Super Edition villains really aren't talked about very much, are they? Even villains who appear in other books, like Mapleshade, rarely have their SE role given focus relative to their other screentime. So then, out of the main villains in SE books, which one is the best one and why?
Remember, judge them ONLY by their appearance in the SE and only that. So if evaluating Tigerstar, for example, judge him only by his SE appearances and nothing else. Also, I put down Tigerheartstar only because he was excessively aggressive in Squirrelflight's Hope and basically the chief cause of all the problems in it and never really got a redemption for it in the story. Cedarstar is in a similar spot, being the bane of Windclan in Tallstar's Revenge and never showing any redemption in it really.

I love this thread idea! I'm going to go with Tigerheart when it comes to Squirrelflight's Hope, he did go about things the wrong way, but I felt like his anger was understandable.

My favorite is Fog. She had the most redeeming qualities and I like how she cared for her brother. She's less of a villain and more of just a mean cat, and in the end she respects the Guardian cats.

Brokenstar. He's a walking cliche but a memorable one due to his cruelty towards literally everybody.
(Darktail was "good" in the first half of HJ too though.)

As much as I hate Mapleshade, she was a good villain in Crookedstar’s promise.

Mapleshade, before and after her novella I liked her character role as a villain. She does her job well, being despised by fans and also being malicious in canon and causing trouble. She's got a good back story, a good motive, and she's interesting in general, and design. So she's probably my favorite SE villain because of that, while Darktail (and Hawkfrost) come at second for me. Reading her moments, you can either very much feel how "nurturing and sickeningly sweet" she is sometimes, to "furiously angry like burning fire" in another moment. It's exciting to read about.

Mapleshade was the most intimidating and the biggest threat compared to all the others imo. I do like Brokenstar and Fog though.

While those may all be arguably true, my idea when making the thread was that we should consider only their appearance in the SE. So Mapleshade in this context would have zero backstory and zero motive aside from just wanting to manipulate Crookedstar and being angry he didn't listen to her demands. I figured this does a lot to help change the discussion around, since Mapleshade is almost 100% of the time discussed in context of her novella and backstory for example. It also does a lot to help boost up a cat like Brokenstar, who is FAR more intimidating and competent in his SE compared to the paper tiger he is in the series proper

It also does a lot to help boost up a cat like Brokenstar, who is FAR more intimidating and competent in his SE compared to the paper tiger he is in the series proper It's why I said I liked and enjoyed her before and after, either way I found her interesting and fun to read about. I was very fond of her mysterious presence in Crookedstar's story. And how she was so motherly to him, to a first time reader who has no idea about her, it would be a surprising read. Especially because of her sweet behavior contrasting Rainflower's much more horrid behavior. But then as you go through the SE, you start to see her true motives, and Crookedstar struggling as a character because of it. Her intents aren't maliciously obvious at first and I like that a lot. She's ambitious, manipulative, and blood hungry, and her interactions with Crookedstar were great. At the time we also knew nothing about her, she had no ties to any cats in the series at the time, and we were left without context until her novella. And even now we don't have any confirmed kin for her, I feel like it was a missed opportunity on the Erin's part, but I guess still works because it made Mapleshade a more fresh villain then.

The rat pack was so freaking hilarious and scary at the same time, so them. Agreed! They made Firestar's Quest for me loll, other than that, I found that SE pretty boring. Omg, what if they were like the rats in that book Rats by Paul Zindel? Oh! Or like in the movie Willard?! I recommend not looking these up if you're scared/grossed out easily.

The rat pack was so freaking hilarious and scary at the same time, so them. An Erin Hunter style series on rats that crossovers with Warriors? My body’s born ready.
