates, mercenaries, and spies.
Gesmain is ruled by the Moon family, with the eldest child becoming the next monarch, and the second oldest becoming the next moon prophet. Alongside the Moon family, the pope of the Foi Lunnerel Church, plays a significant part in overseeing the kingdom, all residing in the capital of Gesmain: Roi Lune, alongside the many aristocratic nobles that are spread about across the enter kingdom.
Current Ruler: Sedge and Alain Duskmoon Current Moon Prophet: Erato Moonsoul
The Alicorn (Patron: Wibke “Wink” Crescentbay) [@.smore] The Alicorn is the most beloved of all the demigods in Gesmain, she is said to have been made out of pure moonlight, with knowledge beyond anything anyone could dream up. Legend says the Alicorn was a gift from Mon’shak himself, as he carefully crafted her out of the finest of the moon’s shining light; she's said to appear as a beautiful, pure white horse with a spiral horn and large, long, white wings. Alicorn is said to be a seeker of truth, and only appears to the worthy, it is also said that if she appears to you, you may ask her three questions and she will give you an honest answer, regardless on of the questions are of the heart, of the mind, or of the universe itself. It is also said that the Alicorn and the Griffin are forever intertwined through a flame of love. Sometimes they are lovers, and sometimes they are enemies, however no matter what, the two are connected for eternity.
The Boarwin (Patron: CLAIMED) [@.semper]
The Boarwin is seen as the oldest of all the demigods in Gesmain, he was crafted out of mud, rock, and clay, by the ancient people of Gesmain, under the direction and challenge of Rath’shak, and when they were finished, he decided he liked it well enough to bless Boarwin with life and now he wanders across the world seeking for people who are truly strong of heart. Said to appear in the shape of a large wild boar, with an earthy brown coat covered in a cape of moss, and large white wings, he is a bit of a gruff demigod, always stuck between Alicorn and Griffin’s love affair, however he is also the most sensible of the demigods and if you find him (or he finds you), he will give you a choice: you can either walk away with a small reward, or you can compete in two trials of his picking and if you succeed, he will grant you with two rewards of your choosing, whether they be wealth, magic, or whatever else your heart desires.
The Griffin (Patron: Nouvel Lovelock) [@.creamcrow] The Griffin is a herald from Sol’shak. It is said he was created by the cries of all the souls that died during a plague from long ago that Sol’shak himself created. Ridden with guilt by the Griffin, Sol’shak banished him to the world of the living to serve them until sickness no longer resides on earth. He is depicted as a large creature with the front half of a fiery golden eagle, and the back half of a dusky grey lion. The Griffin is said to be partially made out of the fire of the sun, and half made out of the smoke caused by the fire. Griffin is a symbol of passion, and as such, he rewards the passionate. It is said that the Griffin can look into your eyes and see if they burn with the fire of passion, and if they do, he will grant you the one wish you yearn for the most. It is also said that Griffin and Alicorn are lovers, constantly torn between their natural rivalry and their obvious affections for one another.
Jespuijan.
Taking inspiration from Middle Eastern countries and certain Southeastern ones (such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and India), Jespuijan takes pride in the desert that makes up their land, the sea that surrounds them and sustains them, and the gemstones that lurk under the surface of their kingdom. They favor Sol’shak of the gods, believing he watches down on them every day, even if his love is harsh upon their backs. On the other side of the spectrum, Rath’shak is looked harshly upon in the majority of Jespuijan, to the point that having no magic is considered to be better than becoming an earth mage. While the majority of the kingdom aligns with these beliefs, for many years now, pirates have been rising up against the royalty of Jespuijan and using earth magic as their main method of fighting. They’ve overall a people of healing and learning, who rely on the ocean around them like it’s their lifeline.
Jespuijan is ruled by the Jewel family. While their relationship with the people hasbeen tenuous over time, they stand firm while they rule from the island Awbaltaj.
Current Ruler: Ikraam and Khalida Jewelshark
Sunbug (Patron: Menna Summerstream) [@.arexasaurus] The Sunbug is a demigod of Sol'shak. It lives in a cycle of life and death, going from egg to glow worm to firefly and back to egg. It’s reborn and grows and dies and reborn again, a cost of becoming a demigod while on a final breath of life. It’s said that the Sunbug was a fallen star, crashed into the sands of Jespuijan, and taken pity upon by Sol’shak. He gave the Sunbug new life, but it was too late. The star had dimmed too much and the light faded out, surprising even the god when the shell of a star that it left behind began to crack. Out came a glowing larva, simply beginning the start to their new life as a demigod. Luckily, it retains its memories upon revival, simply creating an old soul who values the hidden over the shining, for despite the beaming light it gives off, they’ve been hiding from Layla’a for as long as it can remember. If you think you’ve found it on your own, you’re wrong, it brought you there for a reason. It’s said that its shell, left over during each rebirth, contains healing properties.
