As of the River excerpt, more specifically Sunbeam's first chapter (third in the excerpt and book), what do you think about Lightleap, her character development and friendship with Sunbeam?
For me, while I think her wanting to prove herself as brave after what happened in ALitM is understandable, taking so many risks and even making Sunbeam lie about what really happened once she got hurt by one of her stunts is just very shitty. Their friendship is nice to see and all since protagonists have not been shown to have proper friends in a bit but the current dynamic is rather concerning seeing how uncomfortable it makes Sunbeam feel to lie about how she got injured. Granted, this is only a small scene from one chapter of the very first book in this new arc so who knows at this point how things will go from there.

I think what they did with Lightleap is very unique and interesting. I don't think she's a good friend, but I hope she can properly apologize an grow in this arc. I want her to focus on getting better and letting go what happened in ALitM, that be really cool.

I hope more than anything she's awful and stays that way. Not like murder kittens awful, but just selfish.

I hope her friendship with Sunbeam is a long-term thing and where Lightleap realizes her mistakes in the past and learns to become a real friend to Sunbeam throughout the course of the arc, while Sunbeam helps her through learning to let go and move on, I feel like this is a chance to build a true and real friendship between two characters, friendships have ups and downs and evolve. I hope that she and Sunbeam are actual friends by the end of the arc and not enemies

I honestly like what they're doing with Lightleap. I've been wanting some more spotlight for Lightleap and Pouncestep, and I was hoping we'd see more of them through Sunbeam's POV. The fact that Lightleap and Sunbeam are actually friends is a dream come true for me but yeaaaah, Lightleap was not a good friend in this chapter lol. Despite that, I'm still enjoying her. I thought what happened with her in ALITM was just a simple excuse to have Shadowsight be there for the final confrontation with Ashfur and nothing more, but I'm surprised and pleased that they're actually sticking to it and using it for her character.
I can't wait to see more Lightleap!

At first, I was a bit taken aback, because it's so different from how she usually is, but considering what happened, it makes sense. She feels like a failure, like she let everyone down, and she's trying to "prove" herself. Just a young character going through some turmoil, I hope she's able to see the light again, and go back to being her normally bright self, but I am interested in seeing where the story takes her. My only complaint is that Pouncestep, forever the forgettable sister, is still on the backburner, but there has only bee on chapter in ShadowClan, so she could still get her character developed as well.

I kind of hope her recklessness gets her killed so one of the TigerXDove kits can be dead or at the very least badly injure someone or herself to make her realize she should stop being reckless. Bonus for it being my least favorite daughter of their litter. Plus with Lightleap dead, Pouncestep will likely gain some level of relevance. I wonder if Frostpaw will also share a sibling that gains no attention vs. one that will, since unless all siblings are protagonists. They tend to leave one sibling out of focus.

she's clearly trying to cope with self-destructive tendencies, which is both realistic and more interesting that what they typically do.

Lightleap has to be a very realistic character, atleast from what i've seen. Her recklesness boils down to trying to cope with her own insecurities. I don't like how she tells Sunbeam to lie, but i don't dislike her character because i find her very interesting.

Honestly, she's worst than when Ivypool was an apprentice. She shit talks her sister, is absolutely reckless, gets her friends hurt, and makes them lie about it, while also being ungrateful and more concerned about how she looked to others. I don't find her likable, or relatable, she's just a jerk? And I cringed when Sunbeam still regarded her as a friend, even after Lightleap ditched her in the medicine cat den. I don't see their relationship improving either, considering Shadowsight might speak to Tigerstar about what happened, and I'll bet a nickle that Lightleap gets angry and blames Sunbeam, in typical fashion.

I really hope to see some conflict between Sunbeam and Lightleap that comes out of this, it'll be interesting too see and I want to know how Lightleap reacts when Shadowsight inevitably confronts her about it.

I just love her character. I just love Oakstar's family with the exception of maybe Alderheart all of the members are such complex, morally questionable characters and I just love it.

I like flawed characters who, even despite of redemption, stay rough around the edges. Even if she is confronted and she realizes the error of her ways, I still want her to be a bit reckless and selfish especially with relationships. She's like that toxic friend that no one can kick out of the friend group because it would be like kicking a sad puppy. When she asked Sunbeam to lie and straight up abandoned her in the medicine cat den, I was so entertained. This self-serving, foolhardy character is so much interesting than another basic "nice" background character.

In 99% of cases, being memorable is better than being forgettable. This is one of those cases.

I love that she's getting some spotlight! A bit odd that she didn't last arc when her brother was a main protagonist but hey, better late than never. She's not a very good friend but at least she has an interesting personality. I don't hate her yet but she's not very likable. I hope she grows and becomes a better person and friend to Sunbeam.

I'm happy with what they're doing with her, it's very different but also realistic. She feels like a failure, and so she feels like she has to prove herself to her clanmates. I'm very excited to see what other reckless acts she'll do and how that'll affect her friendship with Sunbeam and her relationship with her clanmates.
