running away or leaving your clan for a non-relationship reason is cowardace imo.
tawnpaw leaving thunderclan just because some old people were making comments about her? so her only solution is to run away to a father she knows is toxic and immoral? her logic is to run away and not face her problems. thats how tawnypelt has ALWAYS faced problems imo.
i dont like this message of "if u can't handle something, run away."
tawnypaw's situation is interesting though because i CAN see the other side. "why should she have to put up with it if it made her unhappy" or "why does she have to prove herself to anyone over something she can't control?" like yeah i get those arguments, but i still dont see why tawnypelt had to be a coward, whereas bramblepaw was capable of "proving" himself and becoming a good thunderclan warrior despite whatever was said about HIM. i will always say bramblclaw had it worse than her. he actually LOOKS like their bad dad. so why is tawnypelt moving clans seen as something brave, when its actually just super selfish and foolish?

it sucks that we never see anyone post-tpb bring up tawnypelt leaving thunderclan. her character could’ve been really interesting if the authors properly resolved that, but instead she kind of just gets shoved into the “brambleclaw’s cool and reasonable sister who has it all together” role. I think tawnypelt had a lot of potential to be a more complex character! like, I really wish that tawnypelt had been the protagonist of tnp. brambleclaw already had his “I’m not like my father” moment in the first arc, and tawnypelt’s set up here was way more interesting. she actively chose to leave thunderclan and join tigerstar! watching her struggle with the consequences of this while exploring why she made that decision would’ve been so much fun. it would lead to a much more believable and less tedious feeling conflict (as the conflict of “will brambleclaw choose to join tigerstar?” just feels like a repeat of the first arc, we already saw him choose to reject tigerstar, it just weakens the impact of his character in the first arc honestly)
also, I realize this turned into more of a tawnypelt centric thing, but circling back around I feel like the series doesn’t properly explore the complicated nature of moving clans and as a result it misses opportunities for some really nuanced characters.

It's not really fair to compare the two. Again, whataboutism. And Bramblestar and Tawnypelt may be littermates, but they're still completely different cats. She left her brother and mother behind, but putting aside your own feelings for someone else's sake isn't really a good message, either. Just because Bramblestar seemed to have a harder time because he looked like Tigerstar shouldn't really mean anything. And yes, she was told of Tigerstar's evil deeds, but keep in mind that by the time she knew, Tigerstar had already become leader of ShadowClan and Darkstripe had taken her and her brother to meet him. And let's take a look at when Fireheart tells them the truth. And Bramblepaw has a point. Later in TDH, Mousefur snaps at her for apparently no reason and the incident with Smallear and she even mentions that it's not the first time he's had issues with her. Fireheart lied, what else could he have been lying about? Going into speculation here, but it's possible she may have had doubts as to how much was true. RiverClan also allied with ShadowClan and she may have genuinely believed that the creation of TigerClan was out of good intentions. And if she couldn't get respect in ThunderClan, then to her, it makes sense she would go to the one place she knew she wouldn't be judged. She was desperate. I really don't think she should be judged for something she did as an apprentice, and besides, Tawnypaw made her decision and always stuck by it. I highly doubt she would've been so reckless had she been a warrior by the time instead.

I don't know if this happened but didn't some shadowclan cats still judge her when she was in Shadowclan as well by calling her a thunderclan cat and not a true shadowclan cat? I could be remembering things wrong but I feel like this did happen in a book.

I could be remembering things wrong but I feel like this did happen in a book. Russetfur didn't trust her, as well as Rowanclaw before they became mates. Blackstar apparently didn't either, as Tawnypelt even says that he's never asked her to represent ShadowClan until after the Clans reach the lake and have to scout for territory. But at least they weren't judging her because of Tigerstar, so Tawnypelt didn't seem to mind as much aside from being mildly annoyed by it.

Daily reminder too that Tawnypelt was the one to tell Tigerstar to eat rocks and leave her alone and that his training was bullcrap and that she’d never learn anything from him. Whereas Bramblestar, who apparently was “not a coward” in comparison, still chose to train with his murderous father. While being a full grown adult while Tawnypaw was an apprentice when she made her choice yet still ended up preferring Shadowclan and making a home for herself there, sooo…I dunno. Seems like Tawnypelt isn’t the only apparently dumb one here, though she at least wasn’t a full grown adult when she followed her father.
I don’t see Tawnypaw as a coward for being done with Thunderclan’s crap and leaving to not be judged no matter how hard she works simply because she’s Tigerstar’s daughter. If anything, she was brave enough to stick with her decision even after the fact and make herself a home in a new Clan with no kin there at her side. This is what sets Tawnypelt aside from alot of the forbidden relationship cats. She switched clans early and never regretted her choice. Cats like Dovewing drew the drama out and wouldn’t just switch Clans way earlier. Honestly, I’d kinda like to see an AU where Silverstream did join Thunderclan, just to show how moving Clans earlier is way less heartbreaking than dragging it along.
