Basically, I was thinking about Gorsetail of WC and Rushtail of RC and decided to make this thread.
First off, Gorsetail. A tom with a tawny paw named Gorsetail debuts (and only appears in) Dawn. He was one of the cats who was captured by the Twolegs during the destruction of the forest. We meet the gray-and-white she-cat Gorsetail in The Sight (she first appeared in the allegiances of Dark River, but the wiki does state that was in The Sight alongside one her kits, Sedgekit, at one point). Based on the fact that was already a queen with kits in The Sight, this means that she was already alive in Dawn. There's also the fact that Gorsetail has been mistakenly listed/stated as a tom multiple times throughout the series, a trait that Sedgewhisker carries. In fact, Whistlepaw was called a tom at one point as well. But putting all that aside, I can't help but wonder if the two Gorsetail's are the same cat. Maybe OC will give us an answer, but I doubt it.
The second cat I want to mention is Rushtail, a RC apprentice from OOTS. When Battles of the Clans came out, there was a story of Mistystar training four apprentices. One of these apprentices was named Rushpaw. Considering that this field guide was realized before Night Whispers it means that Mistystar was a new leader at the time. So it really does make you wonder if Rushpaw and Rushtail are one and the same as their timeline would match up.

I assume that the two Gorsetails are the same cat. I have no proof of this, but it just makes the most sense to me so I run with it.

Gorsetail from POT was called a tom in the allegiances of OOTS, minus Night Whispers. I don't know if they fixed this in the reprinted versions.

This makes me headcanon Gorsetail as a trans she-cat with vitiligo which explains the colour change (all we know is original design had a tawny paw, which could have fully gone white by the Sight. The story I've sketched up is that after escaping the Twoleg van, she was injured and so went back with Mistyfoot to RiverClan. There she developed an appreciation of the rival Clan before returning to her own, including an apparentice named Beechpaw who she hangs out with a lot during the Great Journey. I also headcanon them as closer in age, with Gorsetail having just been made a warrior before being captured and Leafpool just guessing Beechpaw was a "young apprentice" in Twilight since he was underfed growing up, and also very sick. She continued seeing him in the Lake territories and eventually had his kits (I don't care how this happened specifically, warriors has a tenuous grasp at biology anyways). I'd like to think they stayed coparents until Beechfur died during the drought in The Fourth Apprentice (his last appearance), which is why Sedgewhisker, his daughter, chooses to go on the mission to find the beavers. This could also explain why Sedgewhisker was so mad at Dovepaw visiting her during Fading Echoes, as she might have already faced accusations of loyalty to other Clans due to her blood.
