idk if this was discussed sometime back during AVOS, but i really wanna know if someone out there knows how old darktail was?
in my mind, he's the same age as squirrelflight because for some reason, i can't imagine darktail being a super grandpa by the time he shows up in AVOS...he always felt younger to me, so maybe around TNP age...?
also a funny tidbit: onestar looks like leafpool and smoke looks like crowfeather, do with that parallel what u will lmao

Thinking about it, he was probably around Squirrelflight/Leafpool's age
Which means he was not a spring chicken

I always thought he was rather young, around Ivypoolʼs age but that doesn't work.
He was actually pretty old, I'd say around Squirrelflight and Leafpoolʼs age too.

at minimum hes squirrel and leafs age. at maximum i guess he could be like thornclaws age? cant remember if there was any timeframe other than old forest i feel like the latest would be, if he was born right before the clans moved out of the forest...? i didnt read AVOS fully so i dont remember if there was context clues to the story onestar told of him and smoke? |

We know that Onewhisker had enough time to tell her all about "how important he is in the Clans" which is why I headcanon that he meet Smoke while Firestar was gone with Sandstorm on his quest to rebuild SkyClan and that Darktail is roughly the same age as Squirrelflight and Leafpool in AVoS. My other headcanon is that he basically told Smoke all of Firestar's acccomplishments and made them out to be his instead because he was jealous. Just a headacanon though.

We know the clans were still around when Darktail was born, as, during his confession about the whole thing, Onestar said that Darktail was 'old enough to understand' what was going on when Smoke came to ask him to take the kit in one final time. He was also stated to be old enough to leave his mother.

So let's lay it out:
It happened during Tallstar's time as leader of WindClan.
Onestar was still Onewhisker.
Tallstar's leadership began in his super edition, Tallstar's Revenge. Onestar was a kit at the end of Tallstar's Revenge. He was a young warrior in Fire And Ice.
This was before they left the old forest and after he became a warrior.
Onestar states in Shattered Sky that he was a young warrior when he first met Smoke.
Darktail must have been born during TPB based off that, then.
