So, in the recent article about Frostpaw, that got published on the official Warrior Cats website, it is mentioned that her mother Curlfeather is rather protective of her. Here is the article in case you want to check up on what I mean: warriorcats.com/content/article/introducing-frostpaw-of-riverclanI already thought it was a bit a bit suspicious how Frostpaw is already referred to as an apprentice despite not yet having appeared in caonon as such (or at all) while her littermates Graykit and Mistkit each still have their kit staus. This made me think, even before the article came out, that they could have died and thus might not show up alive in ASC alongside their sister protagonist. It would also make sense in regards to the information about Curlfeather's protectivess over Frostpaw if the reason behind it was the loss of two of her other kits. Or she is simply behaving in that way for a whole different reason. This is just a theory of mine, after all. And I could very well be wrong in this matter.

given how this series writes siblings of protagonists, it wouldn't even make a difference if her siblings were dead or alive...unfortunately.
i personally want graykit and mistkit to be alive though because i still have a smidge of hope they give them actual personalities other than "nice" sibling or "arrogant/mean sibling." make them actual characters for once please...
the protectiveness bit could just be another briarlight situation. maybe frostkit/paw had a ton of accidents and sicknesses as a kit?

They were born in Lost Stars and are still in the allegiances as of A Light in the Mist. So if Graykit and Mistkit did die, it wasn't as young kits. The article said that Curlfeather fiercely protected Frostpaw throughout her young life.

It would be very interesting if they died in kithood, honestly. I don't think we've ever had a protagonist who lost siblings at a young age but when they would still be old enough to remember; they only seem to pass at birth or later in life if they're related to a main character. I'm not expecting this to happen, but now I kind of have it on my bucketlist for this arc.
I also just realized that if Graykit and/or Mistkit die, all three of our protagonists would have lost siblings. Sunbeam never met her older sister, Needletail; and Flamepaw's brother Flickerkit was stillborn. Having one or both of Frostpaw's siblings die would give the three characters something in common to bond over.

I hope that if Frostpaw's siblings did die, her entire personality won't be about her dead siblings and it only comes into play about Curlfeather being protective over her. I still want it to happen though because a protag having all their siblings die hasn't happened yet iirc.

Mmm I don't think it'll matter if they're alive or not tbh. Lately, we haven't had the best situations with protags and their siblings, because they usually just don't have personalities or significant roles, and they're just better off being written out.
The most recent example being Shadowsight and his siblings. Lightleap got like one or two moments, before being shoved aside, and Pouncestep was even more non-existent. Compared to Bristlefrost and her siblings, or Rootspring and his, those two just had no purpose in TBC at all, and them being dead wouldn't have made a difference in the plot, lol.
So if Gray and Mist did get iced, I don't think it'll have much of an impact on the story, unless it is actually just to throw a wedge between Frost and Curl for drama. But other than that, Mist and Gray's characters will just not matter, and even if they lived, I doubt it would make a difference.

Harper Collins, when will you realize that constantly adding and subtracting names from the allegiances list isn't thought provoking or enthralling storytelling in any regard? or gives us any sense of emotional reality? with how abysmal sibling relationships have been handled, not just protagonist's lately, it's pretty irrelevant and transparent whether or not Graykit and Mistkit are alive, dead, perma-dead or wandering spirits in another galaxy. since whatever supposed character development or alleged effect it will have on Frostpaw will be tediously explained by a tirade of meaningless expository dialogue backed by no tangible substance. actions speak louder than words, I don't want to be told for the hundredth time how great a relationship is, or how meaningful someone's friendship is to them. show me through their interactions, give me something raw and cohesive that I'm able to form an emotional connection with. Don't tell me about it, show it happening. Don't tell me you have a Bachelor's Degree if you aren't able to show your certificate of authentication.
