Or Do They And I Just Forgot
talking about the horror aspects of tbc got me thinking about how a lot of urban legends and old ghost stories are morality tales and, like, do the clans even have those? what would they look like?
example being like, windclan with stories about monsters that lurk in the tunnels to keep kits from wandering into dangerous parts of the territory

The closest I remember is them using evil cats to scare kits, but that's it.

Yeah I was trying to remember stuff and that's all I was able to scrape together. Which works sure but from a storytelling/worldbuilding perspective, boring
edit so i don't double post lol: i feel like this is the kind of thing that got shafted when legends related to leopard/lion/tigerclan got shafted
i bet every clan would have stories about eating crowfood but shadowclan especially, with their proximity to the carrionplace and all.

We don't really hear many legends aside from the ones about the founders, but even that only appeared in Secrets of the Clans. It would be nice though, I agree, to get a Halloween novella or something focused around ghost stories in their universe. Maybe have a timeskipped version of the Ashfur tale where all the details have been changed and compressed greatly to show how stories evolve over time.
I do think that one very likely scary story to tell would be of some giant, monster bird. Maybe even some kind of flying cat monster to give it a backstory, but it would be used to have kits stay inside so hawks and eagles don't eat them

There's the "bad kits will be sent to the Dark Forest" thing but I don't know if it's still around.

that'd make sense but like i said i think a lot of this kind of stuff fell by the wayside. which is a shame!
i'd write some myself as a fun experiment and i could probably do it, but my horror writing style tends to be either very naval gaze-y or really gross

I’d love if there were scary ghost stories that apprentices passed around to scare each other, it would add so much more character and lead to some fun moments