Qalamari (Patron: Juma Hiddentrack) [@.equus] Kraken of the oceans, ruler of the seas, though not as violent as many might make her out to be, Qalamari is a creature of great renown to the people of Jespuijan. She has a patience to her and a curiosity never sated, but long gone are the days where she seeks out humans for inquiry. Sent down to the planet by Mon’shak, a piece of himself ripped away to be given thoughts of her own, to learn from humans and their unique cultures, she asked questions. For every question with an honest answer, she taught them something new- such as how to sail the sea. For every question met with a lie, she’d shut down a little further, disappointed with human’s dishonesty. It’s said that she eventually reached a breaking point, she abandoned humans and fell into a deep slumber at the bottom of the sea. People await the day she’s willing to try again and greet them once more as she had done hundreds and hundreds of years before.
Layla’a (Patron: Suhana Spiralshore) [@.headphoneactor]
A death worm that lives underneath the sand dunes of Jespuijan, occasionally raising it’s body out high into the night as though trying to grasp something that’s not there, Layla’a is a hunter whose only prey is another demigod: The Sunbug. While commonly thought to be a mindless being of chaos, he’s rather organized and careful in his movements beneath the ground. He avoids humans settlements and is kind enough to try and avoid the senseless murder of those he views lesser. He’s the son of Rath’shak and the night sky sent to the planet to bring back the fallen star. He can only return to his father’s side if he has completed the task given to him, making the endless years on the hunt a quest he can’t give up. To stop him in his path may either impress or irritate Layla’a, leaving a split chance of him gifting you an unbreakable tooth to use as a weapon or gifting you an end to your life with no further thought.
Uthela.
Based off of many Asian and Southeast Asian countries, (such as China, Japan, Thailand, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Philippines), Uthela is a large country, made mostly of jungle, the people here honor all three circles, however they’re led by the earth circle the most, especially as the Earth Prophet hails from Uthela. A proud country full of many traditions, with honorable warriors known as Kishirai and the Kirra (heavily based off of samurai and ninja, respectively) protecting the land and the people, under the service of the monarchy. However there’s a lot that goes on underneath the surface, with assassins guilds and river raiders that attack and pillage small river villages; and secret, long lost hidden libraries that claim to be home of the knowledge of the gods.
Uthela is ruled by the Serpent family, who reside in the capital: Nagebi, however the two sides of Uthela, split by the great river, have rarely gotten along and the feud between western and eastern Uthela continues to threaten civil war to this day.
Current Rulers: Jiro & Savlius Serpentblood Earth Prophet: Mai Snowearth
The Great Serpent (Patron: Cam Cherryscar) [@.arexasaurus] The Great Serpent is a magnificent, giant dragon that once looked over the people of Uthela as a demigod and child of both Rath’shak and the ocean, however, having grown sick of the people’s constant fighting, the great serpent divided the land by digging their body into the ground and creating a large river that split the land in half. Heartbroken by the people’s hatred for each other, the Great Serpent rested its head at the edge of the sea, and withered away, leaving nothing but its large skull left, which is where the capital of Uthela (Nagebi), now resides, deep within the center of the Great Serpent’s skull. However, the Great Serpent did leave one last gift to the people...it’s own child, the next Great Serpent. Still nothing but a baby, the new Great Serpent is claimed to live deep within the river, roughly reaching the size of a whale.
Yu’sun (Patron: Shunyuan Bleakrust) [@.headphoneactor] Yu’son is a playful, mischievous, and endlessly curious demigod of Sol’shak, however he is not a child of the god’s. Rather, he started out as a curious little monkey that took a special interest in healing his fellow monkeys and even humans, so naturally, Sol’shak took a personal liking to, and blessed him by turning him into a demigod. Since then, Yu’sun has traveled across Uthela, healing those he deems worthy and even teaching others how to heal as well. He also created a group known as the Sol Shamans, a tribe of sun mages and arcani healers who are the most prominent healers in all of Uthela, led by the Sol Shaman Chief, who is appointed by a group of the most talented and skilled sun mages there are.
Jianako (Patron: CLAIMED) [@.semper] Demigod of Mon’shak, Jianako is a clever, nine tailed fox with the ability to change her appearance into a human, which comes from the fact that she once was a beautiful woman, loved and desired for her beauty, however, her beauty quickly became a curse and she was misused and eventually killed because of it. Lucky for her, Mon’shak took pity on her and reincarnated her as a demigod. Now Jianako wanders across Uthela, challenging the hearts of humanity, and if she deems your heart unjust...let’s just say it’s likely you won’t be heard from again. However, if you pass her test, she will bless you by giving you whatever your heart truly desires.

