☂ 𝓣𝓲𝓷𝓾𝓿𝓲𝓮𝓵 - *puts on debate fedora* I somewhat liked her when she was first introduced, but after that, she just didn't appeal to me. I dislike her because she's just... helpless, is the word? I mean, I don't really mind kittypets joining a clan since they provide fresh blood and new strength, but it irks me when they don't even know how to hunt, protect themselves, etc. Daisy was at least somewhat independent from Twolegs, as she "lived" with them, but hunted for herself (I think?), but in the clan... she doesn't seem to do anything. I do think it was nice that she worked as a full-time nursery queen, helping other queens, but other than that, she doesn't really seem to have a point? I'm not a big fan of characters with personalities like hers anyways. I haven't read any books with her in quite awhile, but from what I remember, she was just nervous all the time, and didn't really contribute anything besides kits. My dislike for her outweighs her positive aspects, which is why I dislike her.
That was her name. Thank you for correcting me on Blossomfall. (: I couldn't remember if that was her name or not. Daisy wasn't really helpless, though. And to be fair, she didn't even intend on staying in ThunderClan for very long.
Also, she did learn to fight. It's just that only one training session was shown.
She tried, but she wasn't very successful at it. So she decided to help the Clan in another way. Why should she keep on trying to do something she isn't good at instead of doing something she really loves, which is taking care of kits? She'd only waste both her time and the Clan's time if she continued to try fighting.
And when Daisy left, she didn't even want to go back at first.
Smokey convinced her otherwise, and she was even hurt by it.
Really, everyone seemed to care more about Daisy's kits than Daisy herself, or at least at first. It seemed like her only true friends at the time were Cloudtail, Ferncloud, and Sorreltail.
As the series progresses, she's shown to be more confident and mature.
And Daisy's life was far from easy: Smoky didn't love her, she had to lead her kits into the unknown so they wouldn't be taken away, Cloudtail didn't love her, Berrykit got his tail mangled, and Spiderleg never even intended on having kits with her in the first place. She even called him out on it in Long Shadows!
She's also lost nearly her entire family by this point, with her only remaining kits being Mousewhisker, Berrynose, and Rosepetal, but she still keeps going.
Daisy has done alot as a permanent queen.
She's helped out many queens take care of their kits, like when she took care of Millie's litter when the latter caught greencough.
She showed the most worry for Poppyfrost when the tortoiseshell was feeling depressed in The Fourth Apprentice.
Firestar put her in charge of watching the queens and elders when the fire happened in Fading Echoes.
In The Forgotten Warrior, Daisy swears that she'll protect Sorreltail when WindClan attacked.
And despite her lack of skill, she participated in the battle training when the Great Battle was nearing, managing to work with moves that both she and the other queens could use while still being able to protect the kits. As a result, she managed to help fight off the Dark Forest in The Last Hope.
She also helped Brightheart take care of Lilyheart, Seedpaw, Snowbush, Ambermoon, and Dewnose when they were kits and has even gained respect within the Clan.
I especially loved her portrayal inBramblestar's Storm. She's seen to be helping the others many times and even scolds some of them whenever they're acting like mouse-brains. Her development is a lot more evident in that book, as are some of the other background characters.
She was also mentioned to have gone hunting at one point in TAQ.
I'd also like to point out that tgere have been other permanent queens before Daisy. One example of this would be with Goldenflower.
Speckletail is another example of a permanent queen, staying in the nursery up until Snowkit's death in ADP.
And finally there's Clovertail, who consoled Leafstar several times in regards to the kits and even helped out with them.
Permanent queens are just as important. As said by Ferncloud herself:
And it doesn't even take all that long for a she-cat to become a queen, anyway. Through PoT and TAQ alone, the queens in ThunderClan were: Daisy (first litter born in Twilight and apprenticed post Sunset; second litter born in Outcast and apprenticed post-Sunrise)
Ferncloud (last litter born pre-The Sight and apprenticed in Outcast)
Millie (kits born in Eclipse and apprenticed post-Sunrise)
Whitewing (kits born in Sunrise and apprenticed in The Fourth Apprentice)
Poppyfrost (kits born in The Fourth Apprentice and apprenticed in The Forgotten Warrior due to error)
Sorreltail (kits born in The Forgotten Warrior and apprenticed post-The Last Hope)
Brightheart (kits born in The Last Hope and apprenticed post-The Last Hope)
Cinderheart (kits born post-Bramblestar's Storm and became apprentices in the manga)
Squirrelflight (kits born pre-The Apprentice's Quest and apprenticed in The Apprentice's Quest)
Lilyheart (kits born pre-The Apprentice's Quest and soon to be apprenticed)
Daisy isn't really that bad of a cat. She's had excellent development, and despite all of the hardships she's endured, she still stays strong and loyal to ThunderClan.
