From the River excerpt we learn that Flamepaw thinks the clans should switch leaders often, what do you think on his idea? It be a very new change for warriors but It also makes me wonder what other ideas Flamepaw has that are different from the normal Clan politics ideas. I wonder how the clans will be changed by the end of the arc. I wonder if this is because of what Thornclaw had said though, about Firekin nepotism. Anyway, I'm exited to find out in River.

Watch the end of the arc make the clans into a democracy with term limits and an election lmao
But my biggest issue with it is having 9 lives. How would that work? Im assuming they'd pull a Rowanstar and return their lives. If a leader lost lives during their reign, would the next leader have less lives? How many times can someone become leader/deputy? If the terms are reasonably shorter than a typical 9 lives leader, could a clan possibly run out of leader options without repetition?
I feel like the biggest twist they could do with this concept would be getting rid of 9 lives altogether. I mean the arc is called A Starless Clan - what if they just stopped getting lives

I hope it doesn't happen. The nine lives thing is really cool lore for me and I wouldn't like seeing it be scrapped.

I hope this doesn't actually happen and either just stays an idea in Flamepaw's head or only gets explored briefly as an option by the Clans during the new arc before ultimately getting scrapped. Nine lives are a great concept after all and I would hate to see it go away.

I'd be curious to see how his idea would be integrated however, I know the Fandom has an attachment to the 9 lives idea. Honestly if they were to do this at all, I'd like it to be done with DEPUTIES not LEADERS.
Deputies may have 2+ contenders (imagine Bluefur and Thistleclaw) and the clan votes for who they want instead of both cats trying to raise an apprentice the fastest which does nothing if neither is genuinely making an attempt to train them, just to meet the qualifications.
If this is why they got rid of the deputies have to train an apprentice rule then I'd understand but I feel the extra experience still should be highly recommended. It's like rising up in government ranks.
So yea let it be for deputies (hopefully around the time when a leader is close to dying and losing their last life) and then boom, the cats of the clan have a dep-lection

Although I agree that Flamepaw's idea could be used on deputies, a part of me still hopes this will either just stay in his mind or be a failed concept getting explored in one plotline but ultimately not being integrated into modern Clan culture.

Considering how the series is known heavily for "status quo is god" (when it wants to anyway) it wouldn't shock me in the slightest. The Broken Code was entirely marketed as Warrior Code Changes and very little if not anything came of it
