We've seen the series dip a bit into this with Ashfur just casually dosing up on poppy seeds and demanding more when he gets depressed, but what would you think about this kind of plot line being explored more at some point?

I also remember that Rocky from Moth Flight's Vision was fairly dependent on catmint. He would definitely request it a lot. I think it would be an interesting plot line to explore, and I would love to see it, as long as it's done well.

The Rocky situation in Moth Flight's Vision was also pretty dark... He just kept asking for more and more catnip, he was becoming addicted to it.

You’d think there’d be more of this given how harsh Clan life is. But it’s a series directed at children so it’s a good idea they don’t focus on it. Watching your favorite characters turn into addicts would suck a lot.

Tbh I'd like to see more of it. It could make for an interesting plotline, though I don't see it happening to one of the main characters. Even still, it'd be cool to see one of the protagonists from ASC become or be an herb addict.

Ashfur was depressed and heart broken over Squirrelflight, taking an opioid like poppy would be used to try to calm his stress/nerves or to try to sleep the day away, as depression is often partnered with insomnia. Also he misinterpreted his heart break as a pain he could numb with poppy. It’s pretty realistic, people with depression are known to abuse opioids in a vicious cycle.

Considering recreational drugs aren't legal in a majority of countries where this series is published (and even where it is legal, it's definitely not legal for kids), I feel like this is too taboo of a topic to be implemented. Plus, I imagine there might be some liability issues if a kid were to read about a cat taking a specific herb for fun and deciding to do so themselves and winding up sick, however unlikely that is. Frankly I'm surprised there haven't been issues with that already.
I feel like catmint is just enough of a gray area to be allowed, though, considering that real-life cats love the stuff. That alone is probably what saved it from being seen as overt drug use by the publishers in the case of Moth Flight's Vision.

I was thinking the addiction would be portrayed as bad though, not some recreational thing

There was the case with Rocky which was incredibly funny. Probably the best part of Moth Flight's Vision IMO. Herb addicts happening again in Warriors would certainly be interesting, but only if the Erins drilled it into the plot that it's an extremely bad thing. Only then would I like it.

I'd rather not see it.
It was bad enough having a close relative struggle with addiction. I really don't want to read about it on a fictional cat book.

While it could be interesting, I think this is a subject that is too dark, and quite frankly may be a little too relatable for some of the intended audience. There are kids out there who watch their parents/siblings/other people in their lives struggle with addiction, and I think it's just too dark for a book series about cats. It's definitely too heavy, and I'd prefer not to see it. They have ways they can incorporate other serious topics in a kid appropriate way, but I don't think this is one of those topics they should touch.

I think it would end up being too releatable. Some of the readers often read this books as an escape of reality, and if loved ones (or even themselves) are struggling with addiction, it would very hard to read and painful for the reader. I'd rather they not touch the subject.

I don't like that idea. My family has a history of addiction and a plotline like that would hit way too close to home.
