Who do you think will pass first? Jayfeather implied he has a long life ahead of him. However, Alderheart is still young. What do you think they'll die of? I think Jayfeather, if he lives past Alderheart, will die of old age. Alderheart will go out Feathertail style.

I'd say Alderheart would live longer only because Jayfeather is older. But knowing how Warriors isn't afraid to kill off young medicine cats (Rip Willowshine I loved your design and sweetness) I wouldn't be shocked if Alderheart was the first to go. I could imagine Jayfeather living longer like he's "cursed" or something, almost like they could try to make him a cat like Rock or Goosefeather, yknow? And he just doesn't end up dying, or slowly becomes deluded over time.

Tbh I can’t imagine the Erins (with their heavy attachment to the characters from earlier in the series) ever having the guts to kill off Jayfeather. Doubly so because he’s a fan favourite. I wouldn’t even be surprised if he outlives Alderheart, or if the series ends for good before he dies.

I think they will have Jayfeather retire to the elder's den if they're afraid of killing him off or have him die in some noble plot-relevant way at some point. Alderheart is younger and only in rare cases like Flametail has the medicine cat apprentice died before their mentor.

Realistically Jayfeather, but knowing the Erins it'll probably be Alderheart

I think the best way is Jayfeather dying before his cousin. I also have a feeling that it might happen in ASC. The authors have to at least try to kill off all older characters, so new ones can cary the series. I know its not gonna be the same, but look at DOTC, its literally with ancient cats (who happen to have more personality then the modern ones) but still holds a place for us. Arc 9 should kickstart a completely new generation of cats and leaders, or continue DOTC. The modern timeline is kinda over

The modern era is where the cash cow is, so they’ll just keep writing modern because more people will buy it.

I would say Jayfeather, but...

Hopefully Alderheart but (glances at Willowshine and Flametail) hard to say. I really can’t see Jayfeather taking on another apprentice, this time solo, so hopefully he passes first as much as I love him.

Jayfeather is older, so it makes sense that he would die before Alderheart.
Realistically though, I feel like Jayfeather is the type who will live forever just out of spite, and I also think the authors would have a harder time killing him over killing Alderheart. So I do think Jayfeather is more likely to live longer - even if he shouldn't.

I think he’s more likely to retire and become an (even grouchier) elder, but it’ll be a while before they even think of that, probably.

putting my jayfeather bias aside, i hope jayfeather dies first (and soon...all cats from the first 3 arcs need to start dying off).

Hopefully Jayfeather. I don't want my boy Alderheart to die so young

Ideally, I want Jayfeather to die first.
1. I can't imagine him mentoring an apprentice on his own. Leafpool being there to soften his blows was really helpful for Alderheart
2. I don't want another Willowshine situation.

Alderheart. Jayfeather was not only implied to have a long life ahead of him but is also a character the writing team has an attachment to on top of him being a fan favorite. Alderheart is liked among most readers but does not have the same status both in the series or fandom.

True, but Leafpool was also old- a cat from the second arc, and she only died 7-8 arcs later? Her sister and her sister's mate are still alive. In fact, Bramblestar is a first arc cat. Mistystar (while we hope she's gonna die) is even older than Bramblestar. And only recently did we finally have Graystripe die. So in the minds of the editors it's likely Jayfeather isn't determined old. Plus they'll kill off as many "expendable" cats for as long as possible, such as Berrynose, just to say they are killing cats, while leaving the really old ones alive for no good reason aside from fandom/personal attachment.
