his existence amuses me greatly because a lot of the "girlboss leopardstar" stuff often included "she doesnt need or want a man ever" except now she canonically did want a man. like talk about misaimed writing.
other than that hes okay, though i did find the whole "you cant be deputy and love me/have a family" stuff really annoying.

he's unnecessary. idk why they needed to include love drama. they picked him out of random too so its even more boring to me.

Leopardstar didn't need a love interest, but I like how they handled the topic of kits maturely. They wanted different things out of a relationship and Frogleap accepted that she didn't want kits and didn't try force her to have them (like Finleap did.)

I actually really loved his inclusion as well as how he and Leopardstar handled things. Being a strong female character does not mean you’re suddenly not allowed or incapable of having romantic feelings for another person. Leopardstar still chose her leadership and ambitions over having a mate and kits, and Frogleap was understanding of it, broke things off, and got a mate who did want kits with him. He proceeded to be Leopardstar’s friend and supported her as such. Seems pretty healthy and nice to me!

Although I know some people like to headcanon Leopardstar as lesbian (I mean, she could just be bi) so for them I suppose there could be an alternative interpretation: that Leopardstar didn't realise her feelings weren't romantic, but rather rationalised that Frogleap being her best friend and an interested male means she HAS to love him. Her sadness about him moving on is moreso a fear of having lost her best friend, and frustration at herself for not being able to be "normal" by Clan standards. It's a bit of a stretch, but it does kinda work imo. I know a couple of lesbian friends who had similar experiences growing up before they realised they weren't straight!

i like him fairly well, and i like how leopardstar's decision didn't turn him into ashfur/finleap 2.0. he's enjoyable.

I see Leopardstar as Biromantic Asexual so I can get that. I know so many people that think a bisexual has to have comphet and it’s aggravating to read about, but I think the feelings she held for Frogleap were genuine and I liked that they explored that. I’d love more bisexual/biromantic representation tbh.

Neutral on him. I feel he could have been less selfish when it came to "you're not giving me full attention" because plenty of other deputies have mates, but I do like how he moved on and didn't seem to resent Leopardstar.

I liked him. I feel like people need to understand that not everyone can handle always "waiting" for their significant other constantly. It's not healthy, and its annoying that there's this romanticized stigma around it.
What he wanted from a relationship and what she wanted didn't align. So they mutually agreed to break things off and move on, which I think is the healthiest thing to do. For both of them. That doesn't make either party selfish or anything imo, its just this is how realistic relationships are. And with Frogleap and Leopardstar that was portrayed well.
Being in a relationship with someone who has to put their work duties and ambitions over them isn't for everyone. Just like how being in a relationship with someone who wants to slow down and settle isn't for everyone. I can see and understand both sides of the coin in this situation.

He's fine for now but I'm already worried for how some parts of the fandom are going to either hate Frogleap just for even being Leopardstar's temporary love interest (because a lot of fans see her as either gay or aroace but bi is how I view her) or hate on his reason for breaking up. The whole "your job as deputy prevents us from being together properly" thing was a bit dramatic but he's still not that bad. There have been far worse toms who couldn't handle when a she cat didn't pay enough attention to them in this series *cough* Finleap *cough*.

I like him. Also people who didn’t read the book are spreading misconceptions or people forgot, but Frogleap was never Leopardstar’s mate. Also one reason he decided to not become Leopardstar’s mate because he wanted kits. Leopardstar did not. I think Frogleap made the right decision on his part.

I like Frogleap. He was a really good guy for all the reasons that Maple and Moon said and I'm glad that his story with Leopardstar was touched upon. RIP <3
