The Broken Code & Graystripe's Vow makes it clear no one really respects her and if no one respects her we'll have another arc about Squirrelflight's struggles and who want's to read about her for a bunch more arc's.

100% agree. idk why anyone in the clans would respect her anymore. in SqH and TBC, she has been self righteous, only thinking of herself, putting down others ideas and giving them no other options but hers since "she's always right."
plus, she's old and has stolen spotlight for way too long. get rid of her. TBC was her arc to die in but now that ship has sailed.

If we had had an Ivypool SE, maybe she'd be offed in that.

As someone who likes Squirrelflight I must agree, I think she'll either get killed off at the end of this arc or perhaps in the end of the next arc (ASC can be about her realizing she can no longer be deputy for whatever reason, then she sacrifices herself for someone in the next arc)

I really like Squirrelflight but I agree that she wouldn't be a good leader. She's a very emotional cat and often acts before she thinks (the Sisters situation, trying to stop the cats from killing Bramblestar etc.). A leader needs to be somewhat rational, and Squirrelflight isn't.

I adore Squirrelflight (and Bramblestar) but still want her (and him) to die or at least retire. Both she and her mate have taken the spotlight from other characters for far too long (especially in TBC which was literally about their annoying love triangle with Ashfur from ages ago). ALitM Spoilers Hopefully there is another chance for this to happen in the new ASC arc. How fun would it be if the authors did not kill off either of them in A Light in the Mist only for that to then occur in River?

do not understand why neither her nor bramblestar died or at least retired at the end of TBC. it was the perfect time to wrap up their stories and literally the whole fandom was expecting that.

If we had had an Ivypool SE, maybe she'd be offed in that. Yeah agreed, there would have been plenty of time to deal with change in the higher ranks if Ivypool's SE followed after the end tragedies of TBC. But since we're not getting that, my guess is that the editors just won't bother now and delay it even longer. SIGH.

SIGH. they could still do an Ivypool SE following Riverstar if they decide to make Ivypool an integral part of the next arc, and decide to make changes to the higher ranks, who knows maybe they’ll make her deputy in River or 2nd book and then fill the gaps between TBC and ASC later. I’d highly doubt they’d completely change story and narrative direction that drastically if they planned on making her leader somewhere down the line just because she lost the poll this round.

I continue have hope for an Ivypool SE perhaps even after Riverstar got his one in 2022. So if Ivypool will have an important role to play in ASC there could be a chance of her getting an SE in 2023/2024 which would be while ASC is still getting released (around either book 3 and 4 or 5 and 6). My wishful thinking for now is that Squirrelflight somehow retires in between the break after TBC but before ASC starts off with River. Just imagine the shock a lot of people in the fandom could have if the allegiances for River get released early in the excerpt next year and Ivypool (or some other cat who knows) has replaced Squirrelflight as deputy. That would be wild. If it does not happen (sadly rather likely) I will write an AU for it out of spite.

Like she'd be listed there as deputy instead of Squirrelflight, while Squirrelflight is retired. Then they'll probably have a novella (or hopefully a SE still) to cover that change in between books like you said. It would be too much of a waste if they didn't take an opportunity like that up, ya know?

It would be too much of a waste if they didn't take an opportunity like that up, ya know? Agreed! I still think that there must have been a reason for Ivypool to be included in the SE poll options for this year besides her popularity in most of the fandom. The obvious thing would be about what happened in ALitM but who knows. I just hope that her chances to become deputy are not jeopardized by the rule for deputies to have at least one apprentice being absent from the reformed code. Perhaps this rule will be added back in or it getting taken out was even a mistake in the first place. I saw some people theorize that her chances at deputyship are now very unlikely due to the absence of it indicating that a younger cat without much experience will be getting the position instead. But we will have to wait and see. Edit: Ṣanɗypaw™ just posted a corrected version of the revised code from the official website on here and the rule is thankfully back!
