The Wanderers
Introduction
The Wanderers are a seasonally nomadic clan of cats who live in the far reaches of the north. During the times of Melting Moons (Spring) and Warm Moons (Summer) they stay in their Mother Tree, a camp set into the roots and upon the boughs of an ancient tree. However during the time of Fading Moons (Fall) and Endless Moons (Winter) they stay in their camp to the north in the mountains, where a hot spring keeps their underground tunnels warm.
They are a proud and devout group of cats, who always watch the heavens for omens. And are very faithful to Those Who Have Risen or The Ancestors as they are more often called. Still they are wary of the spirits of the land and do their best to avoid offending them.
What makes the Wanderers so different from their more southern cousins however is their innovation. The wanderers are very skilled crafters and preserve food in a variety of ways for the coldest moons, they even know how to start fires and tend to them.
Landmarks
The Mother Tree-- A stout, gnarled tree that has seemingly been hallowed out by claws into a staircase of sorts. At the base two stones frame the entrance of the camp which leads into the shallow basin beneath the tree's roots. Within three tunnels reside, one leading to the healer's den, one leading to the sentinel/Scout's den, and the last being the shepherd's den. Atop the tree is the sunning spot, The Givers nest, The council's nest, the novices nest, and The guides hallow.
The Father Tunnels-- A warren of tunnels which nestles directly around the stone walls of several hot springs. Unlike the mother tree, there are only four dens. The first is shared by the scouts, sentinels, and novices. the second is shared by the council and givers. while the third is shared by the healers, shepherds, and guide. The last is where all the dried food is stored.

Roles
-- Guide --
Guides are the sacred leaders of the wanderers and Guide the clan through times of trouble and on the pilgrimage from The Mother Tree to The Father Tunnels, as well as back again. In their hearts they care the divine light of the sky and in times of need can use it to light the way. They are one of the few cats who can speak directly with the ancestors and as such are considered a holy guide for their religion as well.
-- Shepards --
Acting as Second in command to the guide, these cats are trained by the guide and are set to inherit the role. However only one may take their former guides place. This is decided by the elders of the clan when the guide perishes or retires. If the elders can't decide between two or more then the trials begin, an ancient tradition that tests the candidates for strength, skill, and smarts.
-- Sentinels --
These cats are the guardians and muscle of the clan, they protect hunting parties, patrol the clans current camp, and defend tirelessly throughout the pilgrimage. Together they often help scouts take down large prey.
-- Scouts --
These cats act as the eyes and ears of the clan, they are the primary trackers and hunters, though they may entice the help of Sentinels with large prey. During pilgrimages they often scout ahead for any dangers or changing terrain.
-- Keepers --
These cats are the crafters of the clan and rarely leave camp. They are carvers, weavers, and cooks. Together the maintain the camp, dry food for the winter, and keep the stories of the clan alive by carving them into the mother tree. They also often take care of kits when their parents are gone.
-- Healers --
These cats gather herbs, tend to the sick and injured, and are the only other cats who may commune with those who have risen. They have delicate senses when it comes to the world and can occasionally sense danger before it arrives. They are most often the ones to receive messages and omens though they leave the final interpretation up to the guide.
-- The Council --
Otherwise known as Elders, the council plays an important role within the clan by deciding which of the Shepards is fit to take on the role of Guide. They also act as the guides advisors and if asked by the healers or Shepards, can vote to demote a guide. This is an extremely rare occurrence.
-- Novices --
These young cats are trained by keepers, scouts, and sentinels equally up until the end of their third moon, which is when they must decide what role to train in fully. Their first moon is spent with Keepers, second with sentinels, and third with scouts. After which they must proclaim their choice before the clan at a meeting called by the guide for that very purpose. They must of course have spoken to their guide first and explained their choice. If a novice is intended to become a Healer then a sign or vision will be sent to the healers.
-- Givers --
These cats are set to give birth and can no longer preform their duties properly, thus they retire to the Givers nest. They are seen as gift-givers for bringing life to the clan and are often cherished deeply, almost reverently, during this time.
-- Kits --
Also known as "gifts" these young cats are the life-blood of the clan and are protected first and foremost as the dangers are severe here in this land.
