This was originally a poll, but it didn't get much interaction. Fortunately, some people in a different group were interested and we ended up setting up a four-Clan roleplay in Discord. You can check out the server here. (please let me know if the invite link isn't working, that's my least favorite part of Discord lol)
The roleplay is designed to give a balance between progressing the storyline and expending the energy required to actually roleplay. If you like to play-by-post a lot, there will be people there for casual scenes; if you prefer to just have an idea of the minutia and only really play out important scenes, that's fine too! If you don't have time to actually ROLEPLAY for a little while, you can keep your character relevant with out-of-character plotting and negotiation that don't require you to play-by-post if you don't have the time and energy, which should help keep the roleplay moving even when people get busy, and reduce burnout.
The four Clans are:
MarshClan lives in the marshy lowlands between the other three Clans' territories. MarshClan is known for its pride and a strict adherence to tradition, rarely agreeing to change their habits, and even more rarely accepting help from other Clans or outsiders. The recent development of the field north of them, which is now shared by MeadowClan and MoonClan, has entirely closed off MarshClan's territory from the outside, trapping them between the other Clans. This has led to a number of problems for the Clan in recent seasons, which has in turn led to some measure of internal conflict. Physically, MarshClan is made up of dark-colored, sleek-furred cats with proportionally long bodies and short legs that help distribute their weight over the soggy ground and streamline them in the water. Cats are almost exclusively solid-colored and without markings, although their underbellies might be slightly lighter in color and they may have small paler markings.
MossClan lives in the hilly, dense forest south of the marsh. They are known for being secretive and isolated from the other Clans. They tend to be stand-offish at Gatherings and will exchange few words at the borders, preferring to avoid other Clans' patrols entirely or chase them off with claws. Within their own Clan, members are extremely tight-knit, as would be expected when the reject almost all outside company. Because of their relative isolation, MossClan has developed a very specific appearance that is highly developed for their specific environment: nearly all cats in the Clan display a very similar brown or gray-brown tabby pelt, with small bodies and long tails meant for climbing. Although markings, eye color, fur length, and other subtle features of their appearance can be used to distinguish members up close, the Clan mostly uses its incredibly strong sense of smell to identify its members at a distance, and MossClan cats may seem almost indistinguishable from one another from the outside.
MoonClan lives on the open moor northwest of the marsh. Being in the highlands and preferring to sleep directly underneath the open sky has afforded MoonClan a greater closeness to StarClan: its members are more likely to get visions and omens from their ancestors, and these signs tend to be clearer than what other cats might receive. This closeness, though, means MoonClan cats also tend to adhere far more strictly to the warrior code, and rely far more heavily than other Clans on guidance from their ancestors before taking action. MoonClan cats tend to be very large and long-legged, affording them greater strength and speed to take down rabbits, as well as avoid being carried off by birds of prey. They are often tabby or speckled in light or medium-colored ginger, gray, brown, cream, or white, and are rarely very dark colors. They may have white markings or be bi-color as long as their darker color is still on the mid-to-light end of the spectrum. They may also have slightly darker markings, as long as their overall pelt remains fairly light in color.
MeadowClan lives on the farmland northeast of the marsh, primarily hunting in the pastures and cultivated fields. While they do tend to steer clear of the areas where twolegs are most active, such as the farmhouse and barn, they are still often looked down on by the other Clans for being less "wild." It's true that they do tend to be the most friendly towards outsiders, as they have to coexist with the kittypets and barn cats that live near their territory, and of any Clan they are the most likely to allow outsiders to join their Clan. For this reason, MeadowClan cats have the most diverse range of physical traits of any of the Clans, and are more likely to come in bright or "fancy" colors and have breed-specific traits such as rosette patterning or flopped ears. Their personalities also tend to be more diverse: although the Clan is friendly and adaptable, it is still fairly young, and this plus the frequent influence of foreign insight, skills, and viewpoints means they have yet to establish a consistent "identity" for themselves.
