For context, the current story is about a sick, pregnant wolf who receives a vision. She and her younger sister escape the abusive pack they were apart of and go on to look for a haven of their own which was what the sick, pregnant wolf saw in her vision.
The season had been a harsh one. The young white she-wolf's ribs showed through her matted pelt. Her eyes red around the rim. For the past half moon, there had been nothing left for her at the end of the night. As omega, she could not eat until everybody else did. She felt sick and it was hard to stand and being the thing that the pack took their anger out on, it felt even harder to live nowadays - to just exist was more than a chore, but a form of torture. Her heart was slow in her chest and not one thought in her head was rational as she looked at the deer that the hunting patrol had caught. Her belly growled at the sight of it and her mouth was watering. She licked her chops.
But even then, she knew that out of spite, the others wouldn't leave much for her, but not his time.
She was sick of being a coward. Of being her parents daughter. She glanced at her older sister and jealousy ached inside of her. Her sister didn't have it much better, but it still angered her that she was stuck in such a lowly position. She knew what she was thinking was stupid, but her hunger caused an even bigger ache than that of the jealousy did. She was going to get food because even if she got beat for it, she was going to die without it. Oh, how much her mouth watered.
Her hunger overwhelmed her better senses and she charged at the deer - a stupid mistake. Would anyone feel sorry about the fact her ribs were showing beneath her messy pelt? She barely got four bites in before she was slammed into. Teeth tore into her. She could not make out the words being said to her, but she knew that they were not good ones. She let out a loud cry as teeth tore into her ear and was shocked when she heard the rip. They tore off the tip of her ear! And she knew the bites in her pelt were going to leave scars, and she wanted to fight back, but the fear and the hunger and the exhaustion all wore at her. She was no fighter. She could barely call herself a wolf.
"I have been barely tolerating you," the beta had growled.
"Low life omega, you think you deserve to eat more than I do? Me?!" the alpha had snapped before plunging his fangs into her flank.
She laid limp because the shock was overtaking the pain. Her head was spinning. She was dizzy. Her thoughts even more chaotic than before.
"You are banished. Leave, now!"
And with whatever strength she had left, she limped away. Her tail was between her legs and she wondered if any of them had bothered to realize that she was the same as them - a wolf. But she was a wolf who did not even have a name.
She collapsed as the pain overwhelmed her. If she was going to die, she wanted to at least die with a name and though it was a name from an older language, one that simply meant she-wolf, she was going to make it her name.
