I think he is a very nice cat that i prefer over all other medicine cats, because he's relatable and not as serious as the other medicine cats. He seems to be a great friend.
Sadly there was a lack of interaction between him and Bristlefrost during the first 4 books. I like how he has a positive relationship with one of Ivy‘s kits because both their mothers aren’t in a very good relationship.
Sadly he won’t be able to thank Bris for saving him and he blames himself for her death. But this makes him more relatable for me. He’s a good cat and i hope to see more of him in the next arc.

He's a very unique and interesting protagonist, and I can see why a lot of people like him. I like him, but not as much as the other protagonist in TBC. Shadowsight is still an excellent character though.

I wish he had more character traits than “bad things are happening to me”, it got old really quickly. But I think he's okay, I do really like his relationship with his family and with Puddleshine.

I like Shadowsight and greatly sympathize with him for being everyone's (especially Ashfur's) favorite punching bag in TBC but think he got shoved to the side a bit when the RootBristle ship was focused on and he was left getting bullied by his Clanmates in his PoV and stuck with Ashfur (though the latter made him have some well done interactions and an interesting connection with the "dark warrior" in Darkness Within and later A Light in the Mist).

Very interesting and relatable character(to me at least); I adore him and his arc. He's my favorite TBC protag and one of my favorite characters overall.

My least favorite out of the three TBC protags, but I still like him and feel sorry for all he's gone through.

Probably my least favorite POV out of the three.
His character arc was too similar to Rootspring, but more poorly executed.
Both of them had daddy issues, with powers that got into the way of their life, and made them outsiders among their clan, etc.
Personally, I'd rather have him stay dead after Ashfur threw him into a ravine, that honestly should have killed him, and then make his POV a StarClan perspective that communicates with the other two protagonists.
I became more annoyed every time he had a near-death situation and miraculously lived because of his plot armor, next to the fact that he was practically everyone's punching back. I disliked the "I'm being treated horribly, it's not fair" mentality he had, and how much he victimized himself against everyone else the moment he got a nick of criticism. The fact that he also helped Ashfur escape while also being aware that he's untrustworthy and fooled him already previously (and tried to kill him) also annoyed me. Ashfur's character quite literally carried him through an entire book alone, a book in which he wasn't doing anything really interesting plot-wise thanks to Squirrelflight soaking up the spotlight.
The only time I genuinely found Shadowsight likable was when he finally stood up against his parents and wanted to be honest with his clanmates. It makes him less of a coward than the likes of Tigerheart and Dovewing imo. But unfortunately, his parents only served to put him in deeper trouble when he was caught by Lionblaze and the other leaders at the time trying to escape.
There wasn't any real union between Shadowsight and the other two protagonists either. He only met and talked with Rootspring like once? Or twice at most, and that's it, and I'm pretty sure that was way earlier in this series and easily forgettable. Pretty much the same situation with Bristlefrost, but worse, there were just no interactions there, but the story treated them like lifelong friends so far that knew one another well throughout the series, but they didn't. The only two that had proper interactions and development relationship-wise at that point were Bristlefrost and Rootspring only.
When it comes to his family situation, I wasn't fond of it either. Lightleap and Pouncestep had little to no scenes at all, compared to the other protagonist siblings like Needleclaw, Thriftear, and Flipclaw. Lightleap almost got some significance in the plot, but that was shoved away, again, in favor of Shadowsight. It was frustrating to see how generic Lightleap and Poucestep were, or how they had no personality at all. On the other hand, Shadowsight's relationship with Tigerheart was annoying too, I know some may see it as sweet, but his overbearing helicopter behavior was just suppressing Shadowsight's growth as a character. And the scene where Dove and Tiger try to get him to lie to his clanmates and force him to leave into hiding, just shows how cowardly they are. They may mean well, but they're not good parents. I still can't understand why Tigerheart thought it was perfectly fine to make his son take care of the guy that tried to murder him??
I felt like the series only started to make Shadowsight more interesting later in the last two books. Because outside of that he didn't have much to him, even his involvement with Ashfur was on and off. And you could easily get the same, if not better tension, from Ashfur's interactions with Bristlefrost. His story arc just didn't feel as engaging as the other two protagonists, at least to me it didn't, and honestly, his chapters were borderline skippable in the first 4 books.
I think the only good thing that came out of his character, besides his improved relationships with Mothwing, was the fact that he lost his ability to talk to StarClan. But considering how butchered StarClan is now, I think that's more of a blessing than a punishment.
