What's your opinion on him? I despise this guy, and I don't like his redemption either. Took things too far when he wanted to kill Poppyfrost, a pregnant cat, and a medicine cat, and gave zero craps for what he wanted to do, too. I don't like him and I think he deserves to be exiled. Should have been.

I like Breezepelt. He's a damaged little spawn who got smothered with love by his mother and rather neglected by his father so him turning out bad was almost guaranteed. His "redemption" was not my cup of tea but him now being nice(er) has grown on me in recent books. Him becoming a full on villain would have been fine too though.

I really like Breezepelt, I wish he'd face some repercussions for what he did to Poppyfrost and Jayfeather though.

neutral. i would have voted like, but...his redemption arc. where was it!? crowfeather's SE should have gone to breezepelt so it could have been all about breezepelt's journey to redemption and righting all his wrongs. maybe he does get exiled and has a journey that leads him back home and prove to his clanmates he's changed? or what if he returns from exile saving the clans at a gathering from an external threat, and all the clans find out he's changed at the same time? something? idk!
breezepelt is such wasted potential because of this lack of depth in his character. his villainy should have been given more depth than just "dad is bad waaah." if they wanted him to stay around after OotS, then OotS should have given him small moments of doubt or guilt that he pushes down, but we the reader can read into it and see he might be regretting what he's doing...and then in dovewing's silence novella (which takes place right after OotS), we'd see a shamed breezepelt. no smugness at all. and then he'd get his SE in place of CT, and get a fully fleshed out redemption arc.
idk why, whoever wrote dovewing's novella, decided to show breezepelt as a smug jerk who didn't regret what he did, only to have him be "redeemed" off screen books later???

I voted love, but I know I have a pretty controversial opinion, so I want to clarify even though Breezepelt is one of my favorite characters, I do not like or condone a lot of his actions.
I have an idea for an alternative CT that might make Breezepelt’s redemption more believable:
There’s chapters alternating between Breeze and Crow. Those characters were both so stuck in their ways, seeing their POV is the only way to make their change seem believable. But I still think Breeze should have more POV chapters.
The truth should’ve come out about Poppyfrost and Jayfeather, maybe during a Gathering, and Onestar should’ve exiled Breezepelt from Windclan, and no other Clan takes him in so Breeze becomes a rogue. After Breeze gets exiled, Night gets captured by Twolegs, but Crow first goes after Breezepelt, maybe Feathertail and Ashfoot talk him into it. He catches up with Breeze and they quarrel, but eventually understand one another. Maybe this and Breeze proving through his actions he’s a better cat, such as risking his life to save Crowfeather’s, or tearfully saying he thought Brokenstar was like a father but he understands now that Crowfeather was his real dad all along in spite of being absent and neglectful when he got older.
They find Night, return to Windclan and Breeze publicly apologizes for his actions, maybe at another Gathering. Crow also apologizes to Breeze, and says he forgives his son, and Nightcloud apologizes for her part of her possessiveness over them and not wanting Crow and Breeze to be close. Some cats in Windclan forgive the 3, others’ don’t. Onestar accepts them all back to Windclan, even though there’s some protest from all clans.
I know this isn’t the book the Erins wrote, but especially if it’s partly from Breeze’s perspective, I think that would’ve made his redemption seem more believable.

Neutral. I'd like Breezepelt more if the whole attacking Poppyfrost thing hadn't been glossed over.

VERY neutral, but I like the cat he's become. He's much more calm and a good mate and father while still being a fierce warrior.

I hate him. His redemption arc is nothing, it's absolutely horribly done. I don't remember any other significant appearances of him that imply he's really good now. In CT he's really only nice to Heathertail and Nightcloud, and Crowfeather a little, but they're his crush and mother, obviously he'd be nice to them.

He's trashy so I love him.
I really do wish he got a bigger punishment though for his actions, he got off way too light. His redemption should've been a lot better too.

Neutral, I liked him as a villain in OoTS, and I kinda like the new Breezepelt too, but he's really inconsistent and his redemption was rushed. They didn't even acknowledge the bad things he did.

The only thing they acknowledged with Breezepelt is that he sided with the Dark Forest, but that's about it. I suppose you can blame this with bad writing because the others should have reported the crimes he attempted to do, but it's not an excuse. Doesn't redeem him enough for me. At least Jayfeather refused to forgive him, I suppose.

He made a great villain, but god I hate him. I can understand his motivations, but still. There is no excuse for attacking a pregnant queen and a blind medicine cat at the most sacred place for the Clans. I don't love the way his redemption was written, and I don't think there really is any redeeming all of the bad things he did. I think they could've done a better job writing his redemption, and since we see basically nothing of him afterwards (aside from that "Hooray!" when they crack the ice at the moonpool which I have to admit cracks me up every time) it's hard to decide if I like him after his redemption. I'd like to read things from his POV - that might change my opinion of him (I tend to be nicer to awful characters whose POV I get to read).

I'm neutral on him, his redemption could have been written better. If the books had also adressed the Moonpool attack it could've been a lot better.
