Because 99% of people don't really care about genetic accuracy in their characters. It's not like Warriors is a unique example here either, if you look at any work featuring human characters I can guarantee that at no point did the writers ever draw up a Punnet square to make sure everyone's genetics matched up fine. Basically this. Most people really already don't care about accurate genetics in fiction, and besides, even if it was accurate, there'd be a severe lack of pelt variety in the Clans and that'd just be boring. Remember that this is a series aimed at middle schoolers, 10 to 14 year olds, so most of them are just going to care about this kind of thing even less. It really shouldn't be that big of a deal, and this series clearly has its own rules regarding genetics anyway, one that's more or less hereditary. And the case with Thunder? He could've easily inherited his pelt from a grandparent besides Quiet Rain or even a distant ancestor, since the series has already established that resembling someone from so long ago is also possible as well (ex: Tigerclaw and Spottedleaf looking like Gorseclaw and Spottedpelt respectively). As for Yellowfang, there was Silverflame. Orange and gray, true, but still gray nonetheless. With all these solid grey cats and plain brown tabbies filling up the majority of the clans, I think they have a lack of pelt variety already. Also, cats in real life can have very interesting litters, like, in this one foster kitten video I saw, a cat had a black cat, a grey cat, a grey and white cat, and a colorpoint. Also, in another litter, a cat had a brown tabby, a brown and white tabby, a ginger and white tabby, a cream tabby, and a tortie, so there can be a lot of pelt variety with real life genetics.

Chickentrue. i think it has to do with what the parents carry. even on the coat calculator i use, if u make them carry all kinds of genes, then their kits looks can have so many options lol

Chicken true. i think it has to do with what the parents carry. even on the coat calculator i use, if u make them carry all kinds of genes, then their kits looks can have so many options lol Yeah, that's true, and it's very easy to see what the cats carry by looking at their parents and siblings lol, because if they have a grey parent, or a grey sibling, then they probably carry grey. Like, Reedwhisker could probably have a grey child. Oh you know what else happens in feral populations? Lykoi cats, also there's a thing called The Finnish mutation, which is found in feral cats, and they're on this page, you gotta scroll down a little to find it messybeast.com/roan-tweed.htm. I think mutations and stuff like that would be pretty common in warriors because of their strict rules about how they can take as mates.
