Introduction:

It is a new era in SunClan. Former generations have passed, leaving a new leader to take over. Having just received her nine lives, our newest leader is uncertain yet of how she will run the Clan - will she live up to the legacy of the great leaders of the past, or will she start SunClan on a new path? The Clan has been struggling since the death of its former leader, Scarletstar, who died too young. There is the threat of rogues lurking just outside the territory, and the other Clans are constantly pushing at our borders. Do you have what it takes to bring SunClan back to greatness?

Prefixes:

Here is a list of all prefixes used thus far. If a prefix has already been used twice then it cannot be used again. Obviously, I encourage you to use prefixes that are not on this list at all. If a name is listed, it has been used once. If a name is ~~crossed out~~ then it's been used twice and cannot be used again.

Clan Rules:

☼ Activity - You must be active, especially if you have a cat in a position of power (leader, deputy, medicine cat, medicine cat apprentice). For a more detailed description of the activity rules, see the next section. I will still add your characters if you do not read the Activity Rules section, but it is your responsibility to know those rules. If you don't know them and you get a warning or your characters are removed, that's on you.
☼ Coding - I created this coding myself. Please do not take my coding and use it on other threads. If I find my coding being used elsewhere, I will report it for plagiarism.
☼ Kits - No kit stealing/saving/anything. The kits in this Clan belong to this Clan only.
☼ Killing - If you plan on killing a cat, make sure the person who rp's as that cat is okay with it first.
☼ Bullying - Bullying, rudeness, and arguing will not be tolerated. I will remove your characters if you are rude or if you bully anybody, and I will report your post.
☼ Spam - Please do not spam this thread. While some out of character chat is okay, there shouldn't be more of that than actual rp. Also, I do not appreciate people who are not members of this rp participating in out of character chat here - this thread is not for your chat, it is for SunClan's rp.
☼ Queens/Mates - No apprentice queens or mates. Wait until they are warriors. Apprentices can have crushes, though.
☼ Perfect Characters - No perfect characters. All characters must have some kind of flaws. Going off of that, your character cannot be bad at everything.
☼ Unrealistic Characters - No unrealistic characters - no unrealistic coats or eye colors, no wings, no super powers, etc. Kits can't be heroes, deaf cats cannot magically begin to hear again, etc.
☼ Names - Cats from outside the Clan must take on a Clan name when they take their vow as a warrior. I don't want this Clan to be full of warriors who don't have proper warrior names. Please see the "prefixes" section for rules about how many people can use a specific prefix. You cannot use a name that is unrealistic. For example, these cats are not going to know what a flamingo is, so you can't name your cat Flamingofoot. If you aren't sure whether a name is acceptable or not, please ask me. I'd be happy to help you find a realistic name.
☼ Sexuality and Gender - Sexualities besides straight are fine, but that cannot be the focus point of the character. Your character is not their sexuality. Trans characters are allowed, but again, that is not all of who they are. Give your characters personalities outside of their sexuality and gender!
☼ Literacy - Please be literate in rp. No chat speak. Also, please use proper spelling and grammar to the best of your ability in rp. There isn't a minimum number of lines, but try to use at least a couple when you're actively rp'ing with someone else (starters or fillers are different
☼ Out of Character Chat - Any chat outside of rp must be contained in (), [], or {}
☼ Advertising - Do not advertise any other website, Clan, rp, or page on here without permission.
☼ Number of Characters - You may have as many characters as you would like, but you must keep up with them all.
☼ Ceremonies and Warrior Names - If any of your characters are kits or apprentices, please let me know when you would like them to become apprentices or warriors. I will not do the ceremony until you ask me to. Also, include in your joining form what you would like their warrior name to be. If you do not include this in your joining form, I will come up with a warrior name for your cat. If you would like to change the warrior name that I come up with, let me know. Finally, please include the word "sunshine" in the "other" section of your joining form if you have read these rules.
☼ Fun - Obviously, I want you to have fun in this rp! Feel free to suggest plot ideas to me if you'd like.