Sylvi Lighthelm
Solveig ‘Sylvi’ Lighthelm | 19 | Female (she/her)| Neflein (Kaspirmansk) Sun Circle - healing injuries, numbing power, energy trading | swordplay (sword) and non-verbal (humming) Familiar (demon & familiar names) [gender/level]
- If one were to look at Solveig Lighthelm, a tall and strongly-built young woman who almost always seems to bear some visible scars, they might assume her to be older than she is. As a matter of fact, she is only nineteen. The girl, who has gone by the variation on her name of ‘Sylvi’ all her life, is a member of the Neflish nobility. And she is not just descended from any noble line, either. She is descended from Zinaida Winterlight, and by extension Marfa Winterlight, the Tsaritsa whose sacrifice of her hand led to the birth of Nesushchiyvet. Due to this connection, she is distantly related to Balanchine Winterchaser and Drysi Autumnsun. Despite the fact that they are barely related and the fact that she does not tend to put too much stock in her noble blood and royal ancestry, her allegiance to her two older ‘cousins’ cannot be questioned. Sylvi is something of a fighter, having a natural (but somewhat untested) ability with a sword. She hopes to become a dedicated defender of her kingdom, but nothing more. Indeed, the girl took great interest in the Red Dawn Sailors and especially the Steelcloaks growing up and served for a while with the latter between the ages of 15 and 17 as part of her royal duties. The girl has little interest in the aspects of her life related to her nobility and royal descent, and couldn’t imagine herself in a position like that of Balanchine. Or indeed any position of authority, really.
Sylvi is somewhat rash and can be a little hotheaded. The young woman, because of her youth and her skill with a sword, seems to think herself untouchable and far stronger than she is. However, she has not yet seen a battle and her abilities are untempered due to her lack of experience. She is a confident and loyal young woman who will always defend her family and anyone she believes to have been wronged. She does not necessarily overestimate her abilities, but she underestimates the vicissitudes of the world around her and the reality of combat. She is somewhat more prone than her cousin Balanchine to rushing into things, though she does attempt to advise caution in his dealings with other nations. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, but might not stop to consider the nuances of a situation before acting and making a judgement. Her heart is in the right place, but she often does not stop to let her head inform her choices. She has a fun-loving and slightly chaotic streak, enjoying general rambunctiousness and excitement. That perhaps does not help her case with those who see her as lacking maturity. However, she means to do her family proud — and Nesushchiyvet too, if she is able.

Eboric Ghyllrider
Eboric Ghyllrider | 24 | Male (he/him) | Gesmain (Angelford) Earth Circle - specialties (3) | mediums (2) Familiar (demon & familiar names) [gender/level] - Eboric is the youngest of four children; his brother Aethelstan is the eldest, followed by his sisters Elwyn and Cynegifu and then finally Eboric. His family are viscounts, with his eldest brother set to inherit. Having elder siblings left Eboric with the freedom to devote himself to being a knight without worrying too much about burdensome duties, something he has pursued eagerly and with gratitude. Asu Nightsong
Asuga ‘Asu’ Nightsong | 22 | Female (she/her) | Uthela (City) Moon Circle - specialties (3) | mediums (2) Familiar (demon & familiar names) [gender/level] - an additional spot for an (optional) description of your characters, allowing you to go as in detail as you want, including family if you have the desire to make them as npcs. Eulalie Misthaven
Eulalie Misthaven | 26 | Female (she/her) | Gesmain (Ciel de Nuit) Moon Circle - divination, telepathy, dream walking | glyphs (runes) and linguistics (writing) Familiar (demon & familiar names) [gender/level]
- Eulalie is most commonly found in the Moonache Athenaeum. Her reasons for this are twofold; firstly, she is a scholar who very much enjoys reading and secondly, she has no patience for other people and cannot imagine a better environment than one in which it is literally prohibited for other people to speak to her. She would rather die than suffer the exchange of smalltalk. She is reclusive, introverted and does not suffer fools gladly (and thinks everyone is a fool). She’s sharp and witty with a sarcastic sense of humour when she chooses to use it. Not necessarily tactless but rather blunt, her people skills are lacking. However she’s bright, resourceful and can think outside the box. Once you get through her prickly exterior there is no telling what you might find. Regardless, to underestimate this fiery girl with a barbed tongue would be folly.
Eulalie was born a peasant, and extremely shocked to find that she was one of the rare individuals who was not a noble and possessed magic. While honing these abilities in her education, she fell in love with learning. However, she also discovered very quickly that she would not be accepted by those of her peers who were the children of nobles. She was always treated differently. It was at that moment that she decided that it was better to have nothing to do with people, whenever she could help it. So far it’s worked out fairly well for her; avoiding people appears in her eyes to be a good way of avoiding disappointment. As such, she has no intention of changing her ways anytime soon. She therefore has little in the way of friends, apart from Wink. She is shy and Eulalie finds her company more tolerable than other people (which is as great a compliment as Eulalie really gives), plus they share in common the fact that they both prefer books to people.

