i liked him BEFORE he became leader of wind clan. i miss his old self dearly. what's your opinion? Strong dislike. He refused to help ShadowClan because of his own pride, neglected Darktail, and was terrible to Smoke. He's an awful WindClan leader and hurt Firestar and betrayed him multiple times just to prove that he's not friends with him anymore, even creating a battle back in Eclipse, at MIDNIGHT. Onestar is a joke and should've gone to the Dark Forest. I don't care if he killed Darktail to "redeem" himself. His actions have been downright cruel, and feeling pressured as a leader doesn't excuse it. He has caused too much trouble as a WindClan leader.

I hate this rat (though, I feel it's unfair to call him a rat, because rats are actually adorable and intelligent animals), he is the reason why Crowfrost, Kinkfur, and Wasptail are dead. He may have seemed nice as Onewhisker, but he was still rotten, he had a forbidden romance, and then ditched them when he was Onewhisker. IDC if he thought the clan wouldn't receive them well, that's no excuse. He also crapped all over Tallstar's hopes and dreams and for no reason at all really. It's not like he had much pressure from his clan, seeing as everyone from there but two cats were on his side, so I really don't know why he turned into such a scumbag. The worst part is, he didn't have to face up for anything either, he just got to go and "die a hero" without facing any repercussions. I hate this guy -10/10.

He's a good antagonist, but I still find him unlikeable.

Gross garbage rat who should've died way sooner than arc 6.

I really liked Onewhisker until discovering that he was horrible even back in or rather after the first arc as it was revealed how he lied to, had kits with and then rejected Smoke and his only surviving son Darktail all while still being a warrior. Onestar got what he deserved when Darktail used his favorite technique of drowning cats on himself and his father. Good riddance!

Why'd he randomly hate firestar like 5 minutes after mudclaw died, what changed? He basically worshiped him beforehand.

Why'd he randomly hate firestar like 5 minutes after mudclaw died, what changed? He basically worshiped him beforehand. in my mind, i see it like this: onewhisker has been a coward his entire life. he hid behind firestar a lot because he was insecure on his own. then when firestar "turned against him" by forcing his hand to accept the leadership when he wasnt ready, onewhisker started to hate firestar for putting him in the spot like that. and because onewhisker was such a coward, he couldn't say no and he deluded himself into believing tallstar's words as much as he could, but inside, he was angry at thunderclan and firestar for forcing him to do something he didn't want to do. so later, this resentment builds up until eclipse happens and he attacks thunderclan for no reason just because of his personal, petty BS against firestar. "it's firestar's fault my clan is suffering. he forced me to become leader when i wasnt ready!" etc.

Dislike, but at least he's interesting
I will say, Winds of Change I think really shows a good reason why he was paranoid tho

Easily one of my favorite characters in the entire series. I honestly have a hard time thinking of characters in Warriors with better arcs than his. He's very intetesting and complex.

I liked him before he became leader, and I think he made a great antagonist. I think what I don't like about him is the inconsistency and lack of a transition from being a good supporting character to a primary antagonist. I think if we could get a novella or SE from his point of view that shows us that transition would give us a much better understanding of his characterization. But hey, I tend to have a thing for antagonists that have legitimate reasons for their behavior. So yeah, it would be nice to see his POV.

Second worst leader in the series, still the better option between him and Mudclaw, and kind of interesting if also a very repulsive character. The way I see it the guy starts off his leadership with a rebellion under his paws from a clanmate trying to murder him and has to be saved by Firestar. He ends up in his shadow yet again, and while he might love Firestar, it can be very painful to fail to live up to the ideal of someone you care deeply about. It came down to envy and shame in my book why he turned out the way he did, that he felt like he was a failure because of how he was treated relative to "great" leaders and so sought to overcompensate. He's basically just someone driven by shame over failing to live up to the standard and then overcompensating in worse ways.

I still can't like Onestar though, not after the ShadowClan thing.

Strong dislike. Onestar the reason Crowfrost is dead and I'll never forgive him for that. Although his 180 change in personality is a really interesting story.

I actually really like his character and what they did with him, when it comes to actually complex cats, he’s one of them to me. I really loved how he had a role to play in the story and that he fell from grace in a way that felt natural. He was a cowardly cat thrust into leadership and paranoia from Mudclaw’s rebellion that he was seen as weak for depending on Thunderclan. I think he genuinely loved Firestar and always will, but he needed to show Windclan that he could lead them without being in Firestar’s shadow. In that desperation, he became more and more hostile of anyone outside his own clan, and by the end of it all, he died from the very same thing he created, and from the cowardice he could never overcome.
Honestly, I do hope that he and Firestar rekindled their relationship in Starclan. I hope they found peace in that regard.

I like his character. He's interesting and complex and not all growth and change means a cat matures into a great and noble figure.