Activity Rules:

First and foremost, you must be active to be a member of this Clan. To be active means to actually rp. You will not be counted as being active for a day if you only post out of character chat or asking if anybody has any open characters. It is your responsibility to get your characters involved in the rp, nobody else's. Therefore, if you post asking if anybody has characters open, and nobody responds, and then you do nothing, that is not a valid reason for inactivity. If your characters are all stuck in rp with someone who hasn't responded in a while, it is your responsibility to free up your character - waiting for a response from someone else is not an excuse to be inactive for 2+ weeks.
If you are inactive for two weeks or more without letting me know ahead of time, I will send you a warning via PM. After I send the warning, you have one week to respond to me to keep your characters in the Clan. You can respond in two ways: you can respond to my PM with a reason for your inactivity and when you plan on being active again, or you can rp in the Clan. If you do not do either of these things within a week of me sending the warning, your characters will be removed.
If you have a character in a position of power and I have to send you a warning message, your character will be removed from that position of power and they will become a regular warrior or apprentice. That position of power will be open for somebody else to take. None of your characters will be allowed to hold a position of power if you have received an activity warning.
If you know that you will be inactive for a period of longer than two weeks, please let me know VIA PM. I need to have the notice in my inbox so that way if I go to send you a warning message, the message will be there to remind me that you had notified me. If you let me know ahead of time and are inactive for two weeks or more, you have no need to worry about losing your position or your characters.
If you have already received a warning, and then become inactive again, you will not be given another warning. If you are inactive for two weeks after receiving a warning and becoming active again, I will simply remove your characters without warning.
If your characters have been removed and you wish to re-join the Clan, you may do so. However, you will not be allowed to have a position of power.
I do have a running list of every member of the Clan, their characters, and the last time they were active. If I send a warning, I also make a note of that on the document. I pay close attention to the dates that people are active, and I update the list daily. Therefore, claims that you have been active when you really haven't will not be tolerated. However, I do realize that I can make mistakes, and if you honestly believe that you were active more recently, I need you to tell me what page that activity was on. Finally, please include the word "daylight" in the other section of your joining form so that I know you read these rules.
Keeping this Clan active is incredibly important to me, so you need to follow these rules.

Territory:

SunClan is located in a forest of mainly oak trees that are spaced out enough to provide plenty of sunlight. The camp is located in the heart of the territory in a rocky ravine that soaks up sunlight, making the camp stay warm.
☼ The Great Willow - The Great Willow is a large willow tree not far from the camp. It is one of the largest trees in the forest, and its branches span in a wide diameter, with a shady clearing underneath.
☼ Basking Boulders - The Basking Boulders is the name of a clearing on one edge of SunClan territory, near the river that marks the border with MoonClan. The trees here open up into a wide clearing, where there are wide, flat boulders that cats can bask on. The elders enjoy coming here frequently.
☼ The Elder Woods - The Elder Woods is a small copse of elder trees. Hunting is fantastic here, as there is plenty of undergrowth for prey to hide in.
☼ Mossy Clearing - The Mossy Clearing is a clearing near the camp. It has a large, old oak tree in the middle of it. It is completely covered in moss. This is the clearing where apprentices go to practice battle moves.
☼ Silver Creek - A small stream running near the border between MoonClan and SunClan territories. It's known for its beautiful scenery, the low-hanging trees, different birds, and multiple types of colorful flowers. Couples often go there. It is always breathtaking, even in leaf-bare.
☼ Abandoned Twoleg Nest - Near the edge of SunClan territory is an abandoned Twoleg nest. The nest is mostly in ruins, but is a good place for collecting herbs, particularly catmint.
☼ Twolegplace - On the far border of SunClan territory is a twolegplace. This is where Autumn's Wanderers make their home.

