i like the idea of getting rid of 9 lives and giving cats term limits like irl presidents. i'm not sure how they'd measure this without multiple lives, but i'm sure they can come up with a moon count or season count and say "this is how long cats can be leader before we have to vote for a new one."
like if a cat is voted as leader, they get to chose a qualified cat as deputy. or do it like irl campaigns where cats get nominated by their clanmates and get approved by starclan before the vote for new leader and deputy happen (cats would vote for a leader and deputy pair just like irl elections).
idk if this will ever be discussed further in ASC, but i liked the idea of it and thought i'd make a thread for the whole idea

this is a disastrous idea lol
political and spiritual stability is important in the type of society structure in the clans. thats why the leaders were given nine lives -- so that their clans could enjoy the peace and security of the same leadership style for multiples lives, as opposed to switching everything up with the turmoil of new leadership every few seasons. political upheaval makes a group vulnerable through civil unrest, potential infighting through political competition, and the instability of transition. adding the stress of what is essentially elections and campaigning is totally unnecessary for their culture.
moreover, although i agree with the suggested change to depose a leader in extreme circumstances (w/ StarClan's approval), frequently swapping out leaders and encouraging fighting over potential leadership ultimately leads to a lack of respect for the current leaders' power and position. it establishes a recurring precedent of potentially booting a leader for rather superficial reasons; this means a leader is constantly fighting to keep their position, shifting attention to appeasing public opinion rather than what is genuinely best for the clan (which definitely dont always overlap).
theres just not a good reason to introduce all that political turmoil on a regular basis. there's very little to gain. if a cat is a bad tyrannical leader, then the answer is straight deposition (which is already being considered), and it doesnt happen nearly often enough to warrant term limits.

Not to mention 80% of the cats in ThunderClan are way too quick to resolve conflict with bloodshed, and are all-around terrible leaders.

It's an interesting idea but I prefer the nine lives, as it fits into popular cat myths irl and the spirituality is cool in Warriors.

I wonder if they will bring back the Anicents flashbacks. I think they had a voting system, but it’s been a while since I’ve read Power of Three.

I'm just really excited for the new changes in general. The clans really need to work on getting rid of the hypocrisy especially in terms of the afterlife system. It obviously needs work especially in terms of cats getting sent to the wrong afterlife (Ashfur and Juniperclaw) and StarClan ignoring the facts that cats can change and mature after death (Snowtuft, Silverhawk, Sparrowfeather, Redwillow). The trial system obviously needs to go, or at least changed with every cat being given the chance to defend themselves like Leafpool and Squirrelflight. In my opinion they should send every new arrival ,unless they are completely irredeemable, (Brokenstar) to the StarClan/Dark Forest border to serve time as border guardians and prove that they are deserving of StarClan. Overall I can't wait to see the new changes to the warrior cat culture. I hope one day we will have a spin off series about the Warrior cat world afterlife. I just find that area of Warriors fascinating.

The main way I could see this working would be if Warriors ditched the code about "leader's word is law" in order to allow cats to cast stones and see if they decide to go with what the leader says and the majority rules. Or if they have sorta a senate or group of elite cats in each clan (deputy included in that small group) that kinda talk about the leader's idea and decide if the clan will follow through with the plan, and vise versa the leader can decide to listen to the "senate's" ideas on what to do as well. A bi-leadership system