Aslac Silverreach
Aslac Silverreach | 28 | Male (he/him) | Ageleand (Melkirk) Arcanix | N/A N/A - Aslac is cunning, that is for certain. He has a silver tongue and more confidence than is probably due to him. He’s also most certainly out for himself (and his family, insofar as he benefits and gets to prove them wrong) and will do anything to advance his own position. Two-faced, deceptive and manipulative, he knows exactly how to tell you what you need to hear. He’s also well-versed in politics and current events, which he turns to his advantage. Somewhat cowardly and with no desire to get his hands dirty, he tends to operate in the shadows. In secret, he is far more bold. Indeed, he has been known to take on quite big risks if the personal reward is high. However, if he can distance himself from his activities, he will do so as much as possible. He’s intelligent, good with people, but almost invariably has bad intentions.
Born the eldest child of a minor noble family, Aslac’s life was turned upside down when by the age of ten, he had not yet shown any sign of possessing magic. Upon taking the test, his worst fears were confirmed; he was an Arcanix. His parents, shocked and ashamed (to put it rather mildly) that their son of noble blood did not possess magic, tried with all their strength to sweep Aslac’s distinct lack of magical ability under the rug. While his deeply image-concerned family did not abandon him for fear of drawing more attention to Aslac’s situation and thus damaging the family reputation, their relationship became incredibly strained and did not recover. His entire family withdrew from him and associated with him as little as possible. He was treated as the black sheep of the family, given little to no public duties and hidden away at events. For all intents and purposes, he did not exist. Thank the gods his parents had his magic-wielding younger siblings to salvage the family reputation.
His family engaged in small-scale diplomatic duties and had connections across the border in Neflein. Despite his parents’ best attempts to distance Aslac from the family and its business, he was quick to pick up on the skills of negotiation, manipulation and oratory. Embittered by his treatment over the years and by the perceived unfairness of him lacking magic, Aslac decided that he did not need magic to get ahead in the world. Indeed, he was going to gain power and influence for himself and his family and thereby win back their favour without a magic power in sight. He has been building something of a power base for himself at home in Ageleand by trading in secrets and manipulating those around him. He has plenty of money for spies and informants and has his ear constantly to the ground for any situation which he might turn to his advantage. If something is happening in Ageleand, Aslac knows about it, and if you wish to learn a secret, Aslac is the one to whom you should go. He has also come to the conclusion that a war within the empire could be of benefit to him and his family, for that kind of political turmoil is an ideal opportunity to further the family’s ambitions and improve their fortunes. With this in mind, his attentions have recently begun to turn across the border to Neflein…
No Demigod | @.semper
Aimel Silverreach
Aimel Silverreach | 21 | Female | Ageleand (Melkirk) Circle - specialties (3) | mediums (2) Familiar (demon & familiar names) [gender/level] - As the youngest daughter of the Silverreach family, Aimel was only a toddler when her eldest brother Aslac was effectively disowned from the family. She was expected, as were all of her siblings, to participate in their parents’ exclusionary behaviour toward Aslac lest they receive the same treatment. Aimel was under a lot of pressure to do so, though she was probably the least harsh toward her brother despite being the youngest when the negative treatment of him started, meaning the exclusion of her brother was most normalised for her out of any of the siblings. She was brought up with strong expectations related to her magic (her parents never got over the fear that another of their children would turn out like their eldest) and the family reputation. Normally as the youngest she might have carried less of a burden in terms of family duty and reputation than her siblings, but after the disaster with Aslac, Aimel and her other three siblings (Asketil, Aedyt and Austeyn) faced increased pressure from their parents. Lowen Newmark
Lowen Newmark | 22 | Male (he/him) | Ageleand (Hendremark) Moon circle - illusions, telekinesis and shadows | instrumental (lute) and dictation (commands) Familiar (demon & familiar names) [gender/level] - Lowen grew up with his (elder by two minutes and he was never allowed to forget it) twin Arthyen. Their family had never been particularly well-off and the twins had to do whatever work (or some slightly less legal activities) they could to provide. No Demigod | @.semper

I'm interested in joining, is making a character for the royal families an option or should we stick with normal nobles?

I'm interested in joining, is making a character for the royal families an option or should we stick with normal nobles? Hi! I’m glad you’re interested in joining, unfortunately as of right now, the royal families aren’t open to children, as most of them are only in their late 20s, early 30s, plus, aside from the beginning of the roleplay, I’m afraid the royals won’t be in too much anyways, however you are more than welcome to make a noble!