Camp:

SunClan's camp is located in a rocky ravine at the heart of the territory. The rocks soak up sunlight, allowing the camp to stay warm even in the coldest moons. The camp is surrounded by thick gorse and brambles, with a narrow tunnel as an opening. There are wild sunflowers around the clearing, inside the camp wall.
☼ The Leader's Den - The leader's den is located in a large boulder hollowed out by an ancient stream that is no longer there. The leader stands on this boulder, called the Highrock, for Clan meetings.
☼ The Warriors' Den - The warriors' den is located in a bramble thicket by the camp entrance.
☼ The Apprentices' Den - The apprentices' den is located on the other side of the entrance to the camp under a gorse bush.
☼ The Elders' Den - The elders sleep under a clump of ferns next to the Clan leader's den.
☼ The Nursery - The nursery is located in a hollowed out tree beside the elders' den, under the thickest gorse and brambles of the camp wall.
☼ The Medicine Cat's Den - The medicine cat's den is located under another clump of bushes, with a clearing which is large enough for two sick cats to make nests. There is a small boulder on the edge of the clearing behind which the medicine cat and their apprentice sleep. This is also where they store herbs.

Getting to know Ripplestone can be difficult, but once you finally do, he is an incredibly sweet tom who cares greatly for those who manage to get close to him. The Warrior Code:

Defend your Clan, even with your life. You may have friendships with cats from other Clans, but your loyalty must remain to your Clan, as one day you may meet them in battle.
Do not hunt or trespass on another Clan's territory.
Elders, queens, and kits must be fed before apprentices and warriors. Unless they have permission, apprentices may not eat until they have hunted to feed the elders or trained. If any warrior or apprentice is sick or injured, they may eat while the elders, queens, and kits are eating.
Prey is killed only to be eaten. Give thanks to StarClan for its life.
A kit must be at least six moons old to become an apprentice.
Newly appointed warriors will keep a silent vigil for one night after receiving their warrior name.
A cat cannot be made deputy without having mentored at least one apprentice.
The deputy will become Clan leader when the leader dies, retires, or is exiled.
After the death or retirement of the deputy, the new deputy must be chosen before moonhigh.
A Gathering is held at the full moon during a truce that lasts for the night. There shall be no fighting among the Clans at this time.
Boundaries must be checked and marked daily. Challenge all trespassing cats.
No warrior can neglect a kit in pain or danger, even if the kit is from a different Clan.
The word of the Clan leader is the warrior code.
An honorable warrior does not need to kill other cats to win their battles, unless they are outside the warrior code or if it is necessary for self-defense.
A warrior rejects the soft life of a kittypet.
Each Clan has the right to be proud and independent, but in times of trouble they must forget their boundaries and fight side by side. Each Clan must help the others so that no Clan will fall.

Herbs:

