I voted for Blackstar but still dislike him in general, except as a kit and apprentice since he was harmless back then and had a good relationship with his littermates Flintfang and Fernshade. I also did feel bad for what was revealed about his parentage in his own novella. But I'm unable to ever truly forgive him (and Leopardstar) for what happened during the bonehill situation with Stonefur. He certainly became interesting as a leader though and had some insightful scenes in the other arcs. But I always had the scene of him killing Stonefur playing out in front of my eyes whenever Blackstar got mentioned in the books following TDH (especially when Mistystar got shown anywhere near him) and will continue to remember it.

I've never cared for him one way or another, but I guess I'll go with Blackpaw.

Blackstar is way more interesting than his warrior counterpart. Blackfoot was sort of a mindless brute who fell in line with whatever powerful figure ruled in his vicinity, lacking much sense of responsibility/repercussion. But after Tigerstar died, he was left with no such tyrant to blindly follow, and had to really think for himself for the first time and take on the brains needed to be a leader. So I'd argue he didn't really come into his own potential until he became ShadowClan's leader, even if how he got there wasn't good.

Blackstar as he finally had a personality of his own then. Before he was a background character, then following Tigerstar blindly, then finally developing the character he needed for being a leader.

Blackfoot. He was a mindless follower, but he always felt so tough and intimidating. And while I like Blackstar enough in TNP, I don't like some of his decisions in PoT and OoTS.

Blackstar. I appreciate him coming to realize what his mindless loyalty had done and how him, an otherwise honorable cat, could do such atrocities. And then he made up for it. Shadowclan became strong and healthy under him. And while he still had aspects of being kind of dumb (Sol), it just makes him a more interesting character...and consistent.
Blackstar is dumb but he's a good leader who loves his clan.