Borage Leaves - To be chewed and eaten. This plant can be distinguished by its small blue or pink star-shaped flowers and hairy leaves. Great for nursing queens as it helps increase their supply of milk. Also brings down fevers.
Burdock Root - A tall-stemmed, sharp smelling thistle with dark leaves. A medicine cat must dig up the roots, wash off the dirt, and chew them into a pulp, which can be applied to rat bites. Cures infection.
Catmint - A delicious-smelling, leafy plant that's hard to find in the wild; often found growing in Twoleg gardens. The best remedy for greencough.
Chervil - A sweet-smelling plant with large, spreading fern-like leaves and small white flowers. The juice of the leaves can be used for infected wounds and chewing the root helps with bellyache.
Cobweb - Spiderwebs can be found all over the forest; be careful not to bring along the spider when you take the web! Medicine cats wrap it around an injury to soak up blood and keep the wound clean.
Coltsfoot - A flowering plant, a bit like a dandelion, with yellow or white flowers. The leaves can be chewed into a pulp, which is eaten to help shortness of breath.
Comfrey - Identifiable by its large leaves and small bell-shaped flowers, which can be pink, white, or purple. The fat black roots of this plant can be chewed into a poultice to mend broken bones or soothe wounds.
Dock - A plant similar to sorrel. The leaf can be chewed up and applied to soothe scratches.
Dried Oak Leaf - Collected in leaf-fall and stored in a dry place. Stops infections.
Feverfew - A small bush with flowers like daisies. The leaves can be eaten to cool down body temperature, particularly for cats with fever or chills.
Goldenrod - A tall plant, with bright yellow flowers. A poultice of this is terrific for healing wounds.
Honey - A sweet, golden liquid created by bees. Difficult to collect without getting stung, but great for soothing infections or the throats of cats who have breathed smoke.
Horsetail - A tall plant with bristly stems that grows in marshy areas. The leaves can be used to treat infected wounds. Usually chewed up and applied as a poultice.
Juniper Berries - A bush with spiky dark green leaves and purple berries. The berries soothe bellyaches and help cats who are having trouble breathing.
Lavender - A small purple flowering plant that cures fever.
Marigold - A bright orange or yellow flower that grows low to the ground. The petals or leaves can be chewed into a pulp and applied as a poultice to wounds. Stops infection.
Mouse Bile - A bad-smelling liquid that is the only remedy for ticks. Dab a little moss soaked in bile on a tick and it'll fall right off. Wash paws thoroughly in running water afterward.
Poppy Seeds - Small black seeds shaken from a dried poppy flower, these are fed to cats to help them sleep. Soothes cats suffering from shock or distress. Not recommended for nursing queens.
Stinging Nettle - The spiny green seeds can be administered to a cat who's swallowed poison, while the leaves can be applied to a wound to bring down swelling. Soak thoroughly first to take away the sting.
Tansy - A strong-smelling plant with round yellow flowers. Good for curing coughs, but must be eaten in small doses.
Thyme - This herb can be eaten to calm anxiety and frayed nerves.
Watermint - A leafy green plant found in streams or damp earth. Usually chewed into a pulp and then fed to a cat suffering bellyache.
Wild Garlic - Rolling in a patch of wild garlic can help prevent infection, especially for dangerous wounds like rat bites.
Yarrow - A flowering plant whose leaves can be made into a poultice and applied to wounds or scratches. Also eaten to cause vomiting in order to expel poison.
Deathberries - Red berries that can be fatally poisonous to kits and elders. They are NOT a medicine. Only used to mercifully kill a cat who will die a slow, painful death with no possible cure.

Battle Moves:

Back Kick - Explosive surprise move to catch opponent from behind. Judge opponent's distance from you carefully, then lash out with your back legs, taking all weight on your front paws.
Belly Rake - A fight-stopper. Slice with unsheathed claws against the soft flesh of the opponent's belly. If you're pinned down, the belly rake quickly puts you back in control.
Front Paw Blow - Frontal attack. Bring your front paw down hard on your opponent's head. Claws sheathed.
Front Paw Strike/Forepaw Slash - Frontal attack. Slice downward with your front paw at the face or body of your opponent, claws unsheathed.
Killing Bite - A death blow to the back of the neck. Quick and silent and sometimes considered dishonorable. Used only as a last resort.
Leap-and-Hold - Ideal for a small cat facing a larger opponent. Spring onto opponent's back and grip with unsheathed claws. Now you are beyond the range of the opponent's paws and in a good position to inflict severe body wounds. A group of apprentices can defeat a large and dangerous warrior in this way. Watch for the drop-and-roll counter move, and try to jump free before you get squashed.
Partner Fighting - Warriors who have trained or fought together will often fall instinctively into a defensive position, each protecting each other's back while fending off an opponent on either side. Slashing, clawing, and leaping together, battle pairs can be a whirlwind of danger for attackers.
Play Dead - Effective in a tight situation, such as when you are pinned. Stop struggling and go limp. When your opponent relaxes their grip, thinking you are defeated, push yourself up explosively. This will throw off an unwary opponent and put you in attacking position.
Scruff Shake - Secure a strong teeth grip in the scruff of your opponent's neck, then shake violently until they are too rattled to fight back. Most effective against rats, who are small enough to throw. A strong throw will stun or kill them.
Tail Yank - Grab your opponent's tail and yank it with such force your opponent is thrown off balance.
Teeth Grip - Target your opponent's extremities - the legs, tail, scruff, or ears - and sink in your teeth and hold. This move is similar to the leap-and-hold except your claws remain free to fight.
Upright Lock - Final, crushing move on already weakened opponent. Rear up on back legs and bring weight down on opponent. If opponent does the same, wrestle and flip them under you. This makes you vulnerable to the belly rake, so it takes great strength and speed.
Half-Turn Belly Rake - Turn onto your side, slip under the opponent's belly, rake it with your claws, then swiftly turn back onto all fours out from under your opponent.
Badger Defense - Leap over opponent, turn on your back and bite opponent's leg. Only used when fighting badgers.
Duck and Twist - Simple defensive move. The cat ducks then twists around, rolling onto their back, and then springs to their paws.
Jump and Pin - Complicated move used in enclosed spaces. Leap backwards, bounce off the wall. With precise accuracy, land on the cat.

Minnowstar || Camp || Open

Minnowstar sat outside of her den, grooming her long pelt until it shone in the afternoon sunshine. A warm breeze ruffled her whiskers - newleaf was finally here. She let out a sigh of relief, grateful that the brutal cold that had caused hunger and devastation for her Clan had finally ended. Many cats had been lost during that leafbare - Minnowstar shivered at the thought of watching her leader, Scarletstar, fade away, losing life after life to the great hunger. Scarletstar had been a relatively young leader, and Minnowstar feared she wasn't ready to take the place of her predecessor. She could still feel her own ribs through her pelt as she groomed herself.

Ripplestone || The Elder Woods || Open

Ripplestone stalked quietly through the Elder Woods, following the scent trail of squirrel. He watched the fluffy gray tail flicker through the undergrowth just a few tail lengths ahead of him. Dropping into a crouch, he slowly crept up on his catch. This was the fattest piece of prey he had seen in a long time. He felt his own stomach grumble at the thought, but knew he had to return the prey to the fresh-kill pile. His Clanmates were still thin after the great hunger, and it was his responsibility to feed them. His heart ached as he thought of his own parents, who both passed away during the hunger.

Grasspaw and Snailpaw || Camp || Open

Grasspaw and Snailpaw wrestled outside of the apprentices' den, growling and hissing at each other as they fought to pin each other to the ground. With a yowl of triumph, Grasspaw finally managed to push her sister down with one paw on her throat and the other on her chest. "Ha! I win!" She crowed.

Snailpaw hissed and struggled beneath her sister. "Get off me, you great lump!" She cried, kicking her sister off and getting to her paws, shaking dust from her pelt.

Littlewolf || Camp || Open

Littlewolf pawed through the meager fresh-kill pile, growling in annoyance at the lack of decent looking food. He glanced toward the entrance, knowing that hunters were out. He glanced toward the elders' den, knowing his father, Rowanbranch, would be hungry. Rowanbranch had hardly slept or eaten since the death of his mate, and Littlewolf's mother, just as the great hunger was coming to an end. The return of prey and warmth to the forest had been too late to save Webwhisker, though. She died of greencough just as the first thaw loosened leafbare's grip on the forest. He sighed and picked up a skinny blackbird, knowing this would have to be enough for Rowanbranch for now.

Seednose lay curled in her nest, a cough shaking her body. She was recovering from the greencough outbreak that had taken her mother and so many other Clanmates, but she was still a bit too weak yet to go hunting. She felt a warm breeze coming through the entrance to the den and couldn't help but let out a soft purr that at least the good weather had returned.

Rowanbranch sat in his nest, staring blankly at the wall of the den. The den felt empty since the passing of so many Clanmates - Webwhisker, his mate, as well as his brothers and sister, had all been lost during the past leafbare. He sighed. Oh StarClan, why did you leave me, but you took almost everyone I loved? He thought. He glanced toward the den entrance, spotting a glimpse of his son digging through the fresh-kill pile. At least my kits survived. Oh Webwhisker, I hope you're as proud of them as I am.
